Pretty weak opener, but was intrigued enough to keep watching and see if it gets better. Certainly has potential
Thing about weak HBO shows, as already alluded too, is they still have tremendous production value and quality actors. So that will always keep me bought in on Sunday nights to an extent ...
2nd ep was good. Show is getting deeper. I’m curious what the foreshadowing between the preacher chick and Emily was all about.
yeah i'm getting in to it. i also was off on the era apparently (post WWI when i thought it was post WWII). preacher chick will be an interesting character, and in general the evangelism of that time period with all the props and costumes is both appealing on TV and a bit freaky to watch. also like the black policeman and it'll be good incorporate some racial dynamicsof the time in to the show ...
Guess I need to watch the next to last scene again? I guess the Yale lawyer has some sort of slick way to get Perry prepped for the Bar exam?
Not sure if it was slick or just that the exam hasn't been adjusted in years and he's helping him to take out the current DA basically. The slick part was Della forging JBs signature so Perry could sit for the exam ...
Idk why I kept watching this show. I guess Sunday night programming is meh. I can’t really point to anything I specifically enjoyed about it but I’ll give season two another go.
Matthew Rhys is really my only reason for slugging through. I didn't care much about the case or other characters, except Della and her voice (liked her since the knick)
i didn't see a thread up but C.B. Strike which is on HBO Max has been a solid binge in anticipation of PM2, if looking for a PI-style crime drama ...
Is anyone else enjoying this as much as I am? I think it’s really good. I’m also a huge fan of anything film noir… but this is good
agree, and I wasn’t expecting the development with the cousins so early in the season. No idea where it’s going but have to assume the dad is somehow involved
a bit slower but still another solid ep this show is really good and I hope they green light additional seasons
I think it’s getting good ratings. I love the show but not as much as my grandfather. He grew up listening to Perry Mason stories on the radio and has watched all the shows and movies and this is his favorite adaptation. He said they’re nailing the “feel” of it and likes the actor.
I don’t think it was the teacher at all. I just think Perry trusts Pete too much to even assume it could have been him
I assume it was Pete, but I remain skeptical that Pete would know how to get into that safe to know the gun is in there? Isn't a numbered safe? Also, I absolutely love this show. It's just such a good world with the noir, history, and acting... so well done.
This isn't a show that's meant to be everyone's cup of tea, but the acting and writing are just incredible.
It’s a solid B+ tier show imo. I don’t instantly watch it each week, I won’t be heartbroken if it’s not renewed, but it’s certainly better than most programming.
I love it. It’s very well done and the acting is great. They really capture the noir style of LA and I’ve always been a fan of films in that genre like LA Confidential
