Not developed all that well, but she did break up with her boyfriend recently. Also, who hasn't fallen head over heels for a prisoner in here?
Well for me I was puting myself in his place, I don't think I would flip to doing all of that in prison. You can get hardened and go along with how things are in there without getting tatted and smoking crack. Also if I knew I didn't do it I would be trying to avoid doing anything bad in prison as well that could jeperdize getting out.
you really think you know how you'd behave if you had to survive in Rikers? it seemed dumb to me as well but that's kinda the point. the experience changes you whether or not you're found guilty of a crime ... for me, Stone's monologue sort of washed away the frustrations i had during the middle few eps. a lot of it felt unrealistic but i think the writers wanted to go a little over the top to get their message home. the system is a machine and it will chew you up despite your good intentions. every characters life was significantly altered and the murder is still unsolved ...
i mean ... we dont know for sure he did it, right? unless i missed a scene with him in cuffs. new #1 suspect sure ... thats really not the point though. wrt to Nas' experience, a lot of lives affected, but the case is still open. is that "right?" that's what the show was about IMO ...
The show is a social commentary on the criminal justice system, but the case was not left open. People are looking for closure in the case, but the show wasn't ever really about the actual crime.
i agree with that. i didnt want or need closure at any point. but the case is most definitely open, we're merely lead to believe they found the right suspect ...
For those who want closure, they got a suspect with motive and opportunity. While obviously it doesn't mean he will be convicted it does give a sense of closure to those that want or need it. The BBC show is called Criminal Justice which IMO is appropriate name for the show. The Night of makes you think you'll find out what happened that night.
Stone's closing argument had such a profound effect on me. it was an "ah-ha!" moment that gave me a sense of closure without actually knowing the outcome of the case. stunningly beautiful writing and acting in that segment ...
I think it was actually just a display of the current dating world in this country. It's all texting and apps these days. No more phone calls talking sweet nothings at night. It took Naz 1 goodnight phone call to get a kiss and a pussy full of pills. Pretty sure that was the message the writers were sending
interesting take. i thought it was more of a case where Chandra simply didnt have the chops for big time murder trial. junior. associate, brought in as a token to gain trust with Naz's parents. then her superior bails and it's all her. let herself get too close and got fucked ...
The series wasn't bad but the 1st episode set expectations so high. I felt like there were so many loose ends when it was over, and most people on this board could have done a better job with the plot of each episode/overall season arc. Also, he was freebasing heroin the whole season, not smoking crack.
it was pretty clear throughout the show that she somewhat liked Nas or she wouldnt have stuck her neck on the line to her boss to take the case if she didn't like him
its an anthropology type show so it would show another person with another POV in the Criminal Justice world
Think the word you're looking for is anthology. But yeah, I think this type of show needs to be new characters, new trial every season. Don't see a benefit in them continuing this story.
Binged over the past few days. Think it was good but not great. It couldnt hold up to the bar the first episode set.
I know this isn't what you are supposed to think, or even the point of the show, but I think nas did it.
I liked the show. I binged over a few days last wk and enjoyed it. I think others itt got too caught up in what ifs instead of just enjoying it by watching it wk to wk. Team - Chandra got over her head and too close to Naz and tried to do whatever she could to win the case. Team - This was more about the judicial system than a crime drama Team - the finale was great because Turturro's closing was A+ tv Team - lol at thinking it was crack the whole time
I'd be okay with them making the 2nd series entirely about Bodie. don't care how they do it just make it happen
Don't know if that's goods or bad True detective season 2 was a train wreck Anyways, I am glad he went back for the cat
Binged the series. Thought it was very good. Not great, but very good. Love the format of a single-season crime series like this or True Detective, Manhunt: Unabomber, etc. Any other recommendations? Tried Secret City, but I gave it up too quickly. Should probably stick with it. Haven't read the whole thread, but there were some minor quibbles. Naz beating up the inmate seemed a little contrived in order to fabricate the viewer's doubt. Didn't believe the kiss. Casting of the ADA was not good. The Freddy arc became tedious; however, a secondary story inside Rikers had to be told. The guy who played the lead detective was outstanding, though. His voice, cadence, and demeanor sold me as a subtle beast who could draw out any confession. As always, Arturro was exceptional. The show needed his comic relief. Perhaps most of all, characters didn't play to normal TV tropes. Was happy that none of the cops were over-the-top or even dirty. Each seemed like normal, capable people just trying to do their jobs to the best of their abilities. The story could have easily taken a turn toward conspiracy inside the precinct. edit: Oh, perhaps what bothered me the most was the ADA not asking to approach the defense's forensics expert. She got right in his face. Can't see that happening without the judge reading her the riot act.
I was apprehensive about watching a series about 911, but it’s been a long ass time since then (series starts in ‘98) and really does a good job going into the divisions within the fbi/cia and gives background of the Al Qaeda operatives - which I kinda knew about but not in detail Lebanese FBI agent steals the show and his story is amazing
This is where I am. I have little fire to start a series or watch anything about 9-11. You are selling me, though.
Yeah, I couldn't get through Jack Ryan. I still may at some point. Looming Tower, as you said, was...real. It's definitely worth the watch.
finally came across this and really liked it the lawyer kiss and drug smuggling was definitely awful, but overall I still think it was a really good mini series
