Got hot from 3 and had Edey in foul trouble during the latter stages of the first half. Just couldn't sustain it in the second half.
Yeah, I watched the whole second half. You guys played well to hang close on the road. Purdue is just really good. Minnesota is a legit team at this point. I was penciling in the home game against them as a win a few weeks ago but I am a little worried about it now. A loss in that game would be a “bad loss” because the predictive metrics don’t love Minnesota and really hurt our tourney resume.
The team is probably a year away from being a good team. They lack in-game consistency, where they can look great one half but go through major droughts in the other (you saw this in the first Minnesota-Nebraska matchup), and I don't think they have played a single game where they played well in both halves in Big Ten play yet. Definitely signs of a team that is young and going through growing pains (I think only Indiana and Michigan have less experience overall in the conference). Given where we were last season, the NIT was a good goal for the squad this season, with higher aspirations next season assuming most of the roster returns.
Congrats. Hopefully helps the conference save face by getting your preseason top 4 team off the bubble. They already extended Juwan last year.
Looking forward to that in the first round of march madness No PG is a killer. Also make your FT, Coleman, you dorky bitch
I'm doing some mental gymnastics here, but I prefer a loss at Penn State to crush any hopes for March. That way I'm mentally prepared when we lose to Grand Canyon in the first round
There's no chance we ever play full time at Rec Hall again but we desperately need a smaller arena that actually has an atmosphere.
Congrats to the bucks and all those who enjoy watch us suffer. One of the most painful years I can remember.
Sent last night by an Iowa women’s basketball player after they beat Minnesota. Why are they so weird about that?
It was the most entertaining loss I’ve probably ever watched. We scored 1.47 points per possession (national median is 1.06 points per possession)
It’s like they don’t even know that everybody agrees with them and is laughing at them because that wasn’t even the call. Just amazing levels of cognitive dissonance.
who’s everybody? I follow this stuff more than 99% of the public and have no idea what they’re even talking about
Cooper DeJean scored a TD against Minnesota on a punt return that would have won a football contest that was called back because of a “fair catch” signal that was not a fair catch. I watched it live and concur it was a bad call
It isn’t a fair catch. It is a call for an invalid (fair catch) signal. Literally any arm waving from a returner makes it a dead ball that can’t be returned because it can be confused as a signal for a fair catch. I don’t even care to argue the call. It’s that they don’t seem to realize the ref did not call it a fair catch. The ref called it an invalid signal.
This seems like a pretty worthless delineation. The ref effectively called that he saw him signal for a fair catch. It was a bad call. Iowa fans, players, and coaches are still weird.
It's funny to me that Iowa basketball is basically the opposite of their football program. Elite offense and no defense season after season.
