Season 4 spoiler, sort of Spoiler halfway through 3 and this is off the rails. Kinda hate all the new characters and you have to take suspension of belief to a whole new level. However, I’m so invested that I have to see it through, at this point
Didn't have shit going on for work today so I plowed through and just got done with part 1 of season 4 which is 7 eps as stated above. Spoiler I really do love this show but as someone above said, you really have to fully commit to suspend your disbelief to enjoy it. Even more so as the seasons have progressed. That's why it's not in the top echelon of crime dramas for me but because it's so unrealistic in almost every way, that's also a reason why it's so addictive. They can make huge plot twists on a dime and you can't predict it because it's so wild. Like I said, I love it and am pissed we have to wait for the last 7 eps but I get it how it's not exactly to some people's taste. I also go back and forth on loving Ruth as a character and hating her. That's a testament to how strong Julia Garner's performance is playing her. I want to slap Ruth for being such a dumb redneck most of the time and that's exactly what that character has been from the beginning. The acting is great all around but she really kills it.
Another thing that strikes me as odd is with all the money Wendy and Marty make, both on and off the books, can they not splurge a little and get a couple of nicer vehicles?
Me: Gah damn, Jonah has gotten so much older. Also Me: Darlene's "baby" still an infant after all these years. Interesting. Season 4 has been the best since season 1, so that's a big deal. I didn't love season 3, so this one has been refreshing. Edit: Also, the new Private Investigator looks eerily similar to the old weirdo cop from the first couple of seasons.
In case you didn't know, season 4 is a planned ending, so no season 5. https://www.forbes.com/sites/paulta...-is-not-the-plan-for-netflix/?sh=b67169d5406f
Saw your post before the edit Spoiler ...and you might have edited it because of this but, I was curious and just went back to check and Ruth does say "and they killed Darlene too" when she's confronting Marty and Wendy with the shotgun.
Spoiler Yeah, I went back and watched again. She does say "they killed Darlene" and it also looks like Darlene was shot in the heart, though he could have missed. I then looked up to see about season 5, because I was prepared to double down on my take, but then saw that it wasn't going to happen, so now I think Darlene is probably dead.
Disclaimer: I hate nit picking small things from shows and this one isn't that big of a deal but just throwing it out there: I highly doubt people in Missouri speak with a deep south accent. Well obviously the ascents in the show are horribly fake and no one even in the deep south talks like that. But lake of the ozarks is an 11 hour drive straight north from me, it's no where near the south. There is definitely a midwestern ascent and my friends from Missouri talk with it. Sounds similar to the way a bunch of people from Ohio that I know talk.
Think it may be where they are from in the state. People from Joplin and Springfield have a southern accent. Nothing like the show, but maybe lake trash talks like that. Never been to lake of the ozarks but I’ve heard it’s amazing. The people from St Louis and KC I know don’t have southern accents
I don't know about Lake of the Ozarks specifically but Missouri is a weird state and does have all sorts of dialects. For example, Kansas City is just 2.5 hrs from Omaha and Des Moines yet southeast Missouri is only ~1.5 hr from Memphis.
Like to binge but hate how hard it is to discuss the show when it’s all released at once especially in this thread. You have no idea where everyone is at
I'm middle of ep 2 and, my god have these characters worn their welcomes out for me. I still have a soft spot for Ruth but everything else is fucking dreadful. Javi, btw - what a fucking retread. This impatient, cocky, lone wolf (for all we know) disruptor is so played out.
4 episodes in. This season has been pretty damn good so far. I think it is potentially better than some of the previous seasons.
Started the new season. It blows my mind that when they put warnings on shows like violence or language, that they include smoking. Fucking smoking. I guess there are people on this planet that would be offended by that.
old people get offended by the weirdest things (see gambler crying about a meaningless warning label)
5 episodes in, entertaining but horrible. I’m fine with it but please don’t ever tell me it’s a great show, makes 24 seem realistic
