I didn't think The Punisher movie was that good, but I did like the ending and think he should be a nice addition to Daredevil.
From everything I have read, they are going with the darker version of Punisher for Daredevil. More similar to the Punisher played by Ray Stephenson in the "sequel" Punisher: War Zone. Movie is pretty much rated the same critically, but it's definitely a Punisher with more of a "gives zero fucks" attitude toward what he's willing to do to criminals.
Just finished it. Really enjoyed that. To put it plainly, I have less than zero knowledge of comic books or their character stories and all that, so this is all brand new to me. One question, and it may be obvious, but like I said I'm a rookie: Spoiler Who was the guy Stick went back to and told that he wasn't sure if Matt was ready?
Couple questions for the comic book guys. 1. Is Punisher a good guy or bad guy? I know the name, but nothing about him 2. This Jessie Jones show on NF - what's the premise? I see it takes place in this universe.
Punisher technically is a good guy, I guess. He kind of straddles the line between bad and good, but his intention is to take down criminals. Unlike some comic book characters he isn't afraid to murder people he deems deserving of it though.
1. He's probably the first true anti-hero. He only goes after bad guys, but he's readily willing to kill, which puts him at odds with most of the more mainstream heroes in the MU. 2. Jessica Jones. In the comics, she has has superhuman strength and flight. It looks like they might be avoiding the flight power in the show. She's basically an emotionally damaged character with a drinking problem who opens a detective agency when she walks away from being a hero. The show apparently revolves around something that happened to her involving Purple Man (villain with mind control powers). Luke Cage is apparently a love interest. He will have his own series coming up, and Daredevil, Jones, Cage, and Iron Fist all eventually have a Defenders series after all their respective first seasons have aired. Daredevil will be at least two seasons deep at that point.
Iron Fist is that dude I didn't know much about a lot of these characters until I started playing Marvel Contest of Champions on my phone, now I'm hooked. I've read up on a lot of the ones I enjoy fighting with the most. Punisher, Dare Devil, and Iron Fist all feature on it.
Iron Fist is granted the power of some magical dragon because he's the chosen one. There's 7 heavenly cities where each chosen one is granted the power of some magical entity. Luke Cage is invulnerable skin. In one of the trailers Jessica Jones does appear to fly or jump crazy high.
The rumors are that Marvel is dropping Iron Fist because of not finding the right script/showrunner, and the Punisher will have his own series and also take Iron Fist's place in the Defenders.
I've read this, and there has been enough smoke to get me worried. I love Iron Fist, and they sowed the seeds for his appearance very well in the first season of DD. I don't really know why they'd be scared to go into the mystical realm with Dr. Strange releasing next year. Punisher is great as an ancillary character, but I'm not sure he would fit with The Defenders, or even carry his own series well for that matter.
According to Quesada at Marvel, the Iron Fist rumors aren't true and it is still in development. I hope this is true but I'm still a little skeptical. http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/GraphicCity/news/?a=127150
They're both equally good in their own ways Daredevil is probably better written. Ritter and Tenant give better performances than their respective counterparts.
Got Netflix for myself after the new year. Just finished Daredevil and loved it. Can't wait for S2. Gonna start JJ today and then maybe some of the other Netflix titles.
Sweet. I'll have to do HoC. Heard great things. I've seen 3 seasons of Sherlock. I think s4 just started? What about Marco Polo? Is that the title? A buddy recommended it.
Quality of House of Cards dropped off a cliff after the first episode of the second season, IMO. I could barely get through the third season. I honestly thought it was pretty terrible.
Negative. Dump and I both love Anna Kendrick. I just thought the writers lost their way more than a bit when Frank made his way where he wanted to be. Still enjoyed the second season with him getting there. Third was a mess, IMO.
Yeah, it's gone steadily downhill. I'm hoping they treat it like a presidential term and make season 4 the last one
Nah. They gon' Homeland the fuck out of HOC. Homeland would have been perfect if it ended after season one ( with one difference that I think is easy to guess ). Instead, lets drag out that Brody shit for years.
DD was consistently better over the entire season, but I'd still lean JJ as the better show. Performances were way better IMO and I'd rather a show have some great peaks than be consistently pretty good.
