I loved what they did last night. The NFL Network guys were raving about Coleman, going as far as comparing him to Steve Smith and say he was clearly their #1 WR. They're setting up to establish a great foundation in the next few drafts if they can hit on these picks.
I think because of the trades and the assets we've acquired we've protected ourselves so we can take a risk on a player like Myles Jack
* Von Bell would be excellent. * I always wanted us to take Thomas with this pick, but i never thought we'd take a WR with our first rounder, so I'm not so sure here. * Ragland - he was pretty much a lock to go to GB. his enlarged aorta must've scared them off. Scares me too. But we've had all night to talk about this pick, so if we take him, i'll be okay. Similar deal with Miles Jack. All that said, I want Cody Whitehair.
lucky to be in a position where the 20 best players available would significantly help the team. Close your eyes and pick one, and we've upgraded a position.
I would be open to jumping back in to the second if Jack slips a little more, but taking him with the first pick just seems way too risky.
I'd stay away from the risk/reward scenario. Pick someone with less risk, even if the reward is potentially slightly less.
How do you guys feel about Spence? I've always felt like he is a first round talent, but there are obviously concerns off the field. Does the whole Manziel debacle make you gun shy regarding a player who apparently has personal issues?
I tend to agree. we need a ton of high-floor players, not high-ceiling players. i love him, but i don't want him on the browns. we need rock-solid guys, on and off the field. thats why I want Whitehair.
Via Dane Brugler There is a ton of action right now w/ the #Browns No. 32 pick. They'll have to LOVE a player there not to accept one of these offers.
Everyone spends all night falling in love with a player and justifying fat trade up offers to the first pick in the round by this afternoon. Love it for the Browns. Assuming we move back to like, mid-second round, what else can we reasonably expect to get? A third this year? A second next year? I actually wouldn't mind swapping #32 straight for a first next year and having 3 firsts.
Bill Barnwell @billbarnwell 42m42 minutes ago Everything we know about the Browns says they’ll try and get a 2017 first-round pick for the 32nd selection. I actually wouldn't mind that. We have 6 picks in rounds three and four to play with. We can just exit the second round completely and have 3 picks in the first round and 5 in the top ~50 next year. That would be insane.
Agreed, but with six picks in rounds 3 and 4, we can package enough stuff to get back into round 2 once, or even twice, and still have a third and fourth rounder (early third and early fourth for a mid to late second sounds fair). We have a lot of stuff to play with so wouldn't mind some creativity with the pick.
So they're saying there are 8 teams talking to the Browns about getting 32? I feel another great trade coming on.
Well, good news either way. Either we take him, or it drives up value for the pick. Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter 58s58 seconds ago Dr. James Andrews, who examined Myles Jack in December, told the UCLA LB today that he does not need micro-fracture surgery.
Just take him IMO. With so many picks in hand and far less financial burden for a 2nd rounder, now is the time to take a risk like this.
i'm more worried about cook than hack. analytics people hate hack and that seems to be what's primarily governing our decision making. would be floored if they took him. i suppose our shitbag owner could have another heart to heart with the local homeless population and override the FO, but i don't think hackenberg has the same appeal to homeless men that manziel had
today he told him that? TODAY?? Couldn't have sped that up like 24 hours for the kid?? It's not like we didn't know some major event was talking place yesterday that might be impacted by this information.
I think Cook has the ability to be an average NFL QB. I'm not sure Hack is capable of being an average college QB.
i agree but I don't want an average nfl qb. too bad to win with but too good to replace is pretty much worst case scenario for quarterbacks
Grossi... "Word in bldg is #Browns leaning to using the pick on a pass rusher." Don't think he knows shit but anyway
Sounds like a shot in the dark to me. If it's 50% trade, 50% keep, and 50% somebody that can be labeled as a pass rusher and 50% someone else, he's got a 1 in 4 chance of looking like he has sources, while covering himself with "leaning to" if he's wrong.
I listened to Greg Brinda for about 3 minutes after the draft last night. He has got to be the most miserable cunt I've ever heard.
