one of the most underappreciated moments of the olympics is the womens 100 qualifying where there are a bunch of women running their asses off as the only representative for their entire country. Most of them are in regular workout gear you would buy from target that is as close to their country's colors as possible. They have no shot to qualify and their olympics are over in less than 15 seconds, but you can see how much this means to them. That was not it. pathetic.
Just caught up on DVR Hell yes Sha'Carri!! So happy for her after the whole weed suspension. Out of lane 9 after one of the worst starts I've ever seen in the semis! Shoutout Grant Holloway too. Another 'merican just dominating his event for years.
Idk, think those angles are playing tricks. For a 100m anytime you know the winner it’s not really close. also, she most certainly does not have another gear over Shericka.
Top end she absolutely does. I mean she showed it in that race. Jackson is a much better starter. The only way she ever wins a race over her is by having a higher top speed.
Dalilah didn't make the 400H final, sounds like she's been sick and injured though. The other two American women did though!
Tausaga, 25 year old disc thrower PB'd to get into the finals and then she uncorked to win. Amazing moment, first US women's world disc champ
that catch, pull and release. It's one of the best feelings when everything goes perfectly Sucks for Val though lastsonofkrypton
Imagine if Noah got hurt from that shit... Anyway, man just ran 19.76 with like no effort. Man this final going to be fun. Stacked field.
Idk why T&F isn't more popular. Legit my favorite after CFB. We're spoiled too with all these Worlds and Olympics back to back to back.
With how good Bednarik looked there's an outside chance of a US sweep. I still think we'll get 2 spots and Tebogo will find a spot on the podium but a sweep is def possible.
I'm always partial to the relays but hard to go wrong with anything 400 meters or shorter for pure excitement
NOAH!!! Hell yeah Knighton 2nd. Rest of the field was slower than I expected. Noah unbeatable though in the 200m.
M 5K should be dope. Fingers crossed we get a medal from Abdi. Seeing Guatemala have someone so good in Luis Grijalva is cool. He's a Dreamer
Women’s 800m should be the race of the entire event. For those who don’t follow closely our women’s 4x4 passed outside the zone yesterday so they’re DQ’d.
That fucking Norwegian is so damn freaky, really didn't look that tired after he caught that guy at the end to win gold.
fuuuuuuck that, is she recovering from an injury or something? Used to seeing her crush everyone, that wasn't typical.
Nah, she’s basically taken this year off and just ran 1:56. It was shocking she even showed up. But everyone was questioning her coach and this won’t stop that.
I feel like as long as Mondo is dominating his sport, you have to finish each global championship and/or Olympics with the 4x4’s and men’s pole vault. Just can’t beat the atmosphere of both events.
Noah continues to be a great ambassador for the sport. Guy even funded his own documentary until NBC came in and started contributing. Now he gets T&F front and center with the NBA all week after his comments on Global vs National championships. The sport could really use a way to piggyback off this conversation. Get Aaron Gordon’s ass on the track and run a ~120 vs Noah in the 200 or something. Have Harrison high jump vs Ja. Idk it’s the nba silly season I bet they could do something around the diamond league finals in Eugene this summer.
First 5 NAU runners today separated by 38 seconds. Bosley with the win, Nico Young cheering in street clothes. Hopefully he's healthy soon Spoiler
Bama women's XC has a 21 yo freshman from Kenya named Doris Lemngole 16:12.10 5K today at the Southern Showcase, won by over 30 seconds Jeez. Yet no mention of that feat in their team thread. Sad!
Seven months ago in New York, Yared Nuguse signalled that his 2023 season was going to be something special by running 3:47.38 at the Millrose Games to break Bernard Lagat‘s American indoor record. On Sunday, he has the opportunity to replicate that feat in his final race of the year by breaking the American outdoor record of 3:46.91. That’s no small feat — since Alan Webb set the record 16 years ago, only Ingebrigtsen (who else?) has run faster than 3:46.91. But we’ve seen a parade of fast times in the 1500 this year, Nuguse only missed the overall record by .47 indoors, and in Ingebrigtsen, he could have the perfect pacer (unless Ingebrigtsen decides to chase the WR). The record is certainly within Nuguse’s reach. The 1.08 conversion pegs 3:46.91 as equivalent to 3:30.10, and Nuguse has run 3:29.02, 3:30.44, 3:30.25, and 3:30.49 in his last four 1500s.
Norway’s Jakob Ingebrigtsen ran 3:43.73 to win the Bowerman Mile at the 2023 Prefontaine Classic and capture the Diamond League title on Saturday, as he held off a spirited challenge from American Yared Nuguse down the homestretch. Nuguse ran 3:43.97 to shatter Alan Webb’s previous American record (3:46.91) in the mile by nearly three seconds. The top 11 runners all went sub-3:50 with the top nine all setting personal bests.
A mile race with 11 guys going sub 3:50 is unbelievable. I imagine that's never happened before. Unreal fast
