The battle scenes were just dumb. The tactics and lack of them were just idiotic on both sides. Also, weird to not. Have your typical parting words between Mando and Boba. The dialog is also so childish and slow it bores me to death. This would be like a 3/10 for any sci-if series if it didn’t have the recognizable Star Wars characters. One caveat is given that it was only seven episodes I can’t help but wonder if Covid played a huge role in a lot of the misses like it did with Wheel of Time.
I enjoyed the episode all the way up to the rancor reveal, which was fun, but then it dragged and closed pretty poorly. I’m not like mad or anything but sad it wasn’t all it could have been. Most disappointed if that’s the end of cad bane. They were so smart to bring him into this, and the live version was so well done… but for 6:03 of screentime it seems so anticlimactic and such a tremendous waste. I also hoped/suspected he’d be the one in the tank at the end, but I am hoping that the red light still flashing on his chest (?) was some type of foreshadowing. (And boba and lots of other folks come back from the dead so I’ll hold out hope.) I also was guessing R2 was going to fly the x-wing by and strafe the droids. But rancor was an ok alternative and fit within the story. When boba and mando flew out that was also a nice sequence, until they landed and made themselves into such easy targets. You really don’t choose high ground or something? Most of the fighting (really people running and shooting at and cowering from very slow robots that kept inexplicably catching up with them) was pretty poorly done.
I bet a Baskar spear could go through the shields. Too bad we can't have nice things in this religion.
also i could happy cry every time mando and grogu are together. seeing them embrace each other when they reunited omg my heart
Oh I cringed so hard at that. And their little squirt gun looking blasters. Who thought adding them provided anything positive?
Are the streaming numbers for this low? They just showed every spoiler on a TV spot for the Olympics.
The action in the finale was pretty mediocre. Pretty disappointed with some of the story decisions. Don't like th Grogu decision.
You call that jumping? It looked like someone threw a piece of cloth. In general I feel like I am watching the Muppets at times.
in the scene where he first comes out of the x-wing, his left arm is just dangling and she kind of picks it up and lays it back in front.
I think Grogu eventually making his way back to Mando would have worked but this feels super rushed. For someone that only watches Mando and skips Boba they are going to be super confused. I think they should have at least spent a season apart.
https://www.thedailybeast.com/the-b...asing-the-mandalorian?source=articles&via=rss This popped up on my google feed - yes it’s daily beast - think it sums up my feelings
I definitely didn't hate it like some. There were some weird choices and maybe Robert Rodriguez just isn't that good at working with blue screen and all that because all the action he did this season was fairly lackluster. But there were some cool moments too. Overall this season was quite weird and feels pretty disjointed but it offered up some great moments. But I know Star Wars can be more.
This is where I think covid may have come into it like it did with WoT. I feel like they needed a Luke/Mano handoff, but maybe the cgi just couldn't get done with covid or the budget, or the time. The fact that there are only 7 episodes makes me feel they cut some plans out. 7 is just a weird number to plan for.
I know I mentioned the battle scenes already, but nobody else thought it was ridiculous that they were running away as a pack and not splitting up or that they chose random times to fire back? It was almost like each side took turns firing. Or, let me get to higher ground to keep shooting at the same shield that seems impenetrable to lasers, but we all agree it is the right thing to do and will turn the battle. Give her your gun!
Oh and also the payoff of the entire Tusken Raider massacre is that the syndicate did it and tricked Boba and now he is using his weapon to kill Cad Bane? I am not sure they needed 4 episodes to make that work.
All I know is I waited all season for them to finally treat Boba Fett like a bad ass and for the most part I got it. Didn't like the "trying to make him a good guy" crap. Just let the man kick ass.
As someone who'd never heard of the character until about a week ago, I must say that Cad Bane is a tremendous villain name.
Here’s my theory: Grogu gets trained in the ways of the force by Asoka eventually. It doesn’t make sense for a force sensitive being to be hanging with mando all the time. I feel like Disney will want to capitalize on that eventually. Him coming back to mando is just a short term solution to prevent the inevitable murking by Kylo
That murking wouldn't happen for another like 10-15 years though at least. Maybe more. I can't remember exactly the timeline but it's way off.
Yup Book of Boba Fett happens in roughly 9 ABY The destruction of the Jedi Temple by Ben Solo occurred in 28 ABY
I am still hoping for a scenario where Grogu, Ahsoka, Ezra and Cal are all on a distant planet having created their own force order. This would explain why none of them were involved with the sequel trilogy.
Cal would be older by this point right? Assuming he's like 18-20 in Fallen Order. That would make him 50-55? I'm not exactly sure where Fallen Order is in the timeline.
Feel like cad bane shouldn’t have gone out like that. He was able to get out of all kinds of situations in clone wars. I get that he’s older now but he’s also not a human so I dunno how relatively old he is. Hopefully he’s not really dead although it sure looked like it.
This time it was “fighters” standing completely stiff with their knees locked while firing blasters. I don’t get how that doesn’t look unnatural to anyone on set.
Cad Bane was born in 62 BBY He gets stabbed by Boba in 9ABY. he died at the ripe old age of 71. He was elderly. Good of time as any to give him a good death.
i saw that he was 71 but I hadn’t seen how long his species lived for. Guess he was old for his species. Still wish he lived bc he’s cool
Very true, this post made me feel better about it. Starwars hops around, just because we saw his death doesn't mean he won't get more screentime.
i’m not 100% sold he is dead..that last shot focused on him i think was letting us know there is still life. maybe this is just wishful thinking
That red light was blinking on his chest. No clue what his whole mech layout is for with the tubes and all.
When my son was five or so, we binged through the entire Clone Wars cartoon. Basically, it was his bedtime ritual for about a month. Haven’t seen it since. My son is 12 now, and immediately shouted, “That’s Cad Bane!” when we watched the Boba Fet episodes. Really wish he would have had an escape.
