Rumor is Jefferson's deal will be announced after the draft. I can't imagine what that will be with St. Brown at 30/year

so a 3 year deal at a little over 25/year and then a ridiculous 43 million fourth year that will never be paid

I would imagine his agent fought hard for the 1st year of the deal to be a reworked number for the '24 season based on the cash comp he has from his rookie deal for '24

$77 million guaranteed is probably from '24-'26 with a potential out in '27

Wonder if that contract pushes the SF/Aiyuk situation any further in either direction heading into the draft.

Devonta's 4 yr $90 million "extension" ended up being 4 yr $68 million with either a $20 million option in year 5 or a $4 million dead cap if the option isn't picked up

4 years is too short of a deal for Sewell. Should have been 15, minimum.

They estimated it would cost $4.6 billion and they want 1/2 of it tax payer funded. It’ll never happen.

Some of the numbers being thrown around are misleading with what they are asking for...

Chicago Bears President Kevin Warren presented plans today to build a $3.2 billion domed stadium on the lakefront with roughly $2.3 billion coming from a mix of private financing.

Taxpayers, through bonds issued by the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority, would pay for $900 million in upfront costs toward the stadium. The total cost of the project includes an additional $1.5 billion in public infrastructure costs the team is also hoping will come from taxpayers.

Of the infrastructure improvements, $325 million will be needed immediately to open the new stadium, according to the Bears. An additional $1.2 billion would be included in subsequent phases. The second phase includes $510 million for new parking and multiuse playfields at the demolished Soldier Field. The third phase includes $665 million in future transportation improvements to make the Museum Campus more accessible.

    ....

On the $900 million in IFSA bonds...

"Currently, the ISFA makes annual debt payments to pay down bonds issued to build Guaranteed Rate Field and renovate Soldier Field through revenue from a 2% tax on hotel stays in Chicago. When that revenue falls short, the difference is made up through state tax revenue that otherwise would have been sent to Chicago.

Jaworski said current ISFA debt payments are modeled on an anticipated 5.5% annual growth in revenue from the hotel tax, but the Bears' model is more modest at 4%. The team's plan also includes a $150 million to $160 million liquidity reserve fund that could be set aside and tapped during down years.

"By assuming a lower rate, we're not building that debt service up so high, and then by adding that liquidity reserve for really down years to provide funding, we feel we're much less at risk,” she said."

Considering how much the stadium will be used outside of Bears games is that unreasonable? I don't know? And it is all park district land and a decaying Lake Shore Drive getting infrastructure upgrades.

I guess I think there should be more of an appetite for this than building the White Sox a stadium along with a mega-developer.

Was it the Vikings that used pull tab profits to pay off the stadium like 20 years early?

In this case it won’t be their stadium. The City will own it. Which makes no business sense at all but the McCaskeys are poors so they need government hand outs.

Yeah, all the debt was paid off 23 years early for US Bank Stadium because of how much money they got from electronic pull-tabs.

Minnesotans absolutely love pull-tabs of all shapes and forms.

I’m not familiar with Chicago politics but seems feasible if you can pay the thing off in a fraction of the time

He has the same chance of being traded as Tee which is 0%. Tee at least will be a free agent after this season and can go get his money. Trey was stupid enough to sign a one year extension just last summer, so if he should be mad at anyone it's himself and his agent.

And NFL teams then negotiating into the lease that they get to keep some of the revenues from other events at the stadium such as concerts.

Long overdue. Yea. Helmets look cool but 10 years from now they will be mandatory and we will have the same opinion the current helmets like we now do of the leather helmets.
