aight so that was a lie. and glad I saved it just in case because I got absolute trash from one. re-rolled it about 7 times before getting the Tier 3 - Cursed take more damage one which is probably the best one I could have gotten with the way I've built my guy
The main ones I've seen are some of the voice acting performances aren't great and that the story was lacking, I've been trying to stay zero media on this so I didn't go any deeper than that. Seems like pretty universal love for the gameplay.
The male voice actor with the default pitch sounds crazy similar to Radcliffe. So far the story is pretty good but obv I'm in the very early stages of the game. People are gonna compare the story to other games like Witcher 3 and that kind of story just can't exist realistically in Harry Potter world. At least they explain what the story is which you can't really say the same for in FromSoft games... Played Elden Ring through almost twice and still only vaguely know what it was about.
I think the point of fromsoft games is to slog your way through it just because then tell everyone else how they’re the greatest games on earth. Story is secondary
Yea I don't put much weight on how good a game is bc of a cool story. Great story can redeem a game with mediocre gameplay like Assassins Creed II. I think HL so far doesn't have a story that's drawn me in like TW3 or RDR2 (yet). But the gameplay and customization are miles ahead
I agree, although the first one's bar was pretty low as far as how redundant and clunky it felt (I realize how long ago it was and it was still pretty cool movement at the time). AC2 was a really really good game, but a lot of that hinged on a really good Ezio story and the world being set in renaissance Italy with all the eye candy
Just played for an hour real quick before my work day started Game plays smooth so far graphics are nice and I didn’t have any performance issues playing on PS5 Fidelity mode. Just got sorted into Ravenclaw
You need to change the video mode to include ray tracing. I'm on XB so not sure on the specifics of the PS system but I read that PS5 people have to enable ray tracing autonomously through the Playstation's settings as well. When you change to ray tracing in the game it makes you reboot the game to apply changes and apparently PS5's will revert the Hogwarts setting back to default if it's not enabled on your PS5 settings. The setting adds in stuff like reflections and light coming in from outside iirc
for me it didn't. Looked like 30. Turned that shit off immediately. Amazing what playing at a higher frame rate does to your brain when going back low.
Yeah I can definitely tell the difference between 30 and 60+ mostly the smoothness. Can’t play below 60 now.
my game benchmarked at all ultra settings on pc but stutters all the time... annoying, gotta figure out the correct settings to get it to stop.
They have a proverbial gold mine on their hands if they want to pivot this to a live service game over time. I would expect they have a ton of cosmetic items they can continue to drip feed into the game for a while and what better way to do it than to drive up viewership and keep their streamers engaged with the game?
1 - Did you claim on Twitch AND the Hogwarts drop site? Didn't know I had to do the second part 2 - How far into the game are you? To get to the point where you can change things takes a minute
I unlocked the hogwarts regalia and legendary gloves and claimed them in the field guide but they don’t show up in my gear menu. Am I missing something?
I'm totally ignoring the main quest so I can just run around the castle doing side quests and solving puzzles
You can win all the student dueling fights just using protego/stupefy and the basic cast attack. No other fights unless he wanders off-campus Actually can't get to the dueling fights without going to dark arts class so idk if he can even fight anyone right now
After the initial hype dies down I think people will look at the game as being a bit overrated, the exploration and gameplay is pretty fun but the voice acting, story and the little things like constantly needing to spam revealio every 5 secs is pretty horrible. Put this game into a non Hogwarts setting and its a 6.5/10.
going to universal tomorrow. looking forward to walking around hogsmeade repeatedly yelling revealio in front of everybody.
Going back to level 13 story quests at level 22 Got my Slytherin guy running around in the outfit it gives for completing the first Secret of Hogwarts quest.
Nobody makes you spam revelio every 5 seconds. that's on you The exploration and gameplay is all you really need. It being set in Hogwarts is just a bonus. Liking the story is an individual thing but from the RPGs I've played it's got a pretty good one. It's one that's easy to get into if you're a fan of wizards and shit from the very start, I'll say that. Tbh it could have a very mediocre plot, but have good combat scenarios in all the "dungeons" and it'll still score very high and have replayable value due just to it being probably the best "wizard combat" in any rpg to this point. There's a lot of universally loved games out there that let you melee your way through the story and most of them the "magic build" get redundant and stale. There's a lot of variety for how to approach fights in this game using just spells.
Once you unlock the talent tree you can purchase more spell "sheets". You hold RT and press a direction on the d-pad to change to a different set of 4. I've only claimed one extra sheet and just have one with 4 fighting spells and one with 4 "puzzle" spells.
Does anyone have a good organization for the spells they carry? I try and keep pull and the 3 other fire's I have as my primary. I wish you could use something other than R2 to pull up your spells though. It's annoying constantly having to R2+ up/down/left/right to find the right spell. But it sure beats having to change spells all the time like I did until I had a bunch of talent points I could use.
