Anyone done one of these prix fixe restaurant thanksgiving dinners? Probably going that route this year
I've been. It was good but not great. We had the large format lamb ribs. It was a while ago, so memory a little hazy, but good bro spot. Awesome beer list. Not sure about Thanksgiving there.
So I'll be in NYC Dec 5th and 6th staying at the Midtown Hilton near Rockefeller. Any family friendly restaurants in the area that anyone recommends? We're only gonna be there for about 24 hours, so our schedule is pretty tight. Basically all we plan on doing is seeing the Rockefeller Christmas tree, Central Park, and maybe the WTC. Any other good Christmas light setups in the city?
With really young kids idk I try to avoid that lol The tree is cool, go ice skating too if you can. WTC is neat but unless you're doing the museum or observation deck it's a pretty short trip. I recommend a museum too
Good choice for location, walking distance to everything you want to see (aside from WTC). Not sure about family friendly restaurants, I'm sure others in this thread can confirm but I do know there are a TON on 9th Ave. I'd definitely stop by Momofuku Milk Bar. Our wedding cake was from there and it was fantastic. They make all sorts of delicious desserts, they're famous for "cereal milk ice cream" - it's ridiculous. Also, I'd recommend taking a walk through Grand Central Station. It's one of my favorite places in the city, albeit a bit crazy. The ceiling in the grand concourse area is gorgeous. They also have a holiday fair if you're into that. Plus, kids love trains.
Yeah, my wife and I went about 3 years ago to the memorial. Neither the WTC or museum were finished. The kids part is gonna be tough because they're not old enough to do anything. Think we might go to Duncan's Toy Chest FAO Schwartz and let the 2 yr old raise some hell, but outside of that, it's gonna be tough.
Yeah we did Grand Central last time, but we're also taking my mother-in-law who has never been to NYC, so a lot of the landmarks would be mainly for her.
I went to Bill's Bar and Burger yesterday and it was legit. Family friendly and plenty of solid alcohol options too just like two blocks from you.
Wife wants to do the statute of liberty during our 24 hr trip. Feel like it's going to take/waste so much time
I've never done it, but people have said that simply taking the Staten Island Ferry to SI and back gets you great photo opportunities without having to go do the tour. Might be worth your consideration. Could be done in 90 minutes (if that), there and back.
They are a little "touristy", but Carmine's and Tony Di Napoli's are by the Rock and I would call them family friendly. Both are family style Italian places. For lunch there's a Shake Shack and a Schnippers on ~43 and 8th, both are good and kids would like.
