Did Luke order Arrax to flame his brethren that’s like 50X his size? I’m gonna rewatch tonight but I assume both dragons just went rogue.
Lol if I pulled into the Baratheon parking lot and saw that thing parked next to me I would’ve bolted.
That was a really cool shot. Almost reminded me of the original Jurassic Park when you see the T-rex through the lightning and rain.
Like you're sitting at a stop light with your Honda Civic and Vin Diesel pulls up next to you and asks if you want to do a quarter mile.
Being accidental is fitting for what has happened up to now too. Aegon being crowned King was based on a misunderstanding too. Now the war is going to begin over an accidental murder.
Posted this on Saturday, but it also goes along perfectly with viserys earlier this season saying it’s just an illusion they have control over the dragons
I’m sure it’s been mentioned before but can someone recommend a good podcast for the HotD? Spoilers aren’t an issue.
she wasn't telling him, she was talking about it with him under the assumption that Viserys shared the prophecy. everything changed when she realized he had kept it from Daemon. the fact that Daemon doesn't know is probably only going to further cement this as the driving force behind the Dance. it's not just about being usurped to her, the fate of the entire continent she feels now rests on her shoulders and if Aegon III isn't installed on the Iron Throne then they all die. now that I think about it a bit, I think this is a great bit of storytelling and gives it more depth. both her and Alicent have deeper reasons that will never be explained outwardly to anyone else again but those reasons are driving an incredible war.
Sp of I were to pick a book for this to read, would it be Fire & Blood? I keep seeing other titles but I don't want to click my way into a super spoiler.
fire and blood the rogue prince and the queen and the princess are both in fire and blood but fire and blood has more in it
The casting in this show is fucked. Two kids fight as children. X years later one of them is a grown ass man the other is still a child. Wtf
What are you talking about? Aemond was always bigger and meaner. The show has also shown several times that aemond was a much better fighter than either jace or Luke
Aemond’s actor is 21. Looks like he was 19 at the start of the dance per the books aegon’s actor is 27 and he was 24 at start of dance Luke’s actor is 16. He was 14 when he died jace’s actor is 18 and he’s 16 per the books
The Rouge Prince and The Princess and the Queen both cover it but Fire and Blood has the most complete telling of it and is a better book. It’s like a history of all things Targaryen
Aemmond is bigger than all of them in the books. He’s really big for his age and he’s older than her kids.
I liked that aspect and how the king said it was all an illusion that they actually had control over the dragons. The dragons do what they want and just let them ride but when it comes to actual fights they’re going to do their own thing.
I think I still need to spoiler even though this is the 'book' thread so don't open if you haven't read the book: Spoiler: Definite Spoiler Don't Open it made me irrationally sad reading about the death of the dragons one by one, so I'm emotionally dreading the next season. The Battle of the Gods Eye will be badass, but things may get dusty in my house during the Storming of the Dragonpit
I’d say, if I was betting, that we don’t see either of those things until at least season 3. Seems like they want like 4-5 season out of this now
It's easier for people (me) to accept the looks of the kids if you think about highschool football. Luke is a JV benchwarmer who is small for his age and Aemond is that 5th year senior that looks ready to start for a D1 school. At ages 8 and 13 when they fought before the size difference makes sense. You almost have to think about it in reverse though.
Good analogy for Aemond. He’s the 5 star Heisman candidate of the whole bunch and even compared to a bunch of the knights.
Surprised I haven't seen Aemond's reaction to killing his cousin set to the Curb Your Enthusiasm music.
25 more episodes seems right, 30 seems like a lot of fluff. all depends on how much they want to show post-Dance.
When Daemon goes into battle strategy mode and the writers just let him cook. "And we can have every green head mounted on spikes before the fucking moon turns." "I would rather feed my sons to the dragons than have them carry shields and cups for your drunken usurper cunt of a king."
Can we talk about F and blood in here? Just do it in the spoilers? Spoiler just some thoughts so far as I’m not done yet. Are they gonna make the queen fat? Can’t wait to aegon melted in his armor, Greyjoys stay backdooring shit, the capturing of kings landing should be cool with the gold cloaks turning cloak. I liked the line about “if your turn your cloak over it’s still gold”, always some witchy women pregnant with a Bastard that might come into play
Maybe it was discussed earlier when I was trying to avoid the thread, but what are the book readers’ thoughts on the change with Aemond’s intentions there at the end? Good change or bad change or nbd either way? I haven’t read but I’m aware of how it originally went down.
Honestly I kind of like that one, and it’s vague enough in the book(more rumors than fact, unlike Borros’ speech which was basically word for word). But the overarching idea that dragons are not blindly obedient is a great theme for the Dance in general, the idea that the biggest power in the world is not as easily controlled as we’d hope.
I think it works. Gotta remember there’s no omniscient narrator or POV in F&B so we can’t truly know what Aemond’s intentions were. The reaction to it from the Green side was generally “WTF was he thinking?” so it makes sense that he didn’t intend to kill Luke. It also fits well with Vizzy T’s thesis that control of the dragons is an illusion. I’d bet that Aemond tries to own instead of admitting that he lost control of his dragon and just leans into villainy.
