Assembly Hall and Memorial Gym are old and have character neither are anything close to shitty venues
imo memorial gym is very shitty, but that is just my opinion. most seem to like it. i guess some people like the old and outdated thing, just doesn't do it for me. but to each his own, like I said a lot of this stuff is based on personal preference
yes because vanderbilt is clearly one of the most electrifying atmospheres in college sports they yell in the tad pad too doesn't make it worth a shit
it's a shitty basketball conference and that is reflected in the shitty atmospheres you see most places Rupp TBA Memorial
too bad they're going to destroy it once they raise the money for a new arena. still doesn't change the fact your post was extremely biased. memorial? give me a break. most people hate memorial that aren't vandy fans. one of the most ridiculous designs in college basketball. and no, originality doesn't mean better
.... that's just not true (sure it is for football, but that is not true for basketball) and it is awesome for concerts
To be fair Rupp is not that great aside from the size and history but to lump it in with memorial is asinine, simply due to the size and history. It would be better if there were bigger/better games in conference fwiw.
I believe he was listing the 3 arenas he had been to in the SEC and was not necessarily grouping it w/ Rupp
Eh. In the sense that his name's been leaked by UAB folks, sure. He still has two years left on his deal at Ole Miss, but he can use this to get another year or two to have security when the new arena opens. It'd be an unbelievable disaster if Ole Miss somehow let him walk.
I can't see him leaving right now. I think Ole Miss has a chance to be pretty good next year. Might be the best team he's had there.
Come to think of it the conference as a whole may be stronger top to bottom than it has been in years. VU, UF, MSU, and UK lose a ton (but UK of course won't skip a beat and UF still had many other contributors coming back), but Ole Miss, UT, Arky, Bama, LSU, UT all will have legit shots at getting in the dance next year, plus UF and UK will be right there as always. The (former) West in particular will be more competitive than it has been in years. That's 8 teams that will be pretty good next year- and Vandy and MSU have some young talent and may make some noise too. About fucking time we returned to being a pretty strong conference. Just looked and mizzou loses 7 out of the 10 players on their roster
That's the sense most get. Not that I'm aware of. I think they want it to open in two years but ground hasn't been broken yet so I'm not sure.
bradlocke @bradlocke From http://CBSSports.com, MSU supposedly has Murray State head coach Steve Prohm as its "primary target" http://cbsprt.co/GDJzlX Lets hope it works out better than the last Murray State coach to go to a BCS program...
Also one of Prohm's assistants is from Winona,MS and played at Belhaven in Jackson ETA: bmarcello WPSD-TV: Murray State AD says search firm contacted Steve Prohm on behalf of Mississippi State last week. AD not happy.http://t.co/DG0PomeD
Brandon Marcello @bmarcello Reply Retweet Favorite · Open Reached out to Murray State coach Steve Prohm this morning. He had no comment on reports of Mississippi State's interest in him.
you can't pay me enough money in the world to go to a game involving a Billy Kennedy coached team (or to leave my house)
Would State fans be happy about this? Taking a chance on a guy with 1 year of head coaching experience seems like a huge gamble.
would def make their getting rid of stansbury look even more ridiculous, especially if he doesn't outperform stansbury
Prohm would a perfect hire for State.... young, energetic, and he AND his players give a fuck. Homerun hire for Stricklin. This man went 31-2 without a player over 6-9... he can coach.
His predecessor Billy Kennedy also won 31 games and got to the 2nd round of the NCAAT without a player over 6-9. Then Kennedy left Prohm with a team that had 3 Senior starters and 2 Junior starters. All of them had played key roles on the 09-10 and 10-11 teams and all of them had averaged more than 10 minutes per game in each season that they had been at Murray State. Also this year, the Racer's top 6 players were either juniors or seniors. And 8 of the top 9 players were juniors or seniors. All of them were Kennedy's players.
but he did turn Isaiah Canaan into a 1st Team All-American ETA: Gregg don't make second guess him dude I'm happy as fuck right now
Multiple sources confirm that UAB has offered its head coaching position to Ole Miss' Andy Kennedy.......
I think he goes. UAB is a really good basketball job, and he's a hero there. I'm not 100% certain, but I think his jersey is even retired there.
