I like the main elements of it, but I wish they had gone about the journey getting there differently. Mainly, the lack of urgency of getting back to the ship just felt really dumb to me, and made the convenience of them arriving when they did with everything just kind of feel dumb. I wish they had gone about that differently. I am very curious if that's how it was always going to end, or if there's 5-10 minutes of Baylan on the cutting room floor because of Stevenson's death.
Recency bias, but Ahsoka is easily my 1b Star Wars live action series with 1a being Andor. They're completely different so there's no comparison. Andor is 1a for storytelling, Ahsoka 1b for Star Wars mysticism/grandiosity.
The master and apprentice Ashoka short is nice, adorable to see how proud George is of Dave. and Rosario is a queen
Seems like the ecto cooler sword would have some kind of magic attached to it, so I would guess that is a little more powerful. The darksaber is basically just another light saber.
Umm, can we hear it for our girl Morai showing up!? That was awesome. So that was definitely the father statue pointing for Baylon at the end there. I wonder what it’s pointing at though? Also, I was hoping for a FPJ force ghost at the end but maybe they’re saving that for Hera and Jacen.
so about father / son / (headless) daughter and that ending cliff scene… maaayyyybbbeee I was wrong. Or maybe it’s just an Easter egg, but they def cracked the door open very sad about Ray Stevenson not getting to play that next chapter out. They clearly had something big in store for him.
I liked it. Got weird. Some good call backs to other stuff. Feels a bit incomplete though. There’s so much story left
I'm confused by why they just seemed to stop trying with any story for Shin. Not that she needed some big arc or anything, but this episode was like they forgot she existed until they reshot some 15 second scene to throw her in there somewhere.
Also, so we are saying with enough practice anyone can weld the force? Or does that planet have some ability that unlocked it for Sabine?
Pretty crazy that Filoni lifted the whole Sabine arc in this series from Silent Bob in Mallrats, IMO.
I’m also not a huge fan of Sabine just getting force wielder upgrade out of nowhere. Other than that, a little bit of a letdown compared to the rest of the season, found out basically nothing interesting.
Great action, elite saber fights, light on exposition. Interested in how this Thrawn era develops back home.
Minor complaints after sleeping on it: They kind of just left out why Shin didn't make it back to the ship. Or I just missed it. They completely yada yada yada'd over how Ezra managed to escape Thrawn's ship and find Hera's fleet in wherever they are in the main galaxy. Not a complaint, but it seems like Baylan is supposed to be a big part of the series moving forward which makes Ray Stevenson passing even more tragic.
Ahsoka and Sabine (and maybe a recast Baylan) find what Baylan was looking for, a second Mortis and another gateway to the World between Worlds and that's how they get home.
The Stevenson death really sucks. His performance and the promise of Filoni crafting that type of character was the sole thing keeping me interested in the show.
Sabine is force sensitive but not a lot. The robot said it. The planet may make her have stronger abilities though.
But also, yes. It was explicitly said by Ahsoka that with proper training pretty much anyone can channel the Force.
It just seems like Sabine went from 0 to 60... I get picking up the lightsaber in a life and death situation. But being able to force push Ezra at will onto Thrawn ship seems a bit of a big jump. But on the other hand you could say after she moved the lightsaber she has confidence. And pushing Ezra was another life and death situation.
