I think the thing that made me feel the worst was watching Margo start to cope with what happened and immediately start blaming herself. I know that happens but it just shook me a bit
Agreed on this thought, this was easily the hardest part to watch. Just felt gutted for her knowing that nothing she did was wrong. This is where I think it helped having Aisha (and the chef to a lesser extent) there to just support her.
I wonder if this event will have ripple effects when it comes to some of the situations with cornerstone cast members like Gary.
What happened with Joao back in the day? I'm fairly certain that involves him getting blackout drunk. But I can't place the moment when Captain Sammy turned on him.
wasn’t he the one who was bosun and the red head girl was on the deck and got into a fight with Kate?
IIRC he had some troubling behavior around the female crew members. It's been a few years so maybe I'm mistaken but my wife hates him so she is probably right lol
Finally got caught up on BDDU, but there were lots of little things that made me dislike Laura, but her reaction to the Luke situation was gross. On a petty note, maybe she's not my type, but there was no difference in her attractiveness if she took 10 minutes or 10 hours to get ready. She had a really really weirdly inflated sense of self worth that was really offputting long before the Luke situation.
And really, not victim blaming Margot, because Luke's behavior is not acceptable at all, but she puts herself in some bad situations. She seemingly invites attention she knows is bad, or potentially harmful to others. Just can't help herself or needs that validation, but I think she's got some soul searching to do on that front.
She seems to have deep personality issues when it comes to the dynamics of relationships or expressing exactly what she wants. Which at 26 or 27 years is just weird to see imo. If she was 20 I could understand some of the childish behavior with Harry. But it's ridiculous that one minute she's happy and the next she's piased because the guest (jokingly) wanted to have a threesome with him. Also, constantly complaining about making cocktails is just weird to me. I can get things being new or overwhelming. But she should be able to look some of these recipes up and know what to do without hand holding.
Not petty at all. She isn't that attractive and spending two hours getting ready didn't elevate her looks at all. I can't put my finger on it exactly. I also think she has main character syndrome.
I wouldn't say that I am shocked, but its still crazy to think. I just ant imagine marrying Lindsey. She is going to be on another level after the breakup, going to make great TV.
Are they still filming this year’s summer house? Otherwise, we aren’t going to see the aftermath on tv for a long time
If I remember correctly, the last weekend they film is usually Labor Day weekend. That means this should be on camera, and the article my wife ready said it likely will. Plus the reunion is usually filmed close to the end of when the season actually airs, so its likely that will include the aftermath. Could even see a scenario where they continue filming (ala the Vander Pump scandal) to get more play out of it.
So I have only watch bddu season 2 on a recommendation. There's a lot of below deck to watch, what's a good place to start?
the first season of below deck is what I finally gave up and started watching bravo stuff with my wife. It was really only because it was filmed in st Martin and we had just got back. unless you just want hundreds of hours of reality tv, I’d say watch the first season of BDDU (which I thought was the best of any BD show in a few years), the last 2 seasons of sailing yacht, and by then the new season of BD med will have started. I don’t really think there are any story lines you need to know about for BD or med. you can just hop in live
There's no point in trying to go backwards. Below Deck is on year round between Below Deck Down Under, Below Deck, Below Deck Med, Below Deck Adventure, etc. As soon as one ends one starts. It actually gets a tad overwhelming.
Yeah I think that BDDU represents the best of the franchise so I would just watch it. Each season has moments for sure and there are crazy people along the way like that russian chef but I am not sure its worth going back and watching all of them.
I think it's worth going back and watching early Captain Lee/Kate seasons. Especially ones with Ben edit: not that they are important to current seasons (like others have mentioned). I just think they are more entertaining that the recent BD and BD Med. Sailing and DU have been better
OG seasons 2 and 3 were my introductions to the franchise so those would be my recommendations. The cast varies so much from season to season that storylines and relationships don't flow long term like many of the other Bravo shows, so there's no need to watch old seasons to get caught up on anything
Feel like Jason and Aesha's comments about Margot and never drinking again on charter are foreshadowing
New Winter House cast is like 50% various Below Deck characters, Kyle and Amanda, Schwartz, and fucking Capt Sandy
Previews show her making out with Joao which is a pretty big wtf moment. I can't figure out Culver at all. Hooking up with your GF in the safety closet is super fucking weird when you work on a mega yacht.
Jaimee has to be the hottest below deck stew, might be on the mt rushmore of below deck personas. biggest knock against her is dating culver.
I'd have to do a deep dive. She's certainly up there. I definitely get an "I want to be in the BD universe" vibe from her. The whole situation with Margot being 2nd stew could have been solved better without people flashing the fuck out. Aesha could have made Jaimee *interim* head stew and that way she could couch Margot through the ropes and monitor the situation.
When I started reading this, I thought you quoted the winter house/captain Sandy post and audibly gasped.
Jamie is definite one of the hottest ever on the show, but the 5 pounds of rubber she had injected into her lips during the interview segments is definitely a negative
By no means do I think Jamie is ugly, she is definitely attractive but I just don't think she is THAT hot. I don't know, something about her look just doesn't do it for me like that.
Same here. I feel like I'm insane but I think she's 3rd on the boat right now. Margo, Aesha, Jaimee, then Tzarina. Don't @ me
Is Tzarina really that lacking in self-awareness that she's genuinely miffed about why Joao had a change in attitude toward her when she reflexively called him fake to his face? Also Jamie's behavior was really scummy. Big red flags all around
Agree 100% on this. She has no awareness that she was pretty brutal to him on that dinner. He was obviously hurt from it and when he pulled back she instantly started saying "this is the old Joao" constantly. Its not shocking that he would be extremely frustrated and upset. Outside of kissing Margot I am not sure what was so bad about what he did, but I also don't blame him.
