I’m happy just trap barring from now on, call me a pussy idc I just wanna be kinda fit kinda strong Tonight was finally a lifting night after struggling to figure out new sinus bullshit
Ugh. Had a huge pop in my neck while I was OH pressing. Basically in-between my trap and my spine. Thought my trap ripped off my spine/back/where ever it connects. Now I've got a Hella stiff neck. Hopefully some biofreeze loosens it up today
Is it that stiff neck where it hurts like hell to turn your head? I’ve found a couple good ways to relieve that if so
From a manual stretch perspective: Sit in a hard chair and with opposite arm hold bottom of chair to stabilize body With same side arm put hand on top of head and pull head (looking straight forward) like you are trying to touch your shoulder. Hold 10 second. Repeat 3x Do this again with head at 45° and 90° angles toward hurt side pulling head towards shoulder Do that a couple times a day but also do it both ways towards and away from pulled side If you’ve got a gun this is typically the best and how my massage therapist has shown me. Take your arm and reach it behind you across the small of your back. This opens up the space between spine and scapula better. Run the gun along the curvature of the scapula and you’ll find the place where it’s pulled pretty quickly.
Any idea when he competes, bench is the only lift I’m a bit skeptical of in the 500/300/400 quest also says he will do it at 275, just a madman
i need to just purchase a trap bar. deadlifting got a lot better when i went to straps and told myself to get a trap bar and complete the circle.
Have Titan trap bar and very moderately priced and solid bar. Not the longest sleeve and would run out of room quickly if you have bumpers.
the Titan hex or the open? I really want an open one because i can do Farmer's walks with more weight than i currently have. the reviews for the REP open trap bar look nice. https://kensuifitness.com/products/tokyo-open-trap-bar the kensui open trap bar seems cool too and they have a cat on staff apparently.
I don’t do farmer’s with it but pretty certain I’ve seen Tom Haviland do them on a closed trap bar with like 900 pounds
Recently, been doing something like this and like it 3 kinda heavy singles around 500 with top handles. Progressing 10 pounds each 4 week cycle Take a plate off and put a band on and do a few sets of 3-4 Take a plate off, flip it over and do deficit banded RDL If I have energy, then do some fat grip work around 225-250 nice, simple workout with full range of work and bar is nearly unloaded by time I’m done
I have the REP open trap bar and I love it. Do almost all of my DL from the floor work with the trap bar. Only DL with a barbell every couple of months to keep it up. And switch RDLs from regular BB to trap bar ever 6 weeks or so. As far as the handles go, their high handles are quite low so I normally use the higher handles but switch it up every so often.
which handle set up did you buy with your REP? They have 3 or 4 options, if I read the website correctly.
I got it when it first came out, so I have the wide handle set at first. However, if I recall correctly, they had several complaints because the original handles were about 27” wide, which is a little much for some folks so they offered a free handle set in one of the two narrower ranges, 25” and 23” respectively as well as a rotating one. Since I received my 25” ones I pretty much use those exclusively. That said they’re very easy to change so it only takes like two minutes to do so.
I haven’t had a single back problem since giving up traditional dead lifts. I still train the movement, but either go trap bar or flywheel.
hmm the giant seems nice. i had looked at Bells of Steel but i didn’t like their handles. these grips on the GIANT are what i prefer.
If you’re not competing in weightlifting, powerlifting, or strongman I’ll always advise people to go trap bar
if you conjugate everything your work capacity increases so much that you could probably run marathons, if I understood Matt Wenning correctly.
Olivia Reeves hits a 218kg/480lb squat at 71kg/156lbs bodyweight. Unreal strength. She’s going to be a killer at the Olympics.
Developed some massive deep bruise/pain in my right outer upper femur/hip. IDK what the fuck happened, but feel like I got hit with a hammer. I can find the "spot" and it nearly makes me scream when I press it.
Bike Sunday Squats and bench/OHP with back accessories Monday Bike Tuesday Bench and deads with leg accessories today I’m not built for this anymore and body is fucked but did it so can enjoy this sports weekend and not worry about shit. Good times, that also was not the plan at all and dumb.
Was on the phone when I pulled 625 yesterday. Tweaked by back. Sometimes I'm just an idiot. It was a clean pull but I just wasn't 100% focused. So now I'll have this strain for a few weeks because I'm dumb AF lol
No, it was the side of my quad. Idk, I played it like a bitch and didn't lift for a week then went light on Saturday in an effort to heal
10s on squats made me feel like way less of an asshole after the last 2 weekends. Do this every year during first 2 weeks of ncaa tourney so whatever
Was finishing up my last set of squats last night, set of 3 at 90%. Quad tried to cramp on me on first rep, never had that happen before but not a fun feeling with 90% on your back.
