I know Texas mods feel they have a real shot I tried to tell them its a Bama/Mizzou battle but they will not listen
I honestly don't know. We are close and he does have a pretty good relationship with our players. Biggest factor for us though is his relationship with Grant. Outside of the Georgetown now LSU assistant that's the closest coach he's with. Forever it seemed like MSU/Bama/GT then it was Bama/Texas then Texas/Mizzou now it's Bama/Mizzou. Who the hell knows at this point
Vandy added Sheldon Jeter to its 2012 class tonight to go with AJ Astroth and Kevin Bright suddenly looks a lot better as far as '12 goes
Vandy also getting a transfer from Tulsa G Eric McClellan will have four years to play three...apparently chose VU over Marquette and Gonzaga also, Vandy lost long-time assistant Dan Muller yesterday to the head job at Illinois St, very very happy for him but worried about our recruiting efforts now that we've lost King Rice and Dan Muller in consecutive offseasons to head coaching gigs
Jeff Goodman @GoodmanCBS Arkansas freshman Devonta Abron told CBSSports Mike Anderson said he would be released to transfer elsewhere. Wants to get closer to home.
Brett McMurphy @McMurphyCBS Florida & Kentucky are permanent SEC hoop rivals, meaning Gators-Wildcats will play twice a year
Marc Weiszer @marcweiszer Looks like #UGA-South Carolina as permanent men's hoops rivals as proposed. Play twice a year. Billy Donovan said Florida-Kentucky paired.
Ok, thats not what he proposed. He basally wanted all break the teams into tiers, and have the top tiers play each other twice and so on to help RPI and to get more teams in the tourney.
Robbie Andreu @RobbieAndreu Here are other proposed permanent hoop opponents: Alabama-AU; Mizzou-Arky; Ole Miss-MSU; Vandy-UT; USC-Georgia; and Texas A&M-LSU
Seth Emerson @SethEmerson SEC is studying a new hoops tournament format, where top teams get double byes, according to Florida's Billy Donovan. Similar to Big East. Seth Emerson @SethEmerson Leading hoops schedule idea now is one permanent rival over the next three years, four others rotate. Then in three years it gets revisited.
Not sure that is a great idea since 75% are of the attendees are UK fans. Now they will miss two days of the tournament instead of 1. Just leave it the way it was and leave the bottom two teams out imo
Jon Solomon @jonsol Billy Donovan: SEC bball scheduling proposal would be 1 permanent game twice, 4 rotaters twice, 8 other opponents once. Not approved yet. Brett McMurphy @McMurphyCBS RT @RobbieAndreu: Top 4 teams at end of regular season will get double byes in the SEC hoops tournament, which will start on Wednesday now
JohnLocke Truman Dave Telep @DaveTelep Devonta Pollard will decide 6pm ET Friday at his HS. Georgetown, Texas, Missouri and Alabama.
Are you Bama guys hearing anything on Pollard? Gerry Hamilton (Texas 247 mod and one of the few mods who isn't a massive homer) says he's still hearing it's Texas or Bama and both sides feel good about their chances. He also said Texas is Pollard's top choice for basketball but that doesn't mean he'll end up in Austin. He's also filled out the pre-registration and enrollment paperwork for all 4 schools so things aren't necessarily over even after tonight.
Yeah that's what I'm guessing. Hopefully he sticks with the decision he makes tonight and doesn't pull a last minute switch (unless he doesn't pick Texas) since he doesn't actually have to sign at all and just has to show up when classes start.
Eh...I wish he would've picked before signing day but he hasn't been playing games with anyone and flip flopping on where he's leaning. Like I said above, I just hope he sticks to his decision regardless of who he picks.
I also really think he would've picked MSU if they hadn't fired their coach. His relationship with the coaches and being close to home seem like the biggest factors which is why I think he'll pick Bama.
he was without a doubt was going to MSU before they fired Stansbury. I think Bama/Texas could go either way and don't have any feeling whatsoever which he will choose. He has been very quiet about his recruitment
Agreed, its not like he flipped back and forth. Hell I think the has done it well. Not only has he not spread rumors or play games, no one in his circle has either. Well if you want to play that game, Rodney Purvis was coming to Mizzou, before all the Miami shit came out and pointed to Haith, which so far he seems to have stayed out of.
I don't know what the deal with Purvis is but I think it was pretty widely assumed that Pollard was going to MSU. Even since he's dropped them, he's mentioned that distance and his relationship with the coaching staff are two of the biggest (if not the biggest) factors for him and MSU had significant advantages with both before they fired their coach.
Thu, Nov 29 Kentucky at Notre Dame Marquette at Florida South Carolina at St. John’s Seton Hall at LSU Fri, Nov 30 Syracuse at Arkansas Tennessee at Georgetown DePaul at Auburn Georgia at South Florida Sat, Dec 1 Alabama at Cincinnati Villanova at Vanderbilt Mississippi State at Providence Rutgers at Mississippi
Syracuse's AD is trying to bitch out of the SEC/Big East challenge and not play @ Arkansas, but they are locked in. I guess he was pissed about some lack of communication between the Big East and himself, but they are locked into that game. Love our non-conference schedule so far this year: 11/23 - vs. Wisconsin, Arizona State or Creighton in Las Vegas 11/24 - vs. Wisconsin, Arizona State or Creighton in Las Vegas 11/30 - Syracuse ????? - Oklahoma ????? - at Michigan much better than the dogshit we normally play before conference season starts giving me false hope about our postseason chances
Syracuse loses a ton. And we are going to be a ton better with Powell back, BJ Young back for one more year, and we actually have some good depth this next year. Not sure what Michigan is returning but we beat them last year and we weren't even any good.
