You can't tell me exploration is "all you need" then say "lol just don't reveal anything if you find that a hassle" when collecting field notes and unlocking keys etc is a majority of the exploration, that's a gameplay limitation, what is is you're suggesting people do, just run around the open world to...look at stuff and not interact with anything that's hidden and simply do the main quest?
Field guide pages and the little dragon flies carrying the keys are the only things you have to use revelio to reveal no? I can see pouches of money, treasure chests, locked doors, consumables/plants without using Revelio. Obviously in side/main quests when you get to a mini map area that's a purple circle it's useful to use Revelio or after clearing out a bandit camp do I use it to make sure I didn't miss anything? Absolutely. All I said was you don't have to spam it every 5 seconds to accomplish stuff in the game. It's stolen right out of Witcher games and it's a nice feature to have.
One purple, yellow and red should be in your main "fighting spell sheet" to counter those three color shields. And it's nice if those 3 can all be used to string combos together. 4th slot I would use for a fire spell since those are good damage spells. I'm currently rolling with Expelliarmus, Levioso, Confringo and Descendo as the mains. With the upgrade that basic cast hits reduce spell cooldowns you can string together a ~15 hit combo pretty easily using Exp > Levio > Descendo and have the cooldowns refreshed by the time you finish the combo. Spell > 3 basics > Spell repeat.
You took what he said to the extreme. There's visual and audio cues for secrets so hitting it over and over is way too much and would ruin your gameplay. If you hear a weird noise, See a flicker out of the corner of your eye, or come up on an art piece that seems more unique than the other game assets, hit revelio. Otherwise just go about your business. I've found a ton of stuff but haven't felt hindered or forced to hit it all the time.
Finally got to sit down and play, really happy with everything so far, I was absolutely giddy seeing the school at the end of the prologue. Only thing i can say is movement feels a little stiff and I'm getting some stick drift which I haven't ever had on this particular controller in the year+ since I bought it. Otherwise it is fantastic so far, I'm spending so much time just staring at stuff.
Gotta admit this is fun as hell. And I've never read a single one of the books or watched any of the movies.
I’ve actually been interested to hear someone’s take that isn’t engrained in the universe already. I’m glad it’s hitting for you.
I've always liked the aesthetic and idea of the world, just couldn't get myself into any if it. But this is very fun, the exploring is a blast.
I was too old for the books when they came out, but the best friend is super into the HPverse so over the last few years I've spent a shit ton of time playing the board games and going to Universal with her and our other friends. Still not super into the IP, but really like this game. Mainly because it's like Assassin's Creed and that's the only thing I've played recently other than sports games
I had to close out of the game and relaunch it. They all popped for me on the main menu. They’re also only appearances, I believe. They don’t take up gear slots. They just make it so you can take whatever gear you have equipped and mask it with that.
Had to go through the WB/HP site and make sure I claimed there, then eventually they popped at the main screen that they were unlocked. Think I may have unlinked then re-linked my accounts, too.
I got glitched into the one eyed witch cave. Did not have the password yet and it pulled me in there. Got stuck for quite some time bc I didn’t have the fire spell yet. Very random glitch.
For anyone missing these still. I'd redeemed mine on the Twitch site but missed they had to be Redeemed here as well. The 'Redeemed' boxes were clickable when I came back to them this morning:
Being able to just hop on the broom and roam around has been such a fun experience takes this from a 6.5 game to a 7 for me which is good
Yeah I just got the broom unlocked. Being able to fly around where I want to go makes this so much easier. I'm not even level 20 yet so I've barely explored anything.
Finished the main storyline today. Sitting @ 59% total completion if that gives scale as to how much there is. 32 hours of game time
I think I've explored too much because I find it vastly superior to the story and combat, so now I'm lvl 39 doing lvl 20 story content.
I’ve only played the game for when my wife gets stuck in certain spots but I agree the movement feels clunky. That and the combat seems simplistic are probably the two negatives I’ve come across. My wife is also on story difficulty so maybe the combat is better than what I’m seeing.
Thank you for explaining to me how difficulty levels work, I had no idea that I chose the easiest setting for my wife who does not play video games.
Gotta admit that’s the one thing I googled. Once I heard it wasn’t gear that scales and just a cosmetic item I googled the last two. One led me to a new courtyard in Hogwarts I somehow hadn’t seen in ~15-17 hours of play. my quest log has gotten really crowded
Is there a way to tell which one you’re missing? I have been holding off googling it cause I don’t wanna go through a walkthrough going to 13 locations to find out I’m missing the 14th, lol. Have been just running around hogwarts in between missions trying to find it. Maybe it’s in a courtyard. I don’t explore them too often. Maybe that’s why I can’t find it.
Combat is better on normal. There’s an eb and flow that just feels familiar but it can remain pretty tense.
the combat is...just okay, after the first couple of hours when you get used to what spells break what shields every encounter is honestly pretty repetitive.
Yeah i'd say the combat is better than I expected, I'm not very good at it yet, I did the second battle of the dueling club and was fumbling around quite a bit. The chaining of attacks and different combos of certain spells is actually pretty well thought out, so I'd agree with others that story mode probably isn't showing it at the full potential.
I do wish you could hold down a trigger to cast the basic spell like an automatic weapon. Get a little tired/worried I’ll wear out my R2 casting the regular spell over and over.
What’s a good way to acquire gold early game? I’m level 14 and feel like I’m having trouble doing some of the side missions because I don’t have enough money to get some of the ingredients/potions needed.
Just shy of level 20 and before I went and bought a bunch of spellcrafts, I was sitting on like 8k. I'd bought a health pot here and there but that was it. So much exploring.
There's nothing different in higher difficulty other than you hit harder and take less damage, the combat is what it is.
Do the story enough to unlock beast capture/breeding and u can sell them. I've bought every single spellcraft/broom etc now and are upgrading all my gear to max when I get an upgrade piece and I still have anywhere from 10-15k gil left over.
I’m currently a level 29 with 28k in gold rn but I’ve barely bought any spell crafts I need to do that next
