I would start a build over for these new monk weapon arts just to beat patches to death with my bare hands
Think I’m done reading PC gamer after they did an article on theories about the new DLC and one of them was about how there is probably new content around the Radahn and Mohg fights since Miyazaki said you need to beat both to access the DLC Like did you goobers even play the game?
Was Mohg optional? Think Radahn is definitely mandatory but I'm pretty sure I heard from someone I play with that they didn't even know who Mohg was
you cannot access the DLC without beating Mohg and you cannot access Mohg’s arena without the map changes that happen from defeating Radahn
Alright, what level do I need to be to get past Margit? I have roamed around Limgrave for a whole weekend putting it off
The level of your weapon is probably more important than your level to be honest. Get the minimum requirements for your weapon of choice and then pump vigor and endurance to 20. Then level your weapon to +5 if possible or +2 if it’s a weapon that uses somber stones. That should be good enough. If you are dying too much and not making progress than go back to roaming and leveling.
If the fight is too tough but you feel sufficiently leveled I'm pretty sure there's a summon you can use for Margit right before you go on the bridge
Defeated Margit and I’m struggling to clear the castle. This game pisses me off so much and yet I keep coming back
Previous experience with Sekiro last fall was: enjoyed but got wrecked so much and got stuck on Lady Butterfly at Hirata estate and gave up on the game after 25 tries. Then I saw this week it was on sale for XBox and read that I'm a fuckn idiot and can just... go back to Ashina Outskirts and fuck off from Hirata until you're leveled up. Not sure why I thought this game was any different from any other Fromsoft game where Nope'n til you're ready is the way. I think playing this game on a gaming monitor (PS5 is hooked up to the 65" in the living room, XB is in my office on monitor) is a really important factor. I'm absolutely wrecking most of the bosses that took me ~10 times to beat before. On gaming monitor my parry's success rate is so much mf higher than TV and the Mikiri Counter game is flawless (except for the Purple Samurai who still takes me to school). In ~12 hours the first time around I barely got through most of Hirata. 5 hours so far into this run I've done all of the previous parts, and gotten into and explored a lot of Ashina Castle. Refuse to go back into Senpou Temple until I have lube for the monks that gang rape me. But also may need a walkthrough because Ashina has like 5 paths to choose from and I have no idea what to do. Or how far I am into the game. But it's fuckin great to be nailing counters on the gaming monitor. I may have to bring my PS5 in here eventually and see if the same effect happens for Bloodbourne.
Also said I wasn't gonna farm in this game but since I'm off work the next two days I'm probably going to farm to get a couple of passive skills like Breath of Life: Light and Ascending/Descending Carp. Meanwhile Mrs. Lau: "Oh great you found a Shogun video game to play when you don't have an episode to watch?"
He's up next. Just got my 4th prayer bead from the crawley clawey bro in monkville. We'll see if I have any more gud I need to get
Almost beat the first phase on try #1. Pretty confident in getting by this guy after a few good tries. mikiri'd into a couple of grabs and gotta get the big bow shot dodge timing down. shit hits hard
Got phase 1 down where I can beat him with only using 1 heal. 2nd phase gonna take a little practice figuring out when I can actually get an attack in or heal without getting wrecked. also gotta figure out the lightening sword attack timing.
closest I got in ~15 tries but wiped on 4-5 where I died vs phase 1. I’ll give it another run with some coffee tomorrow. He’s fast
Man the Guardian Ape is fuckin me up. First attempt I got the 2nd phase down to like 1/3 health. Not sure what happened but I've only gotten to the 2nd phase once again after 10 more attempts. Torn between using my emblems against phase 1 for fire/firecrackers and saving them for the spear in phase 2.
I guess his fart and poop moves are stronger than the green gourd because it doesn’t cure the poison they inflict. But moreso the problem is how sporadic he is.
I couldn’t do sekiro. Beautiful and elegant game but it’s so unforgiving compared to other from games. Likely why I’m shying away from lives of pi
Lies of P outside of a handful of boss fights was reasonably easy. You can spam block without much of a penalty. TBH I think it's a decent "intro game" to Sekiro because of the fighting style of each game.
Guardian Ape goes fucking down. 4th try of the day. Just played super conservative in phase 1 w/o fucking with the fire. Yesterday I was trying to get the full Floating Passage combo off anytime I got up on him. Gotta nickel and dime that first phase and avoid all the grabs. Run from the fart and block the poop. 2nd phase isn't that hard since you can parry him to death around 60% health or ab ~4 spear pulls. constantly taking a swig of the terror gourd basically nullified that threat from him too. Think he took around ~18 tries total. not terrible considering how many times I faced some of the ER bosses like Fire Giant and Black Blade
I'm also convinced that you can't play Sekiro unless you're on a gaming monitor or really good gaming TV. 20 frames is a tiny parry window
Save scummed and got the Shura ending last night. Had to pack a lunch to beat old man Isshin. Dude makes me want the flame combat art that was a filthy move that got me many times. Think the fight I finally won against him was probably close to 10min long. Sweet ball rice definitely saved my life after I had run through all gourds, pellets and normal rice. Going back online and continuing on to get the other 3 endings. From what I've gathered that Shura ending cuts off with around 1/4-1/3 of content still left. So good to actually know where I am in the game. Beat a lot of optional bosses yesterday that I had been nope'n after the Guardian Ape: Double Apes (fuck this fight but the firecracker and Ago Sugar smoked the brown one) Underwater headless was interesting but kinda silly Couple of the other purple confetti bros - one by mibu fog village fight area was an absolute nightmare. The one in the Double Apes arena was a complete joke with the purple umbrella that just straight blocks all his stuff while you crawl around. Being able to just watch guys fight one another in the castle siege was cool and def puppet cheesed the dojo boss instead of taking that one on 1v2. Coffee and a bowl fired up for the great owl fight this morning
also finally figured out the deal with the dragon tears. no idea why people on reddit say they basically don't do anything. I see no reason not to reset Unseen Aid to 30% anytime it goes down...
Done with Fountainhead Palace. Fun area but the boss fight was a little gimmicky. still pretty cool considering other gimmick fights I've been in for other games. Think I'm down to one last mini boss across the Ashina Castle bridge to get my last prayer necklace and then it's just end-game bosses. Corrupted Monk having 3 life bars was rough. But tbh the one of the hardest fights in the game was those goddamn silver monkeys with swords in the woods area of Ashina castle. There's like 25 monkeys. Putting off Owl pt 2 for now. Beat the first version on the 3rd try but just didn't feel like doing that twice in one day. Besides him I got: Demon of Hatred & Genichiro pt 2 + Isshin Been an incredibly fun game and most likely see myself doing an NG+ run at some point. On the downside - my RB on my XB pro controller is at about 50% after playing this game. Had to switch to a different controller yesterday after I realized this. Several sneak death blows didn't register when pressing the button which led to a really bad time.
I’ve only ever used a shield is souls games when I PvP. Only ever in game was my first DS run. Light roll/claymore or similar two handed till ER where I use a dual wield build. I dodge and never parry. Parrying feels like a mini game I’m not interested in
Too much Hunter not enough Shinobi. I thought DS was a lot more parry-based but I’ve only played about 8ish hours of DS1 remaster. Mostly remember the parry lesson vs the Black Knight in that first castle.
Thinking I may try DS3 next. Toss up between that and FO4 remaster. I'm just in the Fromsoft zone right now. And I honestly didn't know that all these titles had come over to XBox and I'm kinda ashamed I haven't done them sooner. Just kinda assumed they were PS exclusives because BB was the main one I always heard about and it wasn't on XB
I’d say and try and finish DS before you play 3 but I know that’s a lot to ask. 3 is the more direct sequel to DS and it’s got some really fun fan service attached. I’d imagine that DS feels a bit of a slog after starting with ER though and you will get more of what you’ve come to expect from 3
Pretty much this. I think I played maybe 8-10 hours of DS1? I beat the first castle where you use some yellow grease or something on a big dude atop a tower and then I think the last thing I remember was getting a pretty popular 2H claymore. TBH DS3 felt a little bit clunky too (it's cause there's no fuckin jump button) so I may say fuck it and go back, but I'd probably use a straight up walkthrough.
Go play Dark Souls: Remastered and don’t use a walkthrough IMO. It has the best world out of all the souls game and finding the right paths and discovering new things is really rewarding.
