They could have paid each of those 12,000 employees $80k in that quarter and still made $1.5B in profits.
Sorry, you're looking at it wrong. Were going to cut 10,000,000 in salary so we can raise C level bonuses
One of the most pathetic things this country has done recently (non firearm division) is allow corporations to layoff people as a first resort and have it be a totally normal thing they do. Just accepted it as a totally reasonable thing without consequence. Companies should just have to eat profit declines. It happens. But punishing people is absurd and it’s pathetic it’s just been accepted.
Trumpers are going to start calling themselves sick fucks starting today as a badge of honor. Guarantee it.
I don’t even care about that although yes leadership should be accountable. just at a basic level if a company’s profits drop, but they are still profitable, then that should be the end of the story. Maybe the stock price goes down for a couple weeks. So what. It’s all short term shit. Then just go about your day. there’s nothing that makes sense that a short term profit decrease should result in drastic life altering actions. Even if the c suite kept their salary and bonus. If you’re still turning a profit then move on. It’s also this pathetic need for these people to make “big important decisions” even if there’s no real reason to make them.
This sort of corporate behavior is what used to lead to such violent uprisings that the Pinkertons had to get involved. Alas
Even outside of dumping the heftiest salaries making the most sense if you're cutting costs, aren't these the people in charge anyway? Did they not captain the ship to smaller returns? Why are they not the ones responsible? These are rhetorical questions as I know why but still...
It's many times due to executive bonus structure in which they need to reduce costs by _____ in order to meet a personal benchmark to get 10 more million, or some bullshit like that.
Couldn't figure out what you were trying to say...realized it was a typo and you meant "fun" not "run".
This is so depressing to read. America is not a zero sum game unless the top ~10% want to make it one. There's plenty for everyone to make a good living, have good homes/healthcare/schools, etc., with even enough left over for safety nets to catch those that might fall between the cracks. There's more than enough to welcome the millions of migrants from destabilized countries to our south and to integrate them into our country -- making it even better.
Mostly. Sounds like some others from their Brokerage divisions which have been struggling the past 2 years.
My company has been doing layoffs right before earnings announcements for the past 2 years. You can imagine how great morale is within the org!
I believe those 12k jobs are white collar jobs, amazing how when the little guy gets a piece of the pie how these companies try to streamline the corporate side…..
Did Trump do anything good? Off the top of my head I draw a blank. But it would be helpful to have something to use in discussion with conservatives. When people are completely in the Fox News hole and think everything Biden has ever done is bad it would be good if I could say “come on, you know I’m not a trumper but even I can admit he did a good job with zzz, because it was objectively good, do me a favor and look at these Biden economic numbers and tell me they are bad (without citing a conservative superpac economist)”
Videos I see where brave souls are confronting Trumpers outside of klan meetings always get them when they ask what did Trump accomplish. The reply I see the most is he made America great again, which doesn’t hold up to a simple question of how? Then you get the basic we can say Merry Christmas again or he is battling the swamp. No one answers honestly, which is he made me feel great about being a white racist again after a black President. That’s it.
He let that one lady out of jail after Kim Kardashian told him to. He said he was going to end our war in Afghanistan. That’s the list.
The CARES Act. Although I've seen many conservatives cite this as the reason they won't vote for him again
He didn't listen to a lot of GOP foreign policy hawks that wanted to invade Iran in 2019/2020. I'm good giving him that
he did the first two rounds I believe. having his name on them was the only thing he was worried about
But weren’t those checks bad in a lot of ways? Aka led to actual inflation for like a year? Not talking vibeflation Biden edition, before that
They probably contributed to inflation in some small measure but they also kept the US from having GFC 2.0 and a rerun of the chronic high unemployment of the early 2010s. Those checks (and the Biden ones) as well as all the other spending was absolutely worth it imo.
that was hilarious when Biden said we’re going to start fining you for every day your shit sits unloaded and all of a sudden everything started moving
someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the currently inflation was due more to the QE by Trump when he was determined to keep interest rates down.
