They will let you go loose dong if you're a potential buyer. Glad I did test before buying. I initially was going to go for the max line Bullfrog spa and ended up finding out that it was a horrible fit.
Anyone have any good cooking pots that they like? Lyrtch , you recommended some great, reasonably priced knives a few months ago, so maybe you have something similar for pots
I’m no expert but I’d be careful around non stick with all the issues coming out in the forever chemicals in teflon and the like. 3M and DuPont have lost a couple cases with 3M just agreeing to a settlement of $10.3B for the damage they’ve done to the water using these chemicals in their products of which a main use of PFAS is in teflon. I think there are like 10 states currently with legislature in to ban the use and sale of products with these components in them.
I wanted something chemical free, nonstick, and induction friendly. Went with a greenpan set and have been quite happy
All-Clad Sign up for their factory seconds sale and you can get a good discount on damaged packaging merch and a great discount on scratch and dent. I’ve bought both and outside of a damaged cardboard box that’s going in the trash I’ve only ever found one defect. I washed with barkeepers friends and it was good to go. For knives, I’m a broken record, but my knife maker friends all joke they can’t afford to keep their own knives. Victorinox Fibrox is what they all recommend unless you’re wanting to drop some extra cash. They are AEBL steel in most cases which is a great blend of corrosion resistance and edge retention while still being capable of sharpening at home. ATK (they’ve never pointed me in the wrong direction) agrees. Edit to add: Here's some deeper reading on AEBL. The author's father is a famous knife maker. His son took an interest in the "why" aspect of steel selection and heat treating. He got his PhD in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering and works for US Steel. He has a lot of testing instruments that most people don't have access to unless you work for a large manufacturer like Boker, Benchmade etc. https://knifesteelnerds.com/2019/03/04/all-about-aeb-l/
https://www.all-clad.com/d3-stainless-everyday-10-piece-pots-and-pans-cookware-set.html Will the factory sale have cheaper options than this?
They don't have that exact set (they do have the non-stick version but the point of this investment for most is getting away from that coating). For that price and to just be done with it I'd consider pulling the trigger (I've cooked with D5 but not D3, but they all get great reviews). The two caveats being: people either love or hate the all-clad handles and there's a learning curve to cooking in stainless. I fall into the camp of liking their handles and the learning curve for stainless isn't as bad as cast iron so it's worth it to me. I have the copper core, but in ATK's reviews I think they generally determined it's not worth the extra money. However, I've only ever bought them on Black Friday etc. so I didn't pay a ton for them. Tramontina is supposed to be a good alternative to All Clad now that the patent has expired, but some people have had more warping issues with Tramontina if you believe everything your read. I've never used them so I can't say.
I think their handles fine but they aren't my favorite. My advice would be that you really only need one so get one on the larger side and see if you enjoy it. I think it makes cooking much, much more enjoyable than using non-stick and opens up some new avenues for things like pan sauces and anything else that incorporates fond. All-clad are nice but if you're looking for something a little cheaper, Made In are supposedly nice too. I have their Dutch oven because Lolcruset is stupidly overpriced now and it's very nice.
anyone have recommendations for cameras for the interior of a place? i want to be able to watch my dog when i work.
If you don’t mind slightly different shades, LeCreuset can be had reasonably priced. Reds and grays in particular get phased out and something one shade off takes its place. I got my 5.5 qt for $140 and the 3.5 qt for $149, both through Williams Sonoma. One is a cherry red and the other is a blaze red or something like that. After they’ve been used a month it’s impossible to tell the difference. I know Made In had a huge social media push, but I’ve never made a purchase with them. Since they got caught lying about being “PFAS free” when they weren’t, their social media/influencer following seems to have decreased based on a sample set of only my newsfeed.
We use something kind of like this with two months on it but left ours at the old house (my inlaws now) when we moved. Need to get that thing back asap.
gifted two sonos ones from like 2018 trying to get those set up as a pair in one room is a nightmare, sonos stays being the worst
razer 16 2024 gaming laptop - 4090 nvidia card, 32 gb memory changed my life. to actually go for top of the line quality computer... no lag on these damn programs... work/gaming smooth as butter. thought i was stupid for spending 4k on a laptop but extremely happy with the outcome.
I got mine 10 years ago with a 10% coupon, I haven’t seen anything much more than that unless it was reconditioned. It just does what it’s supposed to do, every single time. No “ragrets” from my perspective, because it got me out of replacing them about once a year.
to be honest i haven't really tested the battery limits. i'd say I could run warzone a couple hours but not more. it's mostly plugged in for me though - I like the ability to take it to work, home, and lets say I want to meet the folks and sneak an edible and have mum cook... can still cod with the boys with minimal effort (no need for moving a box or screen). plus there is also battery saving mode and I'm not sure how long the battery is just doing regular daily stuff how long that would last.
The MSI laptop I bought a few years ago has terrible battery life. I was going to try and replace the battery but if that doesn't work I might be in the market for a new laptop. Even on battery saver if I'm just doing some mundane tasks on the couch it lasts maybe an hour at most.
helpcomputer Parents want a new desktop/tower. They won't buy into the idea of building one together, not that I'm too informed there. They're looking for one that is used for video/YT, Turbo Tax, Word, email, the usual. Nothing in the realm of video editing etc. Tried to sell them on a Dell Optiplex. Suggestions around 5-600?
I do honesty think Best Buy does a great job with this. In most cases they take care of old people and steer them right.
I exclusively wear Madewell jeans now. Slim fit. I prefer a zipper but Clown Baby likes the button fly.
I don’t really wear dungarees but I was at an event recently and they were measuring a sending a couple pairs of Blue Delta to everyone.
I’ve given up trying to fix/fuck with our current dishwasher. A week of handwashing and paper plates until this beaut arrives.
Best Buy giftcards after buying appliances, was less expensive than installing surround sound in the house.
Ahem, top of the line laptop. Top of the line pc master race would like to have a word But seriously thats a nice laptop.
I've had Pelican case for the last 5ish years. It's $50, basic/slim, good protection, and lifetime warranty. They have sent me multiple replacements on old case before I got the iPhone 14 and had to get a bigger size. They're solid
