tbf she was only partially sucked out, the actual cause of death was blunt force trauma from her upper body being rag dolled against the plane.

 

John Oliver's show on Boeing details a current vulnerability in the anti-icing system for the engines. If it runs for >5 minutes in dry air, the engine housing can shatter, leading to a variety of bad things happening. One pilot said he keeps a post-it note on the control panel to remind him of this little problem.

I am curious how many times I could get away with going to Home Depot and buying a couple extra bolts to put in my carry on.

Once seated and while taxing to the runway, drop one of the large bolts on the floor loudly. Then pick it up and tap the person sitting in front of me on the shoulder and ask them “did this bolt just fall out of the wall next to your seat?”

I have to think after a few times I would be put on some sort of list.

It’s a spin off of a joke carnies used to play on people who rode the slingshot. You drop a bolt and ask if someone saw it fall out of the seat, right before they would push the button to shoot them straight up.

If you think about it it was stupid to have a big crash the plane button that anyone can accidently hit.

 

Or at least put one of those plastic boxes over it that you have to flip up before you activate it.

 

The article explicitly states that it does “The switch has a cover and isn’t supposed to be used when a pilot is in the seat.”
