There's another tweet saying the Falcons never actually met with him in Flowery Branch before the draft either, I don't think that's common. It just reeks of sudden desperation triggered by a bunch of earlier teams taking quarterback.

The Atlanta Falcons made a surprising selection taking former Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. with the No. 8 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Among those shocked by the Falcons selection was their current projected starting quarterback, Kirk Cousins.

Atlanta called Cousins when they were on the clock to let him know they were taking the former Huskies’ quarterback, his agent Mike McCartney told The Athletic. When he signed with the team this offseason, the Falcons told Cousins that they would be drafting a quarterback in the later rounds of the 2024 draft. Everything points to Blank YOLO'ing and calling an audible last second. Pissing off the the big time QB free agent and new GM is def a decision.

 

I mean the real answer is we think we can “win now” with Cousins as is.

With Kirk last year we win the division easily, but only because of how bad the division was.
