I agree w this. I think the tell about culture (and a healthy NIL) is how many 2 deep types transfer out.
All due respect to Mario but can he be held liable when these Miami money laundering/ponzi schemes go bust? And I saw that admitting I wish Napier had been this aggressive getting rid of dead weight.
Such a typical post from you. You realize that life wallet doesn’t even have a presence anymore right? We have one of the most well run collectives out there.
We’re going to have transfers starting at some critical positions like QB, LT and CB. S Downs (Ala) CB Igbinosun (Ole Miss) C McLaughlin (Ala) LT Simmons (SD St) QB Howard (K St) RB Judkins (Ole Miss) will split time Simmons and Igbinosun started 2023.
I mean it was like a 25% serious post but have at it. I am admittedly jealous of the financial support at Mario's disposal.
I don't think you can get a bunch of new guys on the ol and win but you can get a bunch of skill position guys for a year and make it work. Not sure the limit but it's probably like 3-5 on each side.
QB - Gabriel (year 1) WR - Holden (year 2) WR - Tez (year 2) WR - Stewart (year 1) OL - Bedford (year 1) OL - Cornelius (year 2) DL - Burch (year 2) DL - Caldwell (year 1) LB - Jacobs (year 2) DB - Muhammad (year 1) DB - Alexander (year 1) DB - Johnson (year 1) DB - Savage (year 1) K - Sappington (year 1) Basically half of our projected starting lineup is transfers. And this isn't counting QB2 (Dante Moore, year 1 transfer), RB2 (Noah Whittington, year 2 transfer), WR4 (Gary Bryant Jr, year 2 transfer), reserve OL (Nishard Strother, year 2 transfer), and two reserve DBs (Nikko Reed, year 2 transfer and Brandon Johnson, year 1 transfer) We've had a ton of turnover with the coaching change but I'm surprised at how many transfers we've taken when typing this all out, particularly given the level we've recruited at. And we just had Nix, Bucky Irving, Khyree Jackson, and Evan Williams drafted who were transfers into the program. hmm.
QB Ward (Transfer) RB Martinez (Transfer) WR George WR Restrepo WR TBD TE Arroyo OL Mauigoa OL Okunlola OL Rivers OL Cooper OL Carpenter (Transfer) DL Bain DL Transfer DL Transfer DL Transfer LB Bissainthe LB Mauigoa (Transfer) DB Damari Brown DB Daryl Porter (Transfer) DB Mishael Powell (Transfer) DB Jadais Richard (Transfer) DB TBD Potentially 11 out 22 starters are transfers
Auburn. Should have a decent bit. QB - Thorne :bleech: TE - Valdo Fairweather LT - Precy Lewis LG - Dillon Wade WR - KeAndre Lambert-Smith WR - Robert Lewis Ga State So that's 6/11 onoffense. NT/DT will be essentially 2 deep of transfers Edge - Jalen McLeod LB Austin Keys/Eugune Asante At least 1 back up LB will be a transfer CB Keionte Scott - Hope he moves back to nickle. He's elite tehre 6/11 with a ton of rotational players being transfers. Figure this will start to trend down a little bit as we continue to recruit/evaluate HS talent better. I'd expect it to stay around 25-35%
He didn’t do anything last yr then they moved him to EDGE from off ball and he had a really good spring, he should factor in on pass rushing downs, one of the reasons they sent Wayne packing but he’s definitely not a true LB
Yeah he's a Renard Wilson body type...put 20 pounds on him and tell him all you do is pin those ears back for 25 snaps a game
Scott came from JUCO but Kite is a transfer. Thompson from Texas is almost certainly starting at a safety spot too
Pretty funny you took our best (questionable) and our worst (unquestionable) starters from last year.
This is a fun exercise. Mizzou next year RB - Marcus Carrol (Ga St 1st year) RB - Nate Noel (App st 1st year) WR - Theo Wease (Oklahoma 2nd year ) WR - Mookie Cooper (Ohio St 3rd year) LT - Cayden Green - Oklahoma 1st year LG - CamRon Johnson - Houston 2nd year LB - Tristan Newsom JUCO 2nd year LB - Chuck Hicks Wyoming 3rd year CB - Dresden Norwood aTm 3rd year CB - Toriano Pride Clemson 1st year S - Joseph Charleston Clemson 3rd year DL who knows who stars but Darris Smith UGA 1st year Kristan Williams Oregon 3rd year Chris McClellan Florida 1st year Zion Young MSU 1st year
Lou Holtz won his National Championship at ND with a Prop 48 quarterback. He would’ve played the game just like anyone else.
Michigan last year had 9 first-year transfers. 5 of them started or played at least half the snaps (2 OL, 1 TE, 1 DE and 1 CB). 2 of them were either part-time starters or top back-ups (1 LB and 1 OT). 1 was the kicker, and the other was either the #2 or 3 QB. Not sure how applicable that is to others from a ratio standpoint because almost all of them were really experienced already and came in as role guys on a team filled with returning starters. Would imagine that's a lot harder to pull off with less experienced transfers on less experienced rosters.
QB - Riley Leonard - Duke (Assuming his ankle stops exploding) WR - Kris Mitchell - FIU WR - Beuax Collins - Clemson DE - RJ Oben - Duke Nickel - Jordan Clark - Arizona State S - Rob Heard - Northwestern K - Mitch Jeter - South Carolina
As far as starters go, all of the Pack’s transfers look to be on the offensive side of the ball QB McCall (Coastal) RB Waters (Duke) WR Rogers (Ohio State) WR Collins (Clemson) TE Joly (UConn) C Correll (Notre Dame) the lone exception might be Donovan Kaufman (Auburn) at DB but that is tbd
He might not start, had some underclassmen step up and had a freshman come in and show out quickly but ND's receivers were abysmal last year so sucking may be an upgrade
Think these guys are pretty certain to start: WR Nate McCollum (GT, 2nd year) OL Howard Sampson (North Texas, 1st) OL Willie Lampkin (Coastal, 2nd) OL Austin Blaske (UGA, 1st) S Jakeen Harris (NCSU, 1st) S Stick Lane (Georgia State, 2nd) CB Alijah Huzzie (East Tenn State, 2nd) Potentially Start: QB Max Johnson (Dump, 1st) Thought he was clearly #2 in the spring OL Zach Greenberg (THE Muhlenberg College, 1st) DL Joshua Harris (Ole Miss, 1st) kind of hilarious how many guys we've had to bring in on the OL the last few years in lieu of actually developing some kids
0-3. Maybe Fleming at WR. Maybe Harris at CB. Maybe kicker, but the guy we brought in is a walk on from Tulsa.
Kind of sad “normal eligibility’ math looks weird. Played 1 year. Has 3 left. No more 4th year sophomores w 3 years left to play
I think our only possible transfer starters will be at wide receiver. And even then the two candidates are in their second year after transfer. That would be dom lovett and rara Thomas. Colbie young will play a lot as a first year starter but so far seems to be a RedZone specialist. We have two other wr transfers in their first year that should play as well Edit to add: etienne should be a co-starter at RB but with his dui, I'm not sure if or how that will affect his spot in the rotation
Our OL was bad. We return 4/5 starters, but it looks like McLaughlin will bump our starting center to guard and start at center.
I meeaannn Im not so sure how pumped I would be about landing 3 stars who couldnt sniff PT for Hugh Freeze’s Auburn team
