It’s my all time favorite. I shit you not, I have 4 of these exact same shirts because I wear them so much they get washed out. Spoiler
Finished it last night and I actually really liked it, specifically the tone shift (from the producers of Barbarian). Cobweb is filled with tropes/cliches but it’s presented from the perspective of the kid. Makes everything a bit off kilter, slightly off beat, a fairytale interrupted by real life and destroyed by a nightmare. Fun spooky season watch.
Watched It Follows sunday night and was pleasantly surprised by how well they pulled off such an absurd concept.
Grave Encounters was pretty bad. Even the fiance that's terrified of anything scarier than Pixar thought it was pretty weak and way too predictable. The upside of this is that she "thinks she's ready for a real scary one" tonight. Open to suggestions on what this ends up being but my first thoughts went to something like Sinister, Conjuring, Hereditary, or even something like the original Paranormal Activity. Straight up gore isn't on the table. I've seen the ones above and wouldn't mind something new but the next movie on my list is REC and I think she's done with found footage movies for this halloween season, so again - suggestions welcome.
Hereditary is hands down the best film on that list but it’s also a tragic and bleak family drama. My 9 year old daughter watched Conjuring and Ouija: Origins of Evil with me and didn’t flinch.
If you take it and treat it seriously, you can make any ridiculous scenario work. It Follows is a master class in that.
should have posted a few that we've watched. This was one of them along with Hell House, Grave Encounters, It Follows, M3GAN, and Knock at the Cabin. I also wouldn't say Talk to Me was scary movie was more of a mix of fun and being cringe at how clingy the main actress was.
We haven’t I don’t think gory slasher movies are really on the table. Tbh I’m not really big into those either even though I think some of them are fun they’re typically not scary at all just jump scares and violence. I’ll give X a shot on my own time though maybe this afternoon
Prob old news but was just recommended Radio Rental and it’s a fantastic spooky podcast. It’s people telling true stories of creepy shit happening to them.
My friend is making me go with him to the movies to see “Terrifier 2”. Never heard of it. anybody saw it?
Bro you’re about to experience what it’s like rummaging in the sewage of hell. Terrifier 1 is free on Tubi
Summer of 84 looks fun and House of the Devil looks real good. Probably going to end up putting the names of a ~8 movies on pieces of paper and have her draw 2 out to watch tonight. Let the Halloween gods decide
Watching Cobweb. It’s whatever. Kind of scary, especially toward the end. Was hoping for better from Antony Starr. The teacher in it is a baddie and is super thiccccc
In Halloween, it seems unforgivable that Michael went to knife Jamie Lee when she didn’t know he was behind her. And all he did was get her arm / rip her shirt. He pretty much never fucks up like that ever again
Going off of obscenities on record during the viewings, Paranormal 1 and Conjuring registered 8.5 and 9.0 on the scary meter. Was ill advised to respond to being asked how sick of a fuck I had to be to enjoy stuff like Conjuring with "its 86% on rotten tomatoes"
Night of the Living Dead: hard 10. Such an accomplishment on that budget. Dawn of the Dead: 9/10. There are some very silly moments in this movie. Kinda turns into abandoned shopping mall wish fulfillment. Not quite as focused as Night was but still incredible. Deep Red tonight
Ate an edible and am popping around horror movie Wikipedia pages. They are insanely profitable. Insidious, sinister, conjuring and all their sequels made so much money and they have tiny budgets
Blumhouse method is to release 10x 5 million dollar movies and hope one makes 50m. There's a lot of misses between the hits
Check out the Paranormal Activity haul. Think the initial movie is about the best ROI out there. As an aside, was pleasantly surprised to see Us and Get Out make as much as they did.
Just finished When Evil Lurks. What a mean fucking movie. Also, I agree with joey jo-jo jr shabadoo that it was kinda ruined by the main character being a fucking moron.
