ok, so, i've thought about it. having old pcs show up is basically the same thing as getting help from allura, kima, etc except it's old pcs instead of random new npc. they've always found help from strong characters.

oh wow, its how I first got into DnD. Don't know if you were even into the old website Penny Arcard but its those guys with Chris Perkins who was one of the main writers of Curse of Strahd. It started out just as them filming their home games with him and then it became this huge thing where they basically do 4 shows a year at the PAX events. Patrick Rothfuss is a recurring player, Xavier Woods from WWE has become a recurring player. Jeremey Crawford now DM's it because Perkins didn't like the pressure of the live shows.

Up to episode 25, Dusk is not my favorite character. Her voice actors voice is grating, and she’s not nearly as fluid in game as the others.

Kinda reminds me of the (C1/C3 last episode spoiler?)
Slayer’s Take arc, but that was designed because players were going to be gone for conventions.

Episode 54 was fun. Still feels so jarring that this fun, light-hearted side quest is happening…. MEANWHILE

it’s like on Skyrim doing all the fun side quests and ignoring the main story arc.

CR not having a sponsor for multiple straight weeks is unheard of, I'm assuming it was supposed to be DND Beyond and they canceled due to the drama?

yep, its ok. Good DND gameplay. Have been playing Baldurs Gate 3 open access beta, looking forward to full release soonish.

Pathfinder games released in the past 3 years are phenomenal.

so basically they invite a lot of people out to the first official dnd live con event in many, many years. some big (for the community) names were left off. people get there and wotc basically refuse to discuss the ogl issue and microtransactions for the vtt. people aren't happy about it and make a really big deal. so then wotc was just like "ok if you want to complain about everything for the rest of our time today that's fair", so they did. lot of drama, not much learned about the future of dnd or the vtt at all.

one of the few things we learned is it's not one dnd, it's not 5.5, it's not 6e. it's just 5e with new base rulebooks. you can literally just play old phb classes and new phb classes at the same table and its cool. that's not going to be confusing at all.

I don’t understand why wotc is trying to step on their own dick right now. They’re riding an all time high wave of interest and they want to kill it

I’ve never played a game of DND, and I am very interested in DND content because of some of these creators. Seems like an accountant probably thought they could squeeze N extra buck out a few places and ended up stepping on their dick with both feet.

it's an odd situation. niche hobbies generally don't ever blow up like dnd did so those at wotc have never really dealt with shit like this. big money at hasbro notices the explosion and wants to take advantage of it. people get upset and it's an absolutely massive community now so it's much louder than when similar shit has happened in the past. wotc have no idea how to handle it because they've been very out of touch with a rapidly expanding community for a very long time.

they desperately need better pr people and community managers. it should be treated like a video game with massive online popularity, like a wow or insert other mmo here. people at wotc need to be paid solely to interact with the community.

at this point i don't really care about the ogl thing. it's in the past and we should all move on from it. doesn't really matter anymore and i don't think those who actually create the game were part of that to begin with. we are probably being too hard on them. however, their pr problems are real and need to be addressed. i can't imagine they can just go out and say "yeah, the money said that's what we had to do and i didn't want to get fired for disagreeing with it." so hopefully we have some current wotc employees speak out about it in the future when they move on to something else.

the interview with perkins is pretty good. not worth the watch really, but he does acknowledge the dmg is a disaster and officially confirming no 5.5/6 just more 5e.

Yeah making more sense why they are cutting ties with DND beyond if they have plans to make a pseudo-competitor

For a company that likes to make a ton of random content, it always shocked me they didn’t do BTS brief interviews with the cast after each level up where they narrate what feats/spells/upgrades they are making to their PCs. Maybe they want to keep it a surprise for the table but idk feels like it would generate a ton of views
