Do the winners have to wait for the finale to air before they get their check like Survivor? Whoever won this race 2 years ago has probably racked up a bunch of credit card debt waiting for that check.
Interesting group of peoples. Not sad to see the Noodlers go. Football Players, Volleyball Bros, and Blond Sisters will be fun to watch. Also Asians teams trying to outdo each other will be entertaining.
Pretty happy with this season so far. I'm usually anti blonde girl teams, but those girls were such good sports about getting yielded twice and realized how lucky they kept getting to stay in so a little bit of me was disappointed to see them go. I wouldn't really mind seeing any of the remaining teams win but I'm rooting for Hung and Chee right now but seems the volleyballers are almost certainly going to win.
DW and Gary Eswar and Aparna Hung and Chee VolleyBros Will and James Superfans are always my least favorite. James seems more mean than bitchy and fun. The blondes were frustratingly long for this race, but eventually flipped to that 15 seed where I wanted to see if they could make a run.
Agreed. The wife and I both made a full turn on how we initially felt about the blonds. I bet we see them again on a all-star season.
I broke down and finally read the spoilers Spoiler: Real actual spoiler Man, this is some bullshit. Fuck the alliances. That shit is an invasive species on reality tv. Hope James is satisfied with himself for ruining a season that had potential to be great. Hate hate hate that they won
Hate when the final leg has tasks that pretty much keep whoever is in the lead there. Love the crazy memory ones like the season w the chippendales and the gay farmers where they were at the challenge for hours and it was anyones game.
Race Across the World on Discovery+ seems interesting. Teams have to get from London to Singapore without taking a flight. They have a budget of what a plane ticket costs and are going to have to work to replenish it along the way. Checkpoints, but no challenges like TAR. I’ve done one episode and like it. https://fb.watch/3S0_IcvXMm/
I didn’t realize they had resumed filming this fall and we get a new season Jan 5. Didn’t expect to have a new season for a long time, so this is great.
flying a charter between locations is kind of a bummer but am still looking forward to it (plus they’ve really cut back on the choose your own flight adventure aspect anyway)
Oh, I missed that part, pretty lame but as you said they’ve pretty much eliminated the buying your own flight aspect in the past few seasons anyways. Shitty version of amazing race is still better than no amazing race.
That definitely explains the sketchy and unexplained reason that Phil wasn’t doing tough as nails podcasts and media like past seasons.
Looks like we lose Spoiler The train terror bros - couldn’t find a definitive reason, saw somewhere that vax requirements might have done them in. Others saying injury. The married guys - also speculation, they had a family member die of Covid right before restart Coach and wife - pregnant in fall 21 Love island - broke up, as expected Some are saying they caught the cops and arun/natalia in the overhead shot of the restart. I haven’t dug in too deep because I don’t want a total spoiler. Looks like they go off from Switzerland with five returnees that were still alive in this race after Edinburgh and two replacements.
That’s too bad, they seem like nice guys but they’re literally the worst team in Amazing Race history
Sounds like the returning teams had some kind of ridiculous road block that put them way behind and that’s why akbar and sherri magically jumped ahead. I’ve heard there were a couple challenges that were just flat out deleted so far this season.
Hate that they are just clumping everyone together at the start of each leg regardless of how far apart they finish the previous leg, but guess with covid stuff they had to do something. Going to end up being the worst season besides the family season.
I think they’ve been doing this sort of stuff for a while, but it wasn’t really as obvious or out in the open. Like you get to the first challenge and it’s a time slot or it’s got operating hours or your first clue is take the one train today from Berlin to Bratislava.
they’ve definitely been messing with stuff for a while. it started with no longer doing pitstops of 12 hours no matter what time you arrived, but starting two groups at a time from the pit stop 15 min apart is another level and is weak and I hope its due to covid and goes back eventually. I just think back to season one where the guidos were still in Alaska after the winners crossed the finish line. I love that. if you build an advantage you should be able to keep it. A lot more importance used to be placed on actually traveling. Now its just whose lucky enough to reach a challenge first because 95% of the time people finish in the order they arrive.
I gave Arun and Natalia the benefit of the doubt that they had a bad leg. Then maybe they’re not great. Now it’s official. They suuuuck.
Dream/Killer is on Netflix and is the documentary about Ryan’s murder trial/conviction/road to freedom. It is frankly incredible and ridiculous. Would definitely recommend a watch. I enjoyed this season fully knowing they were doing the best they could with what they had. My wife has been watching this show since it began and listens to all the podcasts and interviews and she said one of the stewardesses did a Q and A on the season. The biggest thing that stood out was that there were long layovers between legs due to COVID testing being done after each leg. I enjoyed this season being drama free and letting people’s skills be the difference. The fact they had to drive everywhere was nice too. It played into another skill that had to be good. I do miss the drama in taxis though. The boys were some of the best at the physical challenge I’ve seen since the snowboarders. They just struggled with details in menial tasks which is death knell on TAR. I don’t mind the Holderness family. At least he’s pretty talented in his own right. He made for exciting TV and I thought he was always candid and talked over what he did well. Maybe they brought some additional light to anxiety and ADD etc. Looking forward to next season. Hopefully it’s all back to normal.
The one guy on the guys team was annoying as hell with all his yelling. Was hoping the stewardesses would have won
I feel like we're probably going to get one more lame charter flight covid season like this one before things hopefully return to normal. This season was better than no amazing race, barely.
I get that the legs usually start staggered and bunch on the flights right away anyway, but they really need to do away with group starts in the new cities.
I have low expectations this will anything but shit. I assume they will keep the charter flight and starting the teams in 10 min increments like last season, which completely ruins the whole race.
I know they have to do it because of covid, but I hate the charter flight, grouped starting legs thing again. Totally removes the travel aspect of the race, and there's almost no advantage to having a strong leg. I always liked the traveling/race aspect more than the challenges. Hopefully they one day bring back the way the race used to be, but I can see them just continuing this way since its easier.
Yes, I was talking to my wife about it last night. The new format kind of sucks and it's not just Covid. I get you have some teams in the past that literally complete their legs 2-3 hours before the other teams but that was usually equalized by flight availability and it would be 50/50 in helping them with the next leg regardless. It kind of takes away from the stakes episode to episode. Especially if 3rd place goes out with 1st place like last night. It just takes too much away. Like you said, I love the race way more than the challenges. I've always treated the challenges as way to see a little bit more culture and that's about it.
They could keep the charter like they had it pre-Covid and it would be fine. Just stagger the release times by finish time. They’ve taken charters for a while, it just wasn’t shown.
Just finished the season. I liked the cast. The format and legs kind of sucked. It seemed to me that there were a lot of challenges that were exact copies of stuff from survivor and big brother, just set up in a park in some European city. I imagine that’s budget and pandemic restrictions, but I have a feeling that stuff is here to stay. RIP to the well planned locally themed and immersive challenges.
Yeah it was one of the few casts that their wasn't some team I was rooting against. The two sisters need another shot when one is not injured. Also them not flying commercial is weird.
