Official thread to discuss and, more importantly, jizz to what should be an all timer of a game Early review dropped and it got a 10. Here's an excerpt...
Can't wait, but I have to since I didn't preorder. Might drive by a Game Stop at midnight to see if there is a long line or even if there are any available.
Game is getting perfect 10s. Have never really played a Zelda, or owned a Nintendo since 64, but I want to play this.
The reviews aren't just good, the reviewers are so rock hard in these reviews that i feel like I'm listening/reading fan fiction
Yeah people are calling this one of the best games of all time already. Probably gonna end up in the same class as OoT. Nintendo delayed it for almost two years, so I'm sure they were dead set on it being perfect.
I'm probably waiting a year or so for other games to come out and make it worth it. All the reviews I've read for the switch say it has lots of potential, but it's pretty bare bones right now. Sucks because this game is getting perfect reviews, but I can't justify buying a machine for one game right now. If it came out at the beginning of this console generation (when no systems had good games), I'm sure I'd feel a little different.
Bought it on the nintendo store and was able to pull in the game before I was able to. Nintendo fucked up in my favor. It's how the game was released for the piracy scene before it ever was released in stores.
My goal is to play through a bunch of the old games before buying this (finished the OG, just got to the Dark World in LttP), but I'm not sure how long I can hold out after reading these reviews. For those that have it, how's it play mobile and is there bluetooth to connect headphones? I'd want to use it on my train ride to work and back.
Hard to watch my gf playing this. She died approximately 10 times in the first 20 minutes and seems to be having major issues controlling the camera.
Fuck you nintendo. I wanna play this game really bad but im not buying a console for one damn game. I wish they were just a software company and didn't force their shitty consoles down everyone's throat
i haven't even gotten to a dungeon and its amazing its a super deep game and i'm nowhere close to getting totally into it
I really don't think it's a bad console. It's just out a little too soon. It'll get better for the holidays, then you should take a harder look at it. Reviewing consoles on launch these days are pointless. Starting with the 360, a launch console is nothing like the console at the end of its life. Hell, we started out with the blades on 360.
I waited a long time for WiiU to drop in price substantially, never did Zelda still amazing, the hour counts on this game are going to be insane. feel like I'm just barely finishing the introductory phase and its been longer than most full games these days.
Hard to tell with no stats screen, but I've probably sunk at least 20 hours into this game already. Best game I've played since Witcher III. Its pretty I have to give it that, with amazing draw distance a little FPS issues (this is on Wii U.) The climbing system is awesome. The best part about this game is no matter how you play it or solve the challenges, it doesn't feel like you're glitching it out or cheesing. Its also great because its HARD. Forgiving in terms of reloading but I wouldn't be shocked if I died upwards of 100 times already. (If I may nitpick) On the downside the voice acting is pretty atrocious and obviously the story is a little stale (but its what we love.) The riding controls are really frustrating. The game also has changing conditions way too much. Its like a big fuck you at times. Trying to climb this mountain? Nope its going to rain. Trying to sneak up on this horse? Nope skeletons are going to spook it. Overall amazing game. Only Zelda game since Majora's Mask to hold my attention like this. Easily up there with Ocarina of Time and Link's Awakening, or dare I say Link to the Past.
I should also mention while the combat system is pretty good, the ability to switch targets seamlessly is weak compared to similar titles.
The voice acting is subpar because they didn't want to spend too much time and money on localization. It IS a bit goofy when there's 2-3 sentences of vocal work followed by paragraphs of text.
Motherfucker. This fucking WiiU had better get here on the 10th like it says, but it's still in fucking NY.
You guys, this is just a wonderful experience. I don't usually enjoy exploring so freely as games tend to just load you down with fetch quests for meaningless characters but I am loving seeing different parts of this map and just having NPCs share a bit of mythos. I have some side quests in my log now but I'm genuinely excited to tackle each of them when I'm done tower hunting.
