Just finished season 3 last night for what is probably my 12th rewatch. Wife had never seen it before and she's loved all three seasons. Prob start season 4 tonight.
IMO season 4 was a very good season. Just like 1-3 it was better after multiple viewings. These following moments would have been vintage AD GOB / Tony Wonder escapades (SAME!) GOB / Tobias eating mustard and Parmesan cheese for dinner Tobias on Catching a Predator (There's a raccoon out on the patio!) The Roofie Circle
-The twins club voting out Michael -Argyle Austero threatening to tap dance on his face -Michael and Gob dating someone famous (it's not Julie Bowen, is it?!) -Lucille's smoking trick There's a ton of great moments
The show peaked in season two, three was a bit of a step back and four was the first season where some jokes just didn't land. That said, I can't wait to see the re-edited season four, that makes it play like a traditional season.
i always think season 3 wasn't as funny, then I go back and watch and it's hilarious. i honestly can't say the same about season 4. i hope season 5 (whenever they do it) is better.
Wish there was a way I could hand out dislikes for all the slack jaws that like this show. Your grandfathers would be sick to their stomach.
I love season 3. Season 2 is the best of the show but I almost want to put 3 above 1. Wee Britain stuff kills me. As does Mock Trial. And the fucking Godzilla scene, omg.
Went into season four with really low expectations obviously, but Portia looking like death itself and George Michael growing up into the ugliest bird imaginable (I thought they had replaced him with Sweet Dee for a minute) is really distracting. First episode was awesome, the next two have been BAD
The problem with season 4 is that it jumps around over a decade timeline, following multiple arcs from multiple characters. It makes it tough to follow. Doesn't help that the characters don't age over the decade span. Not always easy to tell what year it's supposed to be. It took me a couple watches to really follow it. Once it starts to click, it's great, but still nowhere close to the first 3 seasons
Official Season 4 character storyline rankings: 1. Gob 2. George Michael 3. George Sr / Oscar 4. Tobias 5. Michael 6. Lucille 7. Buster 8. Lindsay 9. Maeby
I mean, it's like having a season of Seinfeld in which Jerry, Kramer, George, and Elaine have minimal interaction and the thing holding them together (Monk's coffee shop?) no longer exists. I understand why it was the way it is, but that doesn't mean I have to love it.
There were funny parts of season 4 but it isn't even in the same stratosphere as the other 3 seasons.
Speaking of women who've held up amazingly over time, the actress who plays Katie in Wet Hot American Summer hasn't aged a day. Unrelated, I liked Season 4. Big fan of the twin vote and Gob's storyline. I'm also dating someone famous. Is it Julie Bowen?!
Will they actually be all together for the filming this time? Or will it be horrible stitched together green screen again
They really did a nice job with the recut. The stories are more cohesive. They also added previously cut jokes and got Ron Howard to do some extra narration that ties it together nicely. Big fan.
