I think the reaction to Loki is similar to the reaction a lot of D+ Star Wars content has gotten: Fans of the product are just happy to have more product. Viewers who expect good TV (not just good Marvel TV or good Star Wars TV, etc) are finding flaws that others can't (or don't want to) see.
You dont like 5/6 of the episodes to be setup episodes? Spoiler Assuming episode 6 wont also just be a setup episode for a movie
I could live with it being boring, but somehow all of the fun little chemistry parts of the Loki/Mobius partnership from s1 are completely gone and I don't get it. If you would have told me in s1 that s2 was going to show Mobius in his prior life selling jet skis, I would have marked it on my calendar because there was no way they could screw that up. And instead we got a blob of nothing. I don't know if the actors are just over it and phoning it in or if the scripts are just terrible, but there's just nothing really entertaining about this season to me, which is a problem when the plot is non-existent, too.
I still think this is by far the best marvel tv show. Not sure why people would be down on this season if they liked season one.
Best of the D+ shows. The others have felt half baked. Even Loki s1 felt stretched really thin in the middle
Wandavision is my clear number two. It’s highs were just as good or better then Loki but the ending was a big letdown.
Has there ever been an explanation why Wandavision and Shu-Hulk didn’t have to follow the 6 episode formula?
Probably just depends on what kind of show you want to do. Both those those shows had more episodes, but they were shorter (usually 25-30 minutes taking out credits). Most of the other ones are usually at least 40-45 minutes, with some pushing 50.
I think it’s all about saving the tva, and by extension, the variants that make it home. There’s bigger references to avoiding a multi Kang war or “end of all time” or whatever, but those plot points aren’t working for me/ aren’t real until it comes up in a movie. That’s why I’m focusing on the smaller story.
I think Loki is trying to save the TVA to stop the Kang variants from coming. Sylvie is helping but doesn't care about the TVA and is only doing it because she now thinks the TVA dying means the people on the branches die. None of the other people seem to know what's going on and are just confused and following Loki because he looks like the only one trying to do anything while the TVA is dying. And the problem with a lot of this is we're 5 episodes into a 6 episode season and we have no clue if Loki is right about the Kang variants, or if Sylvie is right about what happens to people if the TVA dies.
I can’t figure out how one could say every one of these episodes in s2 are just set-ups. This latest episode was the least action-packed and it still had stunning visuals and effects and interesting backstories of the cast of characters’ lives on the timeline. And it isn’t a monster of the week show, is every episode supposed to climax and resolve? It’s a movie split into six parts. And OB is a treasure and a gift that we wouldn’t have without s2. So fuck off.
Does this change anything with Kang/Majors going forward? Or was this the ending they always envisioned and this kept the door open for the variants?
No clue, a lot of the nerd casts I listen to expect a recast though. I think this was probably always the ending but it does give them an out to move forward without Majors. On that note, I guess there’s some movie that Majors was so good in he was basically an Oscar shoe in but now Disney is delaying it. That’s got to mean a Kang recast is coming.
Thought this whole season was awesome. Finale was incredible. Really sucks about Majors, he was excellent once again.
Googled it. Majority that have seen say he would win best actor for this but Disney is delaying permanently. Recasting seems to be the play.
I really enjoyed the finale, although my lack of comics knowledge/appreciation probably keeps it loving it like people who have that based on the Twitter reactions I've seen. Main takeaway is that Loki cares an absurd amount for Sylvie considering what he got out of that relationship. Maybe I'm a horrible person, but after centuries (millennia?) of dealing with all that shit because of her choice and refusal to change it even in the face of knowing what it brings, I don't think I would have had much of a problem killing her in that moment and going on with my life.
That’s a mindfuck. I was wondering as the episode went on how Loki could continue to function in the MCU with super time god powers and not solve every issue, but now he’s got a 24/7/365/∞ job so he’s too preoccupied to instantly fix every plot conflict going forward.
I know what I want I know what kind of God I need to be For you For all of us Chrono-God King Loki is going to fuck Kang up
Thought this was pretty cool: Loki's glorious purpose, which he sought for centuries, is now confirmed to be his ultimate sacrifice, giving up his freedom so that others can use their free will to forge their own path. Odin once told Thor and Loki that they were born to be kings. In the end, Thor became king of Asgard, and Loki earned a throne at the end of time, ruling over every timeline in the multiverse
My main gripe was just not ever finding out what made Silvi and Morbius variants worthy of pruning. Also thought Silvi got side-lined a bit too much.
Agreed. Plus Silvi's story was largely told in S1, so I don't think there was much to add for her character.
