Started with the Parmesan fries as a appetizer, then we had the caesar salads. I got the big filet with Broccoli, the wife got the little filet with the garlic butter. We did the chocolate bon bon things for desert. All in all very damn good. We stayed at the Loft hotel, I was happy with the accommodations. We had a lot of fun, it was our first time to Atlanta and I will be back for sure.
People that live in Charlotte / Birmingham / Orlando / Nashville etc. are just butthurt they couldn't hack it in Atlanta. You have all these people who for the most part grew up in 'rural' parts of TN, AL, SC, NC, South GA etc who view Atlanta as some evil place because it's a City. Then they will root for the Atlanta Braves.
this is the most hilarious part to me...but of course - these same people defended the braves leaving Atlanta with "It was never Atlanta's team. It was 'The South's' team." Ooof.
Atlanta has no business being compared to Birmingham or Charlotte. Its bigger than both those cities combined. But it also has no business being compared to the New Yorks, Chicagos, or San Frans of the world either. It is an International city but thats about where the comps end.
Nashville's metro area has ~4million less people than Atlanta's. Atlanta has the 10th highest gdp of any city in america; Nashville is in the 30s. Its just pointless to compare them.
Nashville is fine by me but people still try to act as though it's somehow a better city than ATL. I live in NYC now but will likely move back to Atlanta at some point.
Ate at Restaurant Eugene Friday night. I have to say I was quite underwhelmed considering the reviews I had read. It was a 4 course Valentines pre-fixe menu that ran $125/person. It was good, not great. For a $300+ meal (with wine) I was expecting much more. Bacchanalia is far and away better for the same money. On the subject of getting your monies worth. Ate at Cakes & Ale two weekends ago and it was fantastic. We split 2 entrees and a carafe of wine and got out for under $100. Definitely the best value in fine dining in ATL in my opinion.
Went a few weeks back and got out for ~$140 with 2 entrees, an app, a dessert, two cocktails (by far the most expensive part but totally worth it) and a bottle of wine.
I stopped reading that thread when people shit on Atlanta. It is a solid city. But it isn't a great destination. Same probably for Dallas or Houston type big cities. Lol at anyone saying anything good about Bham and in the same breath saying Atlanta sucks.
Went to Alfredo's Friday for one last trip before it closes. It was awesome as usual. Apparently they're looking to reopen in the same area but haven't found a location yet
People can talk shit about our traffic problems if they live in cities of comparable size but if Birmingham is doing it then we have a problem. They have a fraction of our population and their 20/65 junction is the biggest cluster fuck in the southeast. Hell, 280 is a cluster fuck too. They literally had two jobs and monumentally fucked them up.
Any recommendations on a tax preparer? I've only used turbotax in the past but would like to talk to a professional about grown up things.
I'm excited for Triple 9. Who knows if it will be good, I'm just happy they filmed here AND are having the movie set in Atlanta. They usually just say it's New York still.
Supposed to be really nice, so I'd probably go to the BeltLine and wander around. Plenty of good places to eat/drink assuming you aren't in the wedding. Absurd ass in yoga pants abound, too.
It appears northish. No clue where I'm staying but I can always just put on my suit before lunch and put my tie in my jacket.
Are you under the impression that the Beltline is your personal treadmill/elliptical, or is this more a common courtesy, shopping mall situation?
I just want people to not walk 4-wide, weaving randomly, with no regard for anyone around them and ruin my bike rides.
Places to day drink and eat: Ponce City Market: lots of options Six Feet Under roof at Oakland Cemetery Fox Brothers (heavy texas style bbq) Top Golf on the westside is a driving range with food and Booze but they might have them where youre at...also could eat near there then golf figure out where you are and then we can direct. City is a sprawl.
I loathe people who lack situational awareness so I can empathize. But I also hate cyclists with the fury of one million suns so don't be one of those guys.
