No way Tennessee gets in IMO. They had to win a game in the SECT. Their RPI is really low, and they were only a bubble team because of quality wins and a good SEC record. It would be pretty ridiculous for a team with an 18-14 record and an 85 RPI before the Ole Miss game to make the tournament as an at large. I think it actually hurt Tennessee to get a bye if they could make the tournament without winning the SECT. I think Tennessee really needed at minimum 2 wins in the SECT to get a bid. None of those teams should make it, but the only team that has any sort of case right now should be Ole Miss. I think all 3 inevitably get left out. If State makes it, it will be an absolute joke.
I just don't trust any of it, especially after seeing Mississippi State consistently considered "in" even though their RPI, SOS, conference record are all worse than, say, Ole Miss. Not to mention four 100+ losses (Ole Miss has one). So do four top-50 wins absolve the weakness of that resume?
yeah I lost all trust when LSU was the SEC Champion in 2008-09 with a 26-7 record, 13-3 in conference, and were given an 8 seed in #1 UNC's bracket, the eventual national champion. LSU actually gave UNC their best game of the NCAAT, but that team was unreal. It was such a shitty feeling on selection day seeing that BS. Sure, the SEC was weak that year, but that was just a slap in the face.
yes, Marcus Thorton was so much fun to watch. Not to mention 35 year old, 12th senior, Tasmin Mitchell having one of the best mid range post games I've seen at LSU. I think it kind of masked some of Trent Johnson's deficiencies as a coach, though. Much like Brady, that team won as many games as they did on talent, not great coaching. I can only imagine how filthy that LSU team would have been had Anthony Randolph not gone pro the year before. Having he, Thornton, Tasmin, and Garret Temple on the court together, scary.
Donovan frustrated with officiating By Pat Dooley Staff writer Page 2 of 2 Young seemed especially frustrated by no-calls during the game. “Really frustrating,” he said. “There was a lot of contact, a really physical game out there. I think the whistle should have been blown a little bit more, but I guess it just wasn't tonight.” Donovan said he would address the discrepancy with the SEC office. “And I'll have a lot to say, too,” Donovan said.
i can understand that. florida had 2 free throw attempt the entire game. but when you have an arena with 98% kentucky fans that get all over the refs every single play, eventually they're going to give in. same can be said for duke, carolina, and others too. it sucks, but good teams always get calls. it's just obnoxious that when kentucky gets in the lane it's either a make or a foul, and when the other team goes in the lane, it seems to need to be over the top for a foul to be called. kentucky is a whole lot better than anyone in the SEC and deserves to be the #1 team in the country, but they do seem to get a lot more calls go their way on fouls. kentucky only had 8 fouls the entire game. i don't care how well you play, 8 fouls for an entire game?
UK is basically always attacking the rim on offense which leads to being fouled more often. On defense, the shot blocking trio of Jones, Davis, and Gilchrist pretty much discourage teams from attacking the paint. Some teams do, but most stay out of the painted area and jack up jumpers (like Florida, who took 20+ threes). And like lsufball19 said, home crowds usually dictate the officiating. UK is always going to dominate in that respect on neutral floors.
Games vs UF were very similar with and without your thug nigs that couldn't follow the rules. Results were the same.
I think Kentucky attacks the rim a lot more so that leads to more fouls, but only 2 shots all game is pretty ridiculous.
Not really that similar. In the first game Florida destroyed Bama in the paint and that is the reason they easily won. They didn't have to rely on the 3 because Patrick Young was feasting on Bama in the paint. In the second game Florida only got 20 points inside the 3 pt line and couldn't get much going in the paint. They won cause they hit 10 3s.
i don't think we get in but if we don't - how do you make a case for State to get in? If they do its like someone pissed in my cheerios tomorrow... vandy rained down tre balls on us and it hurts
my man... we have won 20 games like 5 seasons out of the last 6 or some shit... i am not sure but haven't danced a single time... sucks breh
It does suck. It used to be like 20 wins and going .500 in conference you were golden. Not so much anymore.
that's what happens when only a few teams in the conference get any respect from the committee. the west, or what used to be the west, hasn't gotten a team in since 2009. pretty sad
David Price @DAVIDprice14 Let's go VU!!!! I really think we got Kentucky today!!! Gonna be a lot of chirpin today's ladies and gentlemen
Agreed. Everyone should watch Prayer for A Perfect Season on HBO, it's about MKG's HS team. He's a good dude, crazy stuff that happened on his signing day
basket interference right there imo. and pretty sure the ref threatened to throw out stallings and he goes "no you wont, no you wont"
that rebound/dunk he got after Davis missed both free throws was huge and we followed that by turning it over and giving Jones another dunk after falling for his pump fake 54-49 with 10+ to play, UK leads
KEDREN TO THE RIM....AND ONE!!! James Franklin going fucking nuts in the VU section 65-62 VU lead with 1+ to play
