Like I said, while I thought it was very good, I wasn't blown away. But I think next season has the chance to be amazing with Fisk in prison and hopefully the introduction of Elektra and Bullseye. Similar to how much better Arrow got in its second season.
I thought the first season was a little soon to bring Kingpin in. Should have gone with some lesser villains with a looming plot of a mysterious underworld leader and then bring him in second season. Just my opinion.
I think it made a ton of sense to have Kingpin involved now with NYC and Hell's Kitchen in particular rebuilding after the Chitauri attack. Let alone it being an incredibly well written and acted character. They did a great job portraying how fearful people are of Fisk. I have to imagine they plan on keeping Fisk all the way through The Defenders.
Don't get me wrong, I love the character and the acting was outstanding, but with Kingpin being the primary badguy for Daredevil, I just thought it was a little soon.
Just finished... it was phenomenal. Lived up to my expectations. The fight scenes were incredibly done also... There is no comparison between this and Arrow. I love Arrow but this is definitely superior. Plus it's not fair to compare the two. One has to work within the confines of network television where the other has the freedom to do just about whatever they want..... I mean a dude got his head fucking decapitated by a guy using a damn car door. I've never seen some shit like that before.
I think the two shows are comparable. Their respective platforms allow DD to take more liberties in language and levels of violence, but the overall quality of the plot arcs can be held to the same scale. I'd probably put the first season of DD above the first season of Arrow, but I think the comparison is fair. My point in comparing the two series was DD could easily make the same leap forward in its second season as Arrow did when you consider Fisk gaining control of prison and (hopefully) the inclusion of Elektra and Bullseye. As for those who weren't fans of bringing Fisk out of the shadows from jump street, I actually think it was a great decision by the writers. We didn't only witness the birth and growth of DD, but also Kingpin. Those two characters are so linked in the comics, I found it very satisfying the show decided to also link their origins and growth so tightly together. It also adds to why Kingpin will eventually hate Daredevil so deeply.
I've only seen 2 eps and I am already blown away. I'm not a fan of the graphic violence, but I'm typically not facing the screen so I don't see it.
THAT'S WHERE I KNOW HIM FROM! This whole time I keep thinking "Foggy looks so god damn familiar to me, but why?" Weird seeing him go from hockey goon to nerdy lawyer.
Just started the pilot, this bitch from true blood is still refusing to show them thangs. It is kind of upsetting. More in depth analysis to follow.
D'Onofrio's Samaritan monologue is incredible. I loved this show. It felt like a party the entire time. That said, I'll be disappointed if Daredevil doesn't somehow cross into the movies (heard rumors they'd like to bring the Defenders into the next Avengers). A Daredevil and Cap fight needs to happen.
I have to wonder if they are at least going to be mentioned in Civil War. I realize the plot won't revolve around unmasking as the comics, but The Defenders are pretty much the only "masked" vigilantes in the game right now until Spider-Man. Would make sense if the masked "heroes" are one of the catalysts that *probably* makes the world governments decide these people need to answer to a government controlled organization.
people trying to compare this to Arrow are nuts. I really enjoy Arrow, but the work done on this show blows it out of the water. it's just a higher level of television from the acting to fight choreography to the writing or to whatever else you want to point to. this was flat out a well done show, regardless of genre. I'm actually a little bit worried they will struggle to maintain that level of storytelling as they get deeper into the mythology. either way, I'm really looking forward to it. if they can maintain this level as they tie these stories together it would really be incredible.
Episode 8 (kingpin's back story is incredible) Vanessa went from wary art gallery worker to a trap queen pretty quickly
i know a lot about marvel and pretty much all the big names, but didnt know much about daredevil to be honest besides that hideous disgusting ben affleck shit. Fulton Reed being Foggy, im glad you pointed that out Corch cause it was bothering me. Anyways, great show. Karen is pretty damn cute, a little moley though but other than that i like her. The casting could NOT be better with Cox and D'onofrio Leland was a huge fag the whole season, glad he got got. Fantastic series so far, really enjoyed it
Two episodes in, really enjoying it thus far. Never been a big Daredevil guy, but the reviews were so strong that I decided to check it out, happy I did. That one continuous shot to end the latest episode was awesome.
Just finished the series. I was rooting for Foggy to get with Karen, but kinda thought it was okay the way they portrayed her. She's seriously the kind of cute/hot combo that I can't resist and I may watch an episode of True Blood just to see her (but really probably won't). I also can't decide between blonde her and redhead her. Also, as a Daredevil (casual) comic fan, I was upset that Owlsley got killed. I would've much rather him go away for something financial and then possibly come back in future seasons. Also, he should've been smarter than that and I wouldn't've minded if he was pulling more strings all along.
I imagine it was quite the shit hole probably through the 80s, but I feel like all of Manhattan is fairly affluent now just based on cost of living
Amazing how TV fucks with ones perception of reality. Every show has made Hell's Kitchen out to be a horrible area.
It was a bad area. "In 1959, an aborted rumble between rival Irish and Puerto Rican gangs led to the notorious "Capeman" murders in which two innocent teenagers were killed. By 1965, Hell's Kitchen was the home base of the Westies, a deeply violent Irish American crew aligned with the Gambino crime family. It was not until the early 1980s that widespread gentrification began to alter the demographics of the longtime working-class Irish American neighborhood. The 1980s also saw an end to the Westies' reign of terror, when the gang lost all of its power after the RICO convictions of most of its principals in 1986."
Regardless, Cox then went on to reveal when the second season of Daredevil will start shooting and how he believes the return of the show will impact plans for the other solo series' and The Defenders. "We’ll begin shooting in the second half of the year. It’ll be the same timeline as the last show, so season two will come out about this time next year. Again, I’m imagining all this, but there’ll probably do Iron Fist or Luke Cage at the same time, followed by the other one [of the two] in the first half of 2016 and then maybe Defenders in the second half of 2016 or the beginning of 2017." Rumour has it that Daredevil and his fellow street level heroes will appear inAvengers: Infinity War, so the next few years are looking very busy indeed for Charlie Cox...
wasnt very interesting, between him and his dad. I was kinda just waiting till the scene was over. Also didnt really like the parts with ben urich, and im not sure why
