just finished it today. loved seeing jon snow become lord commander but i wonder how stannis is going to react after what he offered him. i thought it was weird how fatty had the epilogue and then a cersei pov, but it was nice to read some aftermath of tyrion's destruction. i wonder where jaime will stand between his sister and his uncle, i was pleasantly surprised at how much i started to like his character after this book.
Its interesting how the Lannisters seem less evil now. Its really only Cersei who's the true evil one and Tywin is cold blooded but nowhere near as bad as some of the other characters (Roose Bolton, Ramsey Snow/Bolton, etc). As much as I want to hate the Lannisters its really just Cersei and all the other Lannisters even acknowledged it
I think tywin can be almost as bad as some of those dudes (having rhaegar's kids killed, helping with the red wedding, and so on) but I still think he's a badass whereas the other ones aren't at all.
The wedding is on the Freys. They're the ones that pulled it off. Plus while killing the kids is terrible its not like everyone other than Ned wouldn't have done the same thing. How can you overthrow the king and then leave one of his heirs alive? I guess you could just stip him of all titles or something but as long as there are people loyal to the Targaryans you risk rebellion
Oh yeah they get most of the blame but Tywin was in on it. And I agree that most people in martin's world prob would have done the same but that I think speaks more to martin's view of the dark side of human nature than anything else.
Really sad to hear how Jamie/Tywin screwed over Tyrion with Tysha, and I hated seeing Jamie leave Tyrion thinking he actually killed Joff. Wish He wouldn't have done that. Also sucked to see the Hound never get the recognition I always thought he deserved when Arya left him to die against that tree. Really want him to at least get redemption and thought he was going to get it once Arya decided to fight for him in the inn with Polliver and the Tickler. Oh well.
Kind of thought about that in the back of my mind, viewing the scene as kind of a "job unfinished" type of deal, and it did feel like there were just so many loose end still hanging around. We shall see.
Not gonna read the thread because I'm only 400, but :ohholyfuck: and the part where Dany fucks up the slavers. So much . Can't wait to get through the book, I imagine it only gets better.
You know nothing Audrew, Spoiler but yeah you right SoS aCoK GoT That's how I rank the first three books. I think they are all better than the fourth and I haven't read the fifth yet
Finished the Wedding portion of the book and rage quit for a couple hours, why can't any of the characters I hate get killed off?
just about to go out on the porch and start this one probably going to take me a bit to finish it Candace Wiggins' father died of AIDS? Weird commercial
haven't made a huge dent in it (about to over the next few hours though) but just wanted to post how much I hate Catelyn Stark hopefully I'll get to read about her shedding some blood from somewhere besides her hands in the near future
[catelyn chapter] "waaah waaah waaaah" [/catelyn chapter] also be weary of reading this thread until you're finished because its full of spoilers
not reading this thread for fear of spoilers but i swear i was about to head to Westeros and kill a bitch if Dany sold one of her dragons for a bunch of dudes with no dicks. especially the bad ass black one
I knew when she gave away Drogon that something was up. If you're gonna give away dragon, why would you give away the most bad ass one?
Just finished it today. I was so fucking happy when I thought there wouldn't be anymore Catelyn chapters, only for GRRM to shit on my dreams at the end. Fuck.
Lol I thought the same thing. After the red wedding I thought "Well, at least I don't have to read anymore Catelyn pity party POVs". Damn you Thoros.
Aren't book threads about what happens in that book spoilers included? If so, that happens at the end of this book.
Yeah i thought so too. The red wedding is in this whole thread, and it's probably the biggest spoiler in the book.
They haven't specified yet, but could you say since Thoros revived Beric so many times he's indirectly responsible? I just wanna blame the pink robed ninny instead of the awesome zombie.
finished this afternoon. how infuriating is it that of all the characters that have died, fucking Cat is the one they bring back? "gods be good" at least she can't talk anymore.
just checked out the POVs for book 4. disappointed to not see Bran or the Reeds. I hope Sam links up with them somehow when/if he takes Stannis. it would suck to go a whole book without hearing from them, and I really hope we don't hear from them through a Greyjoy POV.
Yeah have to respect a dude that holds such a vendetta over being born to a lower class and wants to stick it to everyone.
