Just the fucking greatest weirdest shit, when big poppa pump got a live mic, you just never knew what you were about to hear
I'm sure they could cherry pick a stat to make it seem like him or Roman is the most profitable talent ever, but there is 0% chance that anyone ever out sells Stone Cold imo.
Did anyone have as big a change from tag team guy to singles main-eventer? Lots of guys went from tags to singles (HBK, Hart, Jeff Hardy), but they were mostly the same character. Other than maybe Bradshaw becoming JBL, I can't think of a guy who just suddenly found a gigantic personality like Scott Steiner did when his main-event push started (granted, that was a little while after he stopped tagging with Rick, but still)
Depends on what you put into the conversation for metrics. I don't think WWE really did stadium shows for the big events till X7. Also factoring in the run, SCSA was white hot but it also was a short run. I listened to the interview so Cody mentioned, gates, merch more so than TV ratings.
The numbers post Nick Khan are pretty insane. That guy is a total shark. Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s onto bigger things like running a network or studio.
Merch-wise this has to be Austin or NWO right? In terms of all-time popular merch sales. Tack on the fact people are STILL buying/wearing those shirts.
On that A&E Biography of DX, X-Pac said they were getting six figure checks every quarter off of merch sales when they decided to break up DX. Who knows how true but Meltzer reported SCSA sold 12 million shirts in 1998 alone. Those shirts were in every Spencer Gifts in every mall in the country at the time, which was unheard of previously. The combined ratings of peak Monday Night Wars were so high that the NFL openly complained about the effect they were having on MNF ratings on ABC.
the voicemail is real but asking Hulk to tell a story with 100% accuracy is like asking him not to pose after the match brother
Doesn’t give an exact number. And I’m not sure if when he says 7 figures he means that specific check or just overall since he then says “maybe 8 figures now”
I get wanting to pay homage but a straight Wyatt cover band act will flop. If it’s Bo Dallas in the Uncle Howdy gimmick, I would have him come out and immediately ditch it. Give him a shot with his own character. Maybe Bray left behind a bunch of ideas he can use.
the real question is will they award Bray Wyatt his 6th Wrestling Observer Newsletter "Worst Match of the Year" Award for anything involving this group
It seemed like Bo and bray had a ton of ideas for the Wyatt 5 or whatever from the doc. I hope it is cool but I just don’t know
I thought the idea was they were going to make lifelike versions of all the puppets. I'm sorry, but I'm not mad we missed out on that.
I don’t really had a problem with it if done right it’s just hard to imagine it will be pulled off right. Think they’ll get the benefit of the doubt from fans initially but imagine they’ll turn fast if it’s bad
Copeland vs house of black should be a good feud even if they’re all going to get jobbed out to Copeland
Easy tie-in with them having tagged vs. Darby/Sting w/ Swerve eating the pin, and then what Swerve did to Nick Wayne
Turn on dynamite and the first thing I see is Jericho hitting someone in a trash can with a kendo stick. Ok then
I’ve not started this yet as I have company for dinner and am ashamed. This gives me such hope an joy and can’t wait to watch. Piece of shit smelly fuck.
There's not a soul on the planet that believes Christian is going to win the world title, but he's going to make that feud sing for the next three weeks.
Show was a let down from the in-ring standpoint. Good story advancement. Love the closing segment. This crowd has been ass like 99% of the night though.
He’s the best in the company at getting real heel heat. So about as good of an option as they could choose.
they gotta get Swerve involved in the EVP storyline immediately because it's overshadowing his title win, there was a shocking lack of heat to his segment with Christian and especially the beatdown (and the fans doing a joke chant during it didn't help either) I still think whatever momentum Swerve had a few months ago is now behind Ospreay, his absence was felt tonight when it came to crowd energy
