it was too much work to be a bucket problem blogger so now it’s just a podcast, not even a joke, see the last post https://substack.com/@thebucketproblem
Regardless of rooting interest in this game, I will be (legally) scouting Bama for the Lions' next draft. Branch, Jahmyr, and Jamo
Can check out mgoblog for some better write ups. Like this but I understand pod cast are great because you don’t have to focus https://mgoblog.com/content/upon-further-review-2023-offense-vs-ohio-state
I couldn’t help myself. A brief sample: That’s as far as I made it. I am truly sorry, #Michigan Wolverines
I'm looking forward to the Lawry's Beef Bowl before the game. I think we got some guys who can destroy some prime rib.
This specimen runs MGoBlog, and is emblematic of the entire fan base. You will encounter 30k versions of this in Pasadena.
Alabama +1.5 is the lock of the century. I'm thinking the score will be something like Bama 31 Michigan 20
Brian Cook is a Michigan engineering grad who lived in his parent's basement after graduation and started a blog by aggregating pay site recruiting information, back in 2004 when fan blogs were a new thing. He's a deep computer prgamming nerd and therefore a hero of the lunatic fringe of online Michigan fans. Most of my friends from school have no idea who he is or have only heard of him in passing. I doubt you'll get many of his type among the Michigan fans you'll find in Pasadena.
What are going to be the keys to the game? Michigan Offense v Alabama Defense Michigan would be wise to replicate what Auburn did against Alabama. I'm not sure if it's going to work again but that would be what I'd try to do. So off tackle /outside runs -not interior runs-off the zone read. We are terrible about leaving the middle of the field open if you go empty. So I'd try to utilize that as well. Alabama Offense v Michigan Defense You can limit Milroe from gutting you on the ground by using a spy. Kentucky, Auburn, and Georgia did a pretty good job with that. Milroe hangs on to the ball too long so have to try to pressure him. Obviously run fits will be huge as we're going to try to run the ball both A gap and off tackle. Our weakest link on the OL is our center is absolutely garbage and good for multiple bad snaps a game and isn't a good blocker either. Our true freshmen LT used to suck but is now much better.
It seems like what has separated Michigan from being able to win in the playoffs is elite athletes in space and speed on defense. Has Michigan been able to improve the roster in these categories? If not why? It seems like with the momentum Michigan has had, and the money they have , they should be able to get these types of athletes on their roster
To answer the question... No, Michigan's problems the last two seasons were not team speed or a lack of athletes. UGA plays the same brand of football that Michigan plays, except it had some of the greatest talent in recent CFB memory running it. It went disastrously. UGA manhandled Michigan physically in that game, and Bennett played one of the best games of his career on top of it. TCU had two pick 6s, got a fumbled UM snap at the goal line and stopped a 4th and goal from the 2 yard line. None of those had much to do with the lack of athletes in space. Michigan has talent, but that's a lot to overcome in one game.

Can we not have one damn sporting event in this country that doesn’t turn into a circle jerk for the military?
Started out at Craig AFB in coincidentally, Alabama…then KI Sawyer - UP MI March - Riverside, CA Wurtsmith - Oscoda, MI Offutt - Omaha, NE Had my parents gotten pregnant 3 months earlier, I would’ve been born in Selma, AL
I’m just a humble cunt but think Michigan’s playmakers on offense the much bigger problem Their TEs have been legit but WRs are pretty mediocre compared to most but they’re an incredibly sensitive bunch
Nope we know our WR are far from elite. They're good, but not scary. Of course, y'all Buckeyes have figured out there's more to life than an elite corp of WR by now, right?
junior colson, starting mlb, is like the opposite of a typical b1g lb to. Absurd athlete that often goes in the wrong direction.
Short answer: the Big Ten East has evolved in terms of speed and athletes and the Big Ten West hasn't.
100%. Heard it as a recruit and seeing it already. He's been talked about by teammates as the most Saban-like player, constantly trying to not just learn the how but the when, where, and why. Still a young guy who is prone to a freshman mistake occasionally, but very clearly a heady playmaker.
I don't remember a player being hyped this much then actually coming through and exceeding expectations so quickly. The fact that he is who Saban trusted to put back there at punt returner when Kool Aid forgot how to do it says everything. He is not built like a traditional PR but Saban trusted that he would actually catch the damn ball and not screw up. He doesn't treat many freshman like that ever.
Downs is a true safety whereas Branch was a Swiss Army knife able to play pretty much anywhere in the secondary at a high level. Both are highly cerebral at diagnosing plays and setting alignments, understand proper angles, and attack downhill with reckless abandon. Downs may get to a similar level as Branch in terms of coverage ability, but it’s not there yet.
Downs has a chance to end up on the All-Saban Team, which is saying something in any position but especially in the secondary.
