if you would like a good laugh heres the link to watch it http://www.hailstate.com/mediaPorta...nal&utm_medium=rotator&utm_campaign=lerotator
I think State is going to be disappointed with whomever they hire. Stansbury was a crooked douche, but he won a lot of games and took them to the tournament pretty regularly. Miss State is not an easy place to win at anything. I think they just fired their David Cutcliffe.
take off the OMSpirit glasses if you believe this for baseball and basketball ETA: this isn't the old administration we have in place Stricklin will make a HR hire just watch
You've clearly drunk the Kool-Aid. Stansbury took y'all as far as you're going to go in the near future. It sucks, but we're both bottom rung of the SEC.
Shitty facilities poorly attended by a shitty fanbase located exclusively within a tiny radius of a shitty town. What's not to love?
That's my point. You just fired a guy who made a program that ought to be a perennial bottom dweller into a respectable mainstay.
I've already admitted that Ole Miss is bottom rung. And, if you think that your facilities are on par with Kentucky, Florida, Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia, Vanderbilt, South Carolina or Arkansas, you've gone mad.
I'm not just talking about the Hump. It's an overall package from workout facilities to training table to film rooms to the actual classrooms. All of that comes into play. State cannot compete in that department.
our basketball program was fucking respectable before Stans got there for christ sakes we were in the Final 4 the year before he was hired
Our arena and practice facilities are so much better than the fucking PMAC, Coleman, and Stegeman Coliseum
No, they aren't. And, read my above post about overall facilities. For the first time ever. He took y'all to the tournament more times than any coach before him and advanced the same number of times.
And y'all are going to start going to the Sweet Sixteen or better regularly now? Get the fuck out of there with that nonsense. Less than 5% of NCAA basketball teams make the sweet 16 or better each year. You can't possibly have those kinds of expectations as a State fan. That's why my comparison of him to Cutcliffe is so spot on.
Mississippi State might be the 11th best job in the SEC. Better than what? Ole Miss, Auburn and South Carolina? And the funny thing is, as it stands today with Stansbury's "retirement," the only program trending upward in Mississippi is Ole Miss. Funny how that happens.
did you miss the part where lsu just completed a brand new practice facility attached to the PMAC http://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=5200&ATCLID=205003025? PMAC is pretty average compared to Tennessee and Kentucky, but it's still better than the hump
Your facilities are at best even with Alabama. Alabama gets a slight advantage on the practice facilities because Bama's are brand new and are for mens bball only. They don't share the practice facilities with anyone. And I would put Coleman over the Hump as a coliseum. The hump has better sight lines from some seats, but everything else in Coleman is better. Also Alabama gets a huge, huge advantage when it comes to athletic dorms, academic center and food facilities.
Hogs have the best basketball arena in the West. 2nd or 3rd best in the conference. Now if we can just get back to the good old days of winning games
Yeah I wouldn't argue against that. Bud Walton needs some more updates. Its been around since 93-94. Ah what a glorious season that was
I never missed watching a game when that team was playing. I remember when we opened Bud Walton up that year. We beat the shit out of Missouri some like 120 to 60 something. It was one of the worst beat downs I have ever watched on a basketball court. every second of it though.
They're all pretty nice, even the ones that are older and have undergone renovations to keep them up to date (See: Georgia). Places that had terrible arenas (Auburn and Ole Miss) have either built brand new, state of the art buildings or are in the process of doing so.
120-68 http://collegebasketball.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=697135 There use to be highlight video of the game on YouTube but I can't find it now. Oh Virgil the Hawkeye avatar
I have the entire series plus the movie on my movie shelf now. I could literally sit for days watching that show.
at anybody thinking MSU isn't in the bottom 3-4 jobs in the conference. The only ones you could even make an argument (for some a crappy argument) for it being better than is Ole Miss, AU, or SC. As far as arenas go, IMO I would rank them in these tiers since a lot of them are close and it could go any direction based on personal preference: Top Tier: UK, UT, SC, ARK Mid Tier: AL, LSU, FLA, VU Bottom Tier: Miss, UGA, MSU, AU AU and UGA are borderline mid-tier. I put Auburn bottom tier because it is a highschool arena thats brand new and looks ok now. In 10 years it'll just be a highschool arena. Most would put UGA in the bottom tier but personally I don't think it is that bad.
a "true college basketball venue" is how teams with shitty venues describe their place IMO "yeah it looks like shit and everything is 70 years old but it's got character!"
