I don't know about the bugs deal. But in general, reality shows giving little food and tons of alcohol have been their main play since Real World was popular.
Its interesting watching first 2 seasons of Love Island then the ones after where they clearly don't allow them free access to alcohol anymore. More American shows need to have that policy.
I didnt mind Izzy so far, although his interest in Stacy is hilarious given the fact she has seemingly had no meaningful conversation with him. It could be editing, but its still hilarious. I just doubt that ends up being successful as I think she will get bored or run from any form of commitment. Milton is about to get taken for a ride on the crazy train with Lydia. She is absolutely bonkers and her last conversation with Alyhia was stage 5 clinger sounding, I am not shocked she bounced after that. The Firefighter and teacher seem like a good match as I think she wants to settle down and be a wife/mom. I am curious to see if she can handle his quiet nature of if it ends up being good for her. I give Chris credit for shutting things down once it was clear he was Johnnies second choice. I think this is the smallest group of couples they have every had, right? They currently only have 3 committed with 2 other potential groups. I feel like we have always had at least 5 going into the honeymoon phase. There has to be some fireworks that happen moving forward to keep things interesting.
Part of me believes the EP's have taken the mask off of this being a social experiment. The previews for Fridays next batch of episodes show a ton of folks who weren't matched meeting up afterward. I wonder if you play your cards right and have a big enough personality that you could cheat the system and just get TV time afterward without being bunkmates with someone you don't really like.
I honestly dont think if people meet up after the pods that it breaks the spirit of the experiment. At the end of the day, people are getting to know each other on a very deep and personal level before meeting. I think thats the importance of the experience, at least from a TV perspective. I agree on the big personalities and Johnnie is a good example. There is no way they invested as much time as they did in her story for the first 4 episodes to just cut her from the show.
I have to guess the producers were not expecting to be down to 2 couples by this point of the process. Still pretty surprised that both Taylor and Uche ended things. I understand it more from Uches perspective, she just straight up left and said nothing. At the same time, he’s not giving enough credit to how toxic the situation had likely become for Aaliyah, seeing how nuts Lydia is I am sure it was a tough situation. The Taylor decision is far more perplexing to me. She barely gave it any time to grow and seemingly talked about the awkwardness constantly. JP’s makeup comment sort of made sense, at least for his initial quietness, but still strange all around as he seemed to still be a good guy.
JP/Taylor thing is weird. I’m only 2 episodes in on the new ones but JP seems like a completely different person.
I checked out her Instagram page today and it gave me a little more clarity on what might have happened. It’s very clear from her instagram that she’s a very dolled up with makeup and lives that type of lifestyle. My theory is that she lives a very different lifestyle than what JP wants and I’m guessing he became aware of that. It was probably a shock to him and he was trying ti process it but was doing a bad job. It’s the only thing that seems to make sense.
I just want to know if jp owns any clothes that aren't America themed. Weird couple, glad they are gone. Just a really weird season.
Finished this batch. Izzy and Stacy are just mean people. Also highly doubt she's marrying his broke ass.
I don't think JPs comment made much sense. Especially considering she's a person who clearly uses botox and other methods to enhance herself. It's a pretty shitty thing to just out right say that she uses too much makeup and that's why he completely shut down. We don't have to get into the layers of males dictating what is beautiful. But the warning signs are there in the exchange between these two. His inability to communicate irl makes me believe that his sisters filled out his application or something. I also can't get over a grown adult being that obsessed with American flag objects and colors. It's like he's Linus from The Peanuts.
We’re gonna need to have a discussion about the men on this show wearing short to medium length athletic socks with their dress shoes. I understand that “love” is blind but y’all w-length athletic socks with their dress shoes.
I watched it with my partner last night, and we both noticed that Izzy got a real alpha male with Johnnie, a side that we have never seen him put out there with Stacy. Stacy clearly told us as little as possible about her background and played up the cool girl frame of mind for screen time. The tone deafness that her family has is astonishing .
When I posted the other day I didnt realize we still had roughly 20 minutes left in the last episode, so I missed all of this until last night. Izzy came off like a psycho in that exchange with Johnnie, the best part was him repeating back what Johnnie had told him and then completely misunderstanding her point. Johnny 100% got spiteful after she was turned down and said some mean things about Stacy but they also were very truthful statements, so I dont think she was shady in any way. Stacy wanted nothing to do with Izzy's energy when he came back from that conversation. Stacy just sucks all around, there's no substance to her and its clear why she is still single. I chuckled when she went on and on about money and how much she/her family has, then got shitty when Izzy suggested dinners would be a 50/50 split in a committed relationship.
Also, I did not understand the point of the Uche - Lydia discussion, like what was Uche trying to get out of that? Was he just trying to drag her on TV to make himself feel better? From the previews, it looks like there will be more fallout from that exchange, curious to see how Milton takes it all.
Her dad all but confirmed that she was raised to believe that 50/50 splits were not cool. I can't take someone seriously who publicly calls out someone for not having a passport. How about you be excited that you get to do all of these things with your partner for the first time instead of sharing that type of shit with your family. She reminds me so much of people that I went to HS with who have zero grasp on reality and live in a bubble of privilege, and I say all of this as someone who finds Izzy to be a tool. Izzy straight up had real in-depth conversations with Johnnie (She knew about his credit debit and apartment in the pods) and had uber surface-level conversations with Stacey.
I think he wants confirmation of why she was stalking people. You are probably right that he wants to drag her on air for messing up his relationship. I also think that an EP or two ramped this thing up because they really don't have that much content this year.
JP is like a 12 year old stuck in a 30 year olds body. The American flag clothes, being afraid of girls with makeup on, a 9 word vocabulary.
Her making a huge deal about him not having plates is so insane. She would make him throw them out if he moved in anyhow.
While I agree that she acts like a dick. The dude could drop by his local Target and buy some silverware for 39.99
For sure but does it really matter? I mean I could never imagine cooking for a girl and giving a plastic plate and a red solo cup but hes just good looking enough it probably doesn't matter with like 23 year old girls in Houston.
While my GF and I were watching we said that Izzy’s apartment looks like he just got out of a relationship lol - No plates/silverware - The weird flower decor (looking like Hobby Lobby, they said on the show) - The “lost and found” drawer wasn’t terribly weird but having Bobbi pins was something that seemed weird to hang onto after a random girl came over a few months ago. This comes from someone who lived alone/was single for multiple years and did not care about decorating at all.
Yeah, earlier I said he’s like a 12 year old, but socially he might be about 6 months old. It’s like he’s been locked in his house since birth.
I don’t remember. I feel like they got engaged so early you didn’t see a lot. Maybe I have that wrong. Definitely remember that weird kiss now that you mention it. Can only imagine how wild he would have gone if he liked her makeup.
We’re now watching the 2nd season of Ultimatum. I have realized the key on these shows is just say you own a business. No one will ask what it is, they’ll just assume you’re like Bill Gates.
Terrifying. Says she was in the navy like her husband but yeah. That family is very intense, I really love Milton though.
Agree. I wasn’t trying to negatively lump him in with JP and Uche but they all just seem a little off at times. I will say in the more recent episodes he seems more normal than he did early on, probably just took time to get used to the cameras and stuff.
One of the females that got engaged but didn’t get featured this season is alleging sexual assault honestly this show should probably go away
