The Wire (beware of spoilers)

I’m doing a rewatch. On the back end of season 2 so far. Such a great show. I’ve watched it all the way through many times but still pick up on things I’ve missed especially random funny one liners.

 

Ho.Lee.Fuck. I am mind blown.

 

So if season 6 happened it would have involved Latin immigration. There was also a spin-off with Carcetti in the works. Oh what could have been.

Probably the best scene that shows Rawls actually knows how to do police work

The best Rawls moment is when he plays Ride of the Valkyries over the speakers when they’re breaking up hamsterdam and I will hear no arguments

 

I’m of the opinion that there is no “best” Rawls scene on account of he’s a rat fuck piece of shit and I hate him

 

While true, the “best” Rawls scene is at the hospital right after Kima gets shot when he picks McNulty up, figuratively and literally, and tells him this isn’t his fault.

“Listen to me you fuck ... You are a gaping asshole, and everyone knows it. But this is not on you. And the motherfucker saying this, he hates your guts. So you know if it was on you, I’d be the son of a bitch to say so”

not really. this is based entirely on real people and actual events contained in the gun trace task force investigation https://www.gttfinvestigation.org/

similar themes, for sure. but I wouldn't expect it to look or feel like The Wire.

 

Hector and Williams were both great in the wire. I'm quite interested in seeing how they are in the new roles.

 

Reading the cast list on IMDB is like getting the band back together. Herc, Poot, etc

And is that the "seasoned" youth all grown up?

Rewatching recently and Kennard pouring lighter fluid on a cat before he pops Omar was amazing.

That little fucker was pure evil

 

idk if it's the best scene but it's by far my favorite opening scene to an episode.

 

Bunk's copy machine doubling as a lie detector test is way up there

 

my favorite scene is when Clay Davis learns the city is on him.

When you learn that this is based on real life does that ruin the scene for you?

 

Nah. I remember reading that a good while back, and it’s where I have to separate a fucked up real life situation from really good television.

And that scene made for incredibly good television.

I dont think the "Fuck" scene was but that is arguably my favorite scene in the show.

Haven’t listened yet, but Method Man is doing an 8-episode podcast series looking back on The Wire in conjunction with HBO.

First ep talked to David Simon, second one with Hassan Johnson who played Wee-Bey.

 

Sounds similar to what Rog Bennett did with BOB, which was excellent.

"ENGLISH MOTHERFUCKER" is one of my favorite lines from The Wire. usually only appropriate/useful when people are drunk and rambling at the end of a night.
