I've got a live recording of Adams House Cat from http://southernshelter.com/ It's good shit check it out, also got Cooley, Hood, and Isbell solo shows
Jason Isbell Jared? RT @Late_Show: A dandy way to start your weekend--Dave welcomes Billcosby and music from Jared Isbell and the 400 Unit, tonight.
Patterson Hood solo show coming up in Florence AL in a couple of weeks. Jason Isbell going to be in Huntsville the 22nd of Dec. It will be twice this year I have seen DBT and will make the 3rd Isbell show I have caught.
I just saw where Isbell's van and equipment trailer was stolen in Dallas over the weekend. Fuckin bummer...... This is pretty awesome.... http://www.cbs.com/late_night/late_...J2t9Wy568hXLLg2AR2kuphkY&play=true&vs=Default
One of my friends from high school is Jason Isbell's guitarist. (The guy pointing at himself at the beginning of this video from the OP) http://youtu.be/tEMpKJtbokQ
That Lollar dude? I always liked him in a completely hetero way. I haven't seen him with Isbell in a few months, he most have some other stuff going on or something.
Here's what he said about that. We just had our 10 year reunion but he graduated a year behind us. People asked questions about what he was up to. (He was in my class until Senior year.) Based on cryptic facebook updates it seems like something has been up for a while. He updates his pictures a lot. Usually with nice looking women like you'd see in the Suicide Girls thread (if you're into that). And it's usually from places in Europe. Whatever he's up to, it looks like he's doing it right . Very nice guy. He paints too. He designs these labels, but he also does lots of other work. It all looks along the same lines (in a good way). http://www.straighttoale.com/ Spoiler Edit: just looked and it says he's playing with "Azure Ray" right now. Who knows?
Saw Isbell open up for James McMurtry two Saturdays ago. I was impressed, as it was the first time i'd seen him. Especially since he kept his composure with the Bama game going into OT during his set.
I saw that too. Pretty shitty. If you are there, just walk up stairs or on the side seat and yell "NOG". I will buy you a drink.

Isbell leaving was probably best for both parties imo. his songs always had a different feel, cooley gets more time, and Isbell's solo career has been awesome
spot on, he needed another outlet for all his songs anyway. TVA is one of my favorite songs of all time and they had to shelf it until DBT released The Fine Print. kind of interested to see what happened with Shonna, could def see her being pushed out due to her songs lack of appeal.
By all accounts, I think I should love DBT. I like just about every band "surrounding" them, from The Jayhawks and Son Volt to Drivin' n' Cryin', Tishamingo, Deadstring Brothers, and The Dirty Guv'nahs. What of theirs should I be listening to? I've been told over and over I'd like them. Give me a good introduction. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJWnDD5h6uE They're UTenn fans, sadly. :(
You want songs or album rec's? If you want song rec's Clown Baby has put good youtubes throughout this whole thread
The Dirty South is my personal favorite. Decoration Day and Southern Rock Opera would also be up there. Good starting points imo
Start with either The Dirty South or Decoration Day. Those two are easily the best and will get you interested in listening to all the others.
I'd have him hold off on Southern Rock Opera until he's heard the first two just so he has a feel for DBT before getting into their concept album. Thanks for the mention btw. Love me some DBT. Haven't read this thread since the news of Shonna leaving the band...everyone basically pumped?
i know i am. Hopefully that opens up to Barbe maybe writing a few songs? He seems like a cool dude from the documentary and could write a few good songs. And agreed on SRO, but dubh definitely listen to Let There Be Rock, Women Without Whiskey, and Angels and Fuselage. Got pretty drunk drinking Beam last night and played NCAA 12 with DBT on my comp all night was awesome
Actually maybe we need the new guy to tell us how he intends on listening. If he's going to start and track one and let it play then SRO might be the best for him. If he plans on skipping around until he finds something he really likes then Id go with DD or TDS. It should also be mentioned that I love and own the other albums but feel that these three should be the "starting point"
I'm a skipper, for the most part. Listen to a bit, if I like it I keep listening. If not, move on to the next song. I also usually use the "popularity" feature on various music services (iTunes, Grooveshark) and hit the most popular songs, because the most popular songs are usually good indicators of the band's ability.
