same here. knew koufax had an abbreviated career but coulda sworn one of those two woulda hit scherzer was a super obvious recent one too
Spoiler who the hell played for the Yankees and The Sox??? (I’m sure it’s an obvious one that I’m just blanking on) edit: is there a reason we’re putting answered games in spoilers? Is the thread title not enough?
Finally got a 9/9 got lucky my Craig counsell brewers/dodgers guess hit Spoiler konerko benintendi big hurt counsell cc yount sutton big unit nolan
Nearly guessed kershaw for the dodgers, but I thought a bigger deal would have been made and I didn’t remember that happening. Big sigh of relief checking BR after that one and seeing 2910
After thinking of an answer, I feel dumb it took me so long to think of the big guy for Mil-NYY. Immaculate! Spoiler
Robin Ventura might be the most well known of our era. Melky Cabrera is one. Bucky Dent is a famous one too. HOF'er Time Raines might be the most popular choice though.
Fuck the Dodgers and their famous pitchers that didnt strike out 3k. First one I've done. Do they have these for other sports?
bored at work and looked through their twitter for interesting ones in the past and yeah I would have been absolutely boned here
Adam Laroche / idk would guess McCutchen / idk but probably Drabek? Schilling / Scott Rolen / Roy Halladay RIP Mark Grace / Kerry Wood / Greg Maddux
Wrong on McCutchen. Forgot Jason Bay even existed. Drabek was right. Didn’t even know he won a Cy Young, but growing up a Braves fan in the 90s I remember him being really good and he’s the only Pirates pitcher I even remember from that era when they were good.
I would have never gotten Drabek and Jason Bay is the only ROY they've ever had. Also I knew Maddux played for them but didn't know he won a Cy there, would have guessed Prior.
Would be nice if they’d let you go back and play previous days. I could spend all day on this and not get bored.
Yeah Drabek would have been a complete guess for me, but other than him, Kris Benson and Charlie Morton, I probably couldn’t name another Pirates pitcher.
Today's is kicking my ass. The right column was as easy as it gets, but this isn't a good group of teams for me to come up with 6 guys who have played for two teams.
Yeah I’ve been stuck on the Seattle row for a while. Gonna wait a bit to see if I think of some, but it’s not looking good.
I already missed a guess on Boston/Seattle Spoiler I thought I remembered Mo Vaughn playing in Seattle at some point, but apparently not
I'm pretty sure I have a Cleveland/Seattle in my head, but I'm not certain, so I'm trying to figure out a more obvious one before I make that guess Edit: Got this one. Down to Cleveland/KC and Boston/Seattle with my last guess
Spoiler No idea why my brain remembers some of these scrubs from long ago - baseball cards and Strat-o-Matic cards from back then help. CLE/KC took me the longest b/c it took me forever to remember Franmil was a Royal this year. Hargrove was called the Human Rain Delay for how long it took him to get in the batters box, wonder how we would fare in baseball 2023. He was horrible to watch, had to adjust every piece of equipment in between every pitch.
Bottom left held me up but the answers everyone else has given are way more obvious Spoiler thank god Greinke hit it because I have no clue who else might be the right answer
Dennis Leonard (1977), Kevin Appier (1996), and Bob Johnson (1970) are the other Royals to have 200+ strikeouts in a season.
Makes me feel better that there weren’t a bunch of super obvious choices that I missed. This was way harder than it appeared.
