wife has covid negatives: she’s sick and i am not so solo kid duty all weekend and sleeping on the couch sucks positives: she’s so congested she can’t smell anything so i got to cook skyline last night and people say covid is all bad
I never tested positive or had any symptoms when my wife had it recently. She did mask up after she tested positive and kinda quarantined herself in the guest room but they gave her Plaxlovid and it knocked that shit out fast
it’s not covid this time! turns out i have asthma though. almost certainly from my previous covid bouts
yep. just hanging out with a nebulizer currently. yet another reminder for everyone to get their shots and mask up
My wife had covid like 2 years back. I never got it. No idea how as I road in a car with her for 3 1/2 the day before she tested positive and then was around her the entire time she was sick
My wife and both kids have had it multiple times yet I’ve managed to not get it. And I have the worlds weakest immune system

My co-worker and I spent several days in Vegas after Thanksgiving for a conference. I had gotten the latest booster about a month prior, he hadn't. He and I almost certainly got exposed in the huge swaths of people we interacted with maskless because he popped positive a couple of days after we left and felt awful, meanwhile I never felt different so I was fine (never tested so could have possibly been positive without knowing). He also wasn't up to date on his latest booster and it's clear that helped protect me this year which was nice to know.
love this tweet. guess what. it's fucking free here for most of us, too, because insurance fucking pays for it (and they fucking should pay given their profits for doing literally nothing useful). in Canada they get gov't insurance that pays for it - with their taxes - which pays Pfizer for vaccines and paxlovid. its not free. nothing is.
I’m pleased I haven’t paid a dime for vaccine and boosters but defending big pharm or insurance, yuck
Why aren’t you mad at the insurance companies for raising premiums because they had to pay for the thing they’re supposed to pay for? I’m just always amazed at why people Stan for insurance company profits like they’ve been programmed to do so. You’re doing their job lobbying for them.
drug companies raise prices on drugs for americans-->insurance companies have to pay more--->pass that on to the consumer you're, interestingly, ignoring the core increase of the cost but you did this a year or two ago so we dont have to spend more pages on this
No trying to be rude here at all, but do you have a decent grasp of list prices vs net prices and how our fucked up system works and who makes money along the value chain between the pharma company and you getting it at the pharmacy? point being, not all list price increases = more money for the pharma company. In fact, many don’t. Other point: what if pharma raised prices and the insurance companies didn’t pass that on to you? Would that be ok?
i'd imagine I have no idea the understanding that you do regardless, no one here is "stanning insurance company profits" whether drug companies or insurance companies profits are the issue, the drug price went up which will get passed onto the consumer so fuck both of them, I don't care but dont act like anyone here is protecting insurance company profits
None of it’s good. I know which I would prefer to profit more if the scientific employees there can benefit
Big pharma advertising budgets dwarf their R&D budgets Innovation costs less than they would have you think
wait what? i hate insurance companies. we've talked about this. i respect your ideal model a hell of a lot.
i get that Bernie Sanders has made it is political mission to destroy pharma and biotech in the USA. it doesn't mean he has a grasp on how it all works. a deeper understanding is important to get to a place where affordable medicines, long-term, bring this country back to where it should be while maintaining global leadership.
Man if you don't shut your paste eating euro trash ass up And to think, I had forgotten what a fucking moron you are.
sigh. we've agreed on a lot in the past. it doesn't have to get nasty. i think i was one of the people who got "euro" to leave this board forever. also, i'm not European?
I feel like we've had this conversation before but this is not an attack on scientists and doctors. It's an attack on corner office douchebags who prioritize having 4 yachts over what's best for society. If you want to defend those guys then have at it
you know i am not defending those guys at all. fuck em. i just want to preserve our scientific leadership in this country when it comes to drug discovery, which academia is really really shitty at doing.
edit: i'll just stop getting offended at shit that gets posted. to Redav 's point "this is not an attack on the scientists and doctors" who work in biotech and pharma.
Even if you have the fucking flu you shouldn’t be going into work until that shit is gone anything for capital… this country sucks
https://www.cdc.gov/flu/pdf/freeresources/updated/stay-home-from-work-poster.pdf here are the flu guidelines fwiw
I had Covid last week, most likely bc one of my zoomer prick coworkers just comes to work with various ailments because he doesn't want to use time off.
Still haven't tested positive or been sick since this whole thing started. Guessing that'll change with these new guidelines
