Duck Smoker to answer your question from the MLB thread, yes those pitchers work. I tested it in incognito mode.
HOW TO PLAY Select a player for each cell that matches the criteria for that cell's row and column For a player to be considered valid for a team, he must've played at least one game for that team at the MLB level If a cell is for a team and an award, the player you select must have won that award while on that team If a cell is for a team and a season stat, the player you select must have recorded that stat while on that team If you select a player for a cell with a rate stat (AVG, ERA, etc.), that player must've accumulated that stat in a completed season A player cannot be used twice You have 9 guesses to fill out the grid Each guess, whether correct or incorrect, counts as a guess You can guess active or inactive MLB players There is a new grid every day
Spoiler Embarrassing that I didn’t get bottom right. I would have been so fucking good at this game in the 2000-2010 range. Paying almost no attention to baseball in the last decade hurts me.
Spoiler totally blanked out on top left. My first guess for rays .300 was James loney. Looked up after and he hit .299
I did too and then doubled down with Ben Zobrist who hit .297 one year ... I got none of the Rays row.
Didn’t realize you only got 9 guesses for all 9 squares. I think I would like the game more if correct answers didn’t count against you and you had 3 “strikes” to complete. Would be more satisfying imo, but obviously easier
Well, a) When he was traded to the Angels from the Tigers was probably the height of my not following baseball at all time. I remember still following the Tigers when they signed him and he started playing for them so it had to be 2016-2017 range that I checked out. and b) looking him up, it looks like it was 4.5 seasons and 361 games total for them (so an average of 60-90 games per season depending if you want to count the split season).
Spoiler I screwed myself out of one square. I guessed Dansby for the ATL-ARI square initially forgetting the player to play for the team, not just be in the organization. Second, I should have had Inciarte as the NYM-ARI square and Shelby Miller for the ATL-ARI square.
Spoiler I guess I'm the only one who doesn't remember Larry Walker stealing bases like that. I guessed Carlos Gonzales. He was close with 34/26 in 2010
Spoiler Dante Bichette also went 30-30 for the Rockies. I thought of him first but wasn’t sure and then was more confident in Walker. But I checked after and he did it once.
I’m sure they will pop up soon with the popularity of this one exploding. Just like all the wordle spin offs.
