Landed on Caribbean for 6 nights. They had a great promo with the Disney visa and we were prioritizing Skyliner at the kids request. They loved it last time. going to plan out further for the next trip and try a DVC rental at Poly.
yeah that isn’t ideal. We wanted to book Beach Club for next year but the pool will be closed Jan - May
Anyone know how far out they typically release menus and things for special events? We are going to do the sip and savor pass for the dca food and wine festival on March 1st and I’d like to see the options
Honestly not sure. But a few minutes on google should help you find when the 23 menu’s were announced because there will be a thousand blog posts talking about it.
It’s crowded currently. But we’re putting the park hopper and Genie plus to work. Heading to our third park of the day. Have done Guardians, Tron, and Space Mountain so far and heading to do Everest now. The 6 year old has discovered she’s an adrenaline junkie.
God, it’s some cheerleader competition weekend and I want to slit my wrists while I wait in line for this bus while they practice their fucking cheers.
February is a great time to go to Disney weather wise. But yeah. It’s Brazilian teen and cheerleading season. It’s a circle of hell
Usually a week or two before the event starts. DCA has some really good food stands right now for the Lunar New Year celebration.
How old are your kids? Are you done having kids? How hard is it for you to get to Disney? most importantly. Can you drop a credit card for a 35k purchase and pay it off at the end of the month?
8, 6, 2. Done having them. Just under a 7 hour drive to WDW from house. couldn’t drop that much now, but probably could in a year or two.
My honest opinion would be no then. Your peak use years are going to be when your kids are under 12. A year or two from now you are looking at your oldest aging out soon. where DVC gets you is that you have to finance with them and their rates are extreme. i guess you could always finance and then pay it off in 2 years.
Arrived at Animal Kingdom Lodge Kidani village today. Got the one bedroom. This is now my favorite resort. We will see if the buses change that feeling this week.
We stayed there in the fall, and it was incredible. I didn't mind the busses at all, though we only went to Springs.
That animatronic is incredible. But nope. I want my brer rabbit, fox, and bear that barely work. Then again, I'll allow it if the FSU easter egg is finally gone. Spoiler
Are split stays worth the trouble? Didn’t know if it would be worth loading up halfway through and transfer resorts.
Did a Disney Cruise last year for Spring Break (kids were 3 and 6) looking at doing another one next year (5 and 8) should be great.
Just finally got around to finishing a Shutterfly photobook with our photopass and cellphone photos and yeah want to immediately get on another.
Took the boys down to the Pro Bowl last weekend and hit up Universal for the first time while we were in town. VelociCoaster was down the entire day, and some idiot holding his phone up pretending not to understand English (after I heard his family speaking in it) ruined the drop on Jurassic Park because we had to stop for a solid 60 seconds as they yelled at him to put it away….but aside from that we had a great time. The boys LOVED Hagrids Motorbike Adventure and Revenge of the Mummy. My wife (who can handle pretty much anything) got pretty sick on Forbidden Journey. I didn’t even try it with closed eyes because I’ve heard so many horror stories about it. Spider-Man might be a little dated now, but was a good time. Looking forward to heading back when we have more time. Epic Universe should be up and running by then as well.
The youngest wasn’t tall enough to ride, so he didn’t care. The other two were bummed. I’m not sure what was going on, but when I looked the next day it was still down.
Was running on Friday while I was there at least but wasn’t willing to wait 2 hours for it. My kid isn’t tall enough yet, anyway, so it would have had to have been a rider swap.
10 and under is peak. I’d say 11-16 will be able to make friends and still have a great time like on any other cruise
Don’t think it’s different than another cruise although teens may like royal more. But teens can also really enjoy Disney. In the fantasy the teen area is a completely dedicated part of the ship. Totally isolated
I'm personally a big fan of it, especially for a first time. We stayed at Beach Club while we did Epcot and Hollywood studios then switched over to Polynesian, and finished at AKL. Long as you plan it with your parks it adds maybe 10 minutes of extra time to your day. My wife organizes the suitcases really well, she had our daughters outfits in big zip lock bags for each day. Then we had one bag just for dirty clothes, so was pretty fast and easy to pack up with that system. We are going back this October and doing the same itinerary but dropping AKL. I loved AKL, probably my favorite resort of those 3 but we are going to have a 2 year old with us this time so need the hotels to be a bit more convenient for a nap.
This is what I mean. For him. It’s perfect. For my family it’s not. We move into hotels when we check in. Everything out of the suitcase and into the drawers. Packing it all back up takes way more than 10 minutes.
We don't unpack suitcases so I don't think that part would be too bad. Mainly considering the time to teardown pack and play and all of the stuff for the 2 year old. Current plan is 6 nights at Caribbean, but flirting with the idea of trying to get 2-3 of those nights changed to BC, Poly, or AKL. Beach Club would mainly be for the pool, but we would be transferring on our resort day. We figured if we did the second half of the week at AKL, then we can do the Skyliner parks while we are at CB, then bus from AKL for the bus parks. Poly is a dream but I hear it's super crowded and the tower construction can be a minor annoyance. Current plan is: Sun - travel/arrive around 2 Mon - HS Tues - EPCOT Wed - resort Thurs- MK Fri - AK Sat - leave around noon Not sure if its worth to upgrade to deluxe resort on Wed when the majority of the rest of the time is park time.
I think I’ve posted this but we’ve done the parks a ton and I’m a fan, but I had never been on any cruise before and did not think I would enjoy it. My wife was getting on to me for not being excited about the cruise. I wanted to do a 3 night and she convinced me to do a 5. I fucking loved it. The 5th night I was telling my wife I wasn’t ready to get off. I think unfortunately we’re doing 4 nights this next time but it’s what works best with our SB dates and schedule.
Disney provides a free pack and play. just need to request it. That will save you some time as you can just leave it and move on to the next hotel. Poly is GOAT tier. honestly I have never noticed the construction on any of my last few stays. Beach Club is also an elite hotel. The transfer on hotel day isn't the absolute end of the world because they have a transition center by the pool. Lockers and stuff so you can change and leave stuff secure while you swim. IMO go for it. Carribean is centrally located and has underrated adult things like some fun bars, but it's a pretty meh hotel by disney standards. split with poly or Beach club and enjoy it. you are going to be just fine on your 4 day because its just going to nassau and the private island. IMO don't even get off the ship at nassau. Enjoy the empty ship. You essentially get 2.5 sea days and 1 day at castaway cay. can't beat that.
Poly is awesome and other than I couldn't walk over to the Grand Floridian to use their gym I wouldn't have even noticed the construction on the tower. Beach Club is pretty awesome. My 6 year old ranked it as her favorite hotel due to the pool, specifically the slide. Also, you can't beat how convenient it is to Epcot, was pretty awesome to go to Epcot for half the day, pool for second half, and then back for dinner at night.
How were the crowds? Wife and I are looking to go to just Islands of Adventure for our anniversary early next month. Two tickets and two unlimited fast passes $650 I'm wondering if the unlimited fast passes are worth it going on a Tuesday or Wednesday. I did just check and it looks like it could be when schools are on spring break. I just don't want to breeze through all the rides and then spend the second half of the day waiting hours to go on something a second time. I haven't been to islands in probably 15 years so no clue what to expect.
Spring break is literally the 2nd busiest time of year after week between christmas and new years. You are going to want those fast passes.
We stayed at the Poly in October, and it was amazing. Honestly, it’s really going to be hard to stay anywhere else now. It’s awesome for kids, they have so much fun stuff throughout the day/in the evenings.
