Anyone know when they would announce kickoff time for the USC game? I'm actually going, which should be a terrific experience.
On a game week related note, I saw Va Tech lost to Ga Tech yesterday. Anyone know anything about the Hokies? Usually their defense is good but I haven't followed them one bit. Clearly we are the underdogs so long as we have a propensity to shoot ourselves in the foot, but how do we match up?
I thought I saw yesterday that Va Tech is undefeated in games they win the turnover battle and lost every game they haven't Sounds like a typically 8-4 type team
i'd be surprised if it wasn't 12:30/3:30 est game. usc should be 8-3 at that point, but it should still be a pretty low-level matchup. oh, and God speed. i gave my tickets away to a friend - didn't even try and make them pay for them.
Watched the 1st half of SC vs Washington. Their frosh QB is going to be a problem. He's really good. Love his composure and is sneaky athletic. Actually reminds me of a Kizer type player (more Kizer last year). I will say the Army beatdown does nothing to salvage this year but I am pretty pleased with our young DB's. Haven't felt good about the secondary in a long time and at this point I feel like ND is at least in decent position to be strong on the backend for the near future. Studstill, Love, Pride and Vaughn have all had good moments this year. With Watkins and Crawford (Feel one of these 2 or Love should move to S next year) coming back from injury you have some legit talent competing. Also I like Elliot out of HS so hopefully he can help step up next year as well.
Darnold is really good. Had the same thought as you in that he reminds me of Kizer with the way he plays SC is gonna destroy us
Our D is pretty solid as always. Offense is currently a shit sandwhich and it seems if we make early mistakes we kinda quit. No idea what to expect this weekend. Hope to enjoy my trip up though.
You'll have fun. PM me if you want a place for a beer and a bite tailgating. This thread is also super helpful for Chicago and South Bend stuff if needed. Feel free to ask.
Finally just looked at the forecast, first snow of the year? Yaass. My parents just got me a dope new ND coat for my B-day, and a trip to FL to thaw my bones. Lol.
Amazingly Brey has another good team. I still think they are borderline NCAA, but until watching them I thought they would be straight trash aside from VJ and Vasturia.
I still worry about it lack off creativity off the dribble, bit the team is sharing it really well right now and much better in d than we were this time last year, so that's good. ACC looks scary again, but I'm more excited than I was when I forced myself to buy season tickets at the last minute.
He's never going to be great but dude holds his own ok against bad comp. didn't realize he got hurt his senior year and basically got fat. Just now getting him back in shape.
Random thought.... This season could play a massive role in whether or not we join a conference. I think last year opened quite a few eyes to the fact that ND is at a disadvantage with the Playoff Committee not being able to play for a conference championship. If a two loss P5 conference champ makes the playoff this year over a 1 loss P5 non-champ, I think you see us join the ACC in football with a quickness. Just something to think about.
I would like to see psu backdoor it's way into the cfp this year after winning the conference. Still think ND stays independent. I do like the 12 legit games over 13 with an FCS arguement.
Unpopular opinion alert: We should join the Big 10 and we should have done it a couple years ago (with Nebraska). Hire the right coach, put us in that Nebraska/Iowa/Wisconsin division and we're in a pretty good spot IMO. Non-conference every year is USC, Stanford/Navy/BC/Pitt rotation, and whatever shitty team wants the least amount of money to get the shit kicked out of them in September. I assume another round of expansion in the Big 10 would result in a 9 game conference schedule.
I'm not debating whether or not we should join the B1G. You make good points. But as an aside, Nebraska joining that conference was the dumbest thing they could have ever done. They have absolutely no recruiting base now, and they're stuck being Ohio State and Michigan's little brother. Again, nothing to do with ND. Just a random point.
I think he was serious about coming back next season. For some reason I believe he and Nelson are both coming back while Kizer goes pro.
That actually would work well for ND. Protect Wimbush and (hopefully) lean on our ground game. Kizer should go pro because he is a legit top 3 pick. Have to think he will.
Kizer is a top 3 pick? Really? He dropped on many mock after the last few weeks. He might go but there is no way he is picked in the top 3. Unless you meant top 3 rounds
Ok. He probably is now outside the top 3, but every mock I have seen has him going in the top 15 picks. Have you seen otherwise?
Yes, once but it was a pretty bad mock draft. He should probably go but it is an interesting decision since Nd brings everybody back with a lot of weapons on offense next year.
Kizer is going to test pretty damn well at the combine IMO I don't think he's ready yet but he's going to go 1st round
Honestly feel like Kizer will kind of get eaten alive in the NFL if he goes. It's incredible the amount of protection and time in the pocket he gets in our offense. It'll be a major adjustment in the NFL considering more than half of the offensive lines are dumpster fires. With that said, I think that he has all the makings of a great NFL QB if/when he can adjust to having less time to throw. Ideal size, good intangibles and obviously has a great combination of strength/accuracy in the passing game.
