Maybe it’s the way he dresses and the hair but it really surprised me. I’m almost 40 and it surprised me as I always thought he was older.
that seems young cause Tony talks about "Uncle Paulie" which would imply a larger age gap I think ... but fuck man losing Sopranos cast members hurts so bad
Paulie and Sill were both probably at least 10 years older than Tony based on Saints of Newark. The characters weren’t that old and based on previous comments that’s how old James was when the series started. Just look much older to me as well
Mentioned earlier but I also think a lot of it had to do with the way the characters were dressed /hairstyles that made them look older
They fucked up the timeline in MSON, there’s no question. In Sopranos, Tony makes references to going to school with Sil, and it is implied heavily he is the same age as Tony and Jackie when they hold up Feech’s game. If nothing else, Ralph explicitly states that the 4 of them were a little crew. Whereas in MSON Sil is portrayed as already being an associate in the De Meo Family when Tony is in high school. Paulie was portrayed as too young, but not badly enough to really retcon anything. All that to say, RIP Paulie
Sirico was convicted of several crimes and was arrested 28 times, including for disorderly conduct, assault, and robbery, before taking up acting.[2][4] On February 27, 1970, he was arrested at a restaurant, and found with a .32 caliber revolver on his person. In 1971, he was indicted for extortion, coercion, and felony weapons possession, convicted, and sentenced to four years in prison, of which he served 20 months at Sing Sing.[5][6][7] According to a court transcript at the time of his sentencing, Sirico was the owner of a discotheque in Manhattan, and also had pending charges for criminal possession of a dangerous drug.[5] Sirico stated that he was visited by an acting troupe composed of ex-convicts during his imprisonment, which inspired him to give acting a try.[8] He appeared in the 1989 documentary The Big Bang by James Toback, in which he discussed his earlier life.[9]
yeah it could've been high school vs college age difference, and once you cross that threshold you start looking the part quickly. but i think just incongruency between the film and series. i always thought Tony/Jackie/Sil/Pussy/Ralphie were in a similar demographic vs Paulie (who appeared physically to be a good bit older IMO but also referenced being around for the Columbo wars in the 70s, and the drives down south with Johnny Boy in the 60s which he says he was around 20 during that time) ...
Same ep where Junior writes to Dick Cheney because he would be understanding about “accidental gunplay”
just cause i was luxuriating on Ken Leung's acting in the Industry thread ... he's hilarious and brilliant in all these scenes with Junior
Tony killing Ralph is one of the most intense scenes. Ralph deserved to die. But over a horse? Absolute lunatic
You go out for some exercise people give you the god damn third degree. Junior is probably my favorite character
The head of the FBI Newark field office should have been shitcanned for allowing so many informants to get murdered
and it’s what makes Christopher and Paulie stop fighting, killing a waiter in a back alley is what made them get back on good terms. Absolutely hilarious.
