I couldn’t care less about rand’s story in these 3 episodes is it every explained why all these kids from the same little village all have these special powers? Feel free to spoiler me if it’s in the books
as mentioned above, ta'veren. Basically they are all special because the Wheel is spinning out new versions of ancient heroes to fight the Dark One all over again for the final battle. "The Wheel Weaves as the Wheel Wills"
so there’s nothing special about where they’re from, it just adds to the story they were all kids who grew up together?
The coincidence (as the wheel weaves) and their connection makes it special, but there is no stated reason in terms of where they live has some special thing that creates superheroes or anything like that.
In the show not yet, but they are descendants of Manetheren which was the greatest civilization after the breaking. Too much more talk gets spoilery maybe.
Rand, as the dragon reborn and champion of the creator, is the strongest taveren ever. Him being brought to the two rivers brought Odin (matt) and Thor (Perrin) into the pattern. It also supercharged everyone around them.
She looks like Quagmire. It's distractingly big. Definitely need to rewatch the 2H of season 1. Tried episode 1 and I was so lost I just turned it off to not waste time
Pretty bored with S2E1 but I’ll keep giving it a shot. Early reviews I’ve seen were surprisingly good so hoping it picks up
I am enjoying it. It's not great, but for nostalgia reasons and the sparse amount of decent high production fantasy shows it is good enough for me.
I’m starting to think how insane the plot from the books is just doesn’t translate well to TV show. Liandrin being exposed as a Darkfriend kind of fell flat compared to the books.
my parents are watching the series (and enjoying it), but they've always assumed Liandrin was a Darkfriend, probably because the actress just looks evil.
I think what they did instead was build up her character and give her some motivation for what she is doing. In general, reds always come across like dark friends to me anyway, and to the point above..her check bones are so strange she just looks evil.
True, I just feel he seems more like how I pictured Matt than the previous actor. The other one felt more high strung even prior to the dagger.
I think later Mat will be much better with the new actor, assuming we get there. The low engagement in this thread seems like a bad sign.
That’s what I’m concerned about too. Hell, we have a whole GoT board which shows the level of interest in that show at least from this board. This show isn’t even close to the level of interest GoT got. It doesn’t need to be that level, but for the cost of making this show it needs to be closer than what it is.
I’m now caught up on the season and tbh it’s way better than S1. I’d call it a legit good show now. Hope it doesn’t get canceled
IDK if TMB thread participation is that great of a litmus test on overall show support from the general population. There's some damn good shows that are several seasons long out there that have pretty weak threads on here
I finally figured out who the long haired dude is that’s been under house arrest or whatever this season. He’s the dragon from last season. So he’s powerful not as powerful as Rand?
He was never “the dragon” Rand is the only Dragon, he’s a “false dragon”. Also he’s not powerful at all after they cut him off from the one power.
Just finished getting caught up on this season. Think it’s been really good after the first episode was a little slow
As soon as Lanfear was revealed (didn’t want to spoil anything about Selene) I told my wife that’s who I was rooting for going forward.
Question for the book readers. Without spoiling me as I haven’t read the books, are these seasons equal to one book each so far? And aren’t there like 14-15 books so eventually they’ll have to start cramming multiple books into one season?
I’m really enjoying this season. S1 was a lot to take in. I’m finally feeling like I understand what is unfolding.
It’s been a long time since I’ve read the books but they’ve pulled some stuff from book 1, book 2, book 7, book ‰. They’ve got quite the stew going.
It’s been almost a decade since I read the books. I barely remember what happens and what they’ve changed so it’s kind of like getting a first time experience. This season was largely book 2 but they did pull some other stuff. They can skip almost entire books as far as what’s truly important and just take bits and pieces and weave them in. Gonna need to watch the finale again but overall I enjoyed this season
