It was only a little heat stroke. Bear used to make Bama players do training camp in 100 degrees with no water breaks. Players are soft today RTR!
The lank thread has like 10 replies and most of them were Bama dudes. I don’t think anyone cared because we didn’t know what it was about. To try and pretend young black men didn’t take a common phrase and change it to be more marketable is extremely naive and disingenuous. There is zero wrong with them using it. The issue we have is now that the cat is out of the bag white dudes using it for other white dudes is like Lyrtch said just the “nog” thing all over again.
lol yeah using “a” instead of “all” completely changes the phrase and it’s why people went to the original phrase. Come on now
is “let a naysayer know” more or less believable than “the hate u give little infants fucks everyone”?
The only thing that isn’t believable is that the players didn’t just clean up a common phrase to be able to sell shirts.
i'm still not sure what mcafee was even saying about that solving MLK day? sounded like word salad that went nowhere and made no point.
the old common phrase is is “let a n know” they changed it to “let all naysayers know” to be able to make marketable to sell merch.
my favorite part of this back and forth was dbl posting the press conference where they didn’t drop the n word to reporters as clear proof of his point
I have no idea why he thinks it’s a big deal to acknowledge that young black men might have used the commonly know phrase before. IMO it’s really no different (for them) than saying “let a brother know”. It’s not inappropriate for them to have used it and thought “hey we can make some money if we clean this up”. Also, I am just kidding I know why some don’t want to acknowledge where “LANK” originated from.
I just watched The Junction Boys for the first time since it originally aired after the Heisman ceremony in like 2004. It’s free on YouTube.
There’s plenty more gold in that thread but I didn’t want to include more. Go to that first tegg post and read the next few pages, it’s well worth it.
"How could you not know what thug life meant, you fucking idiot" from the man who later gave us "I swear none of us knew what lank meant" is very special
Can’t imagine the amount of brain worms you have bouncing between this show and all the Barstool garbage.
I don’t think they were necessarily lying in the interviews I more believe that they changed the meaning and at the times of the interview what they said the phrases meant is what they meant. Idk if that makes sense. Both started as one thing and evolved over time. It’s okay to admit that. It keeps you from appearing disingenuous.
just laughing at dbl thinking it's impossible they were telling a harmless lie to sell NIL gear or that 2pac made it up after the fact
1. I never said they weren't lying about it. I never said they had never heard the other phrase. I just said that Bama fans that used it were just using the team motto for the year, not some wink wink thing going on. It was used a lot all season, enough to get a GameDay segment, and there wasn't any blowback on it at all. People were using it in good faith, that was my point. 2. Tupac was absolutely telling the truth.
< be me < wait patiently for someone on this show to do some dumb shit < praying someone posts said dumb shit ITT so this awful derail ends
Will you at least give us that Tupac came up with words to fit “Thug Life,” or are we to believe that he started with the premise that “The hate you give little infants fucks everyone” and shortened “you” to “u”?
Because imagine the “eureka” moment when he noticed that such a profound statement could be a dope acronym for an ab tat.
Gonna need a ruling from dbl on this https://www.usatoday.com/story/ente...hugs-name-truly-humble-under-god/71738866007/ Lawyer says Young Thug stands for 'Truly Humble Under God': More from RICO trial
I don't think they were just being slick with it. Of course they've heard the other phrase but I don't think they started with one and re-worded it to make it marketable. They can know of one and still come up with the other without the later being a substitute for the former.
what a weird coincidence he ended with THUGLIFE and not Protecting Innocent Children Keeps Life Excellent
