I feel like you've missed or are forgetting that Suiter absolutely planted the evidence in the wreck? (Under Jenkins' direction of course, but it was still Suiter who did it.)
i was under this impression too, that Suiter planted the evidence himself to be part of the program Jenkins was running……and that’s why he was so racked with guilt because he proactively planted that evidence knowing that’s GTTF thing to do
I just went back and watched the scene and they don't explicitly show it, but it looks like the Sargent (same guy who planted the gun I think) plants the evidence and then Jenkins asks Suiter to toss the car again. Suiter finds the bag and is definitely confused and and skeptical about the whole situation because it was right under the seat, not somewhere it should have been missed. I think he knew something was up but wasn't directly involved.
On first view I actually thought the blue package was what was being planted, but I see now that was his gloves. I also missed the knowing nod from the Sgt that happens right before Suiter is asked to toss it again. I also didn't read Suiter's reaction as genuine on first viewing.
I'm guessing because it's unknown. They did a good job of only sticking to what they know for sure happened.
there was testimony from other police that Suiter was among the police that took money. to me it seems like he took money, didn't plant the drugs but realized what happened, and got away from Jenkins as fast as possible because he considered himself a good police officer who made the mistake of taking money when his sergeant told him to. whether he thought that meant he would be going to prison alongside everyone else, or he didn't want to testify, or had guilt, etc. I think is unknown.
I’ve been to Baltimore 50+ times but never really seen the teeth of it, the shit with new mayor-new police commish after this is just wild I’m cool just staying near Camden yards/the harbor, insane city
Just finished it. Really well done, of course. Had no idea it was based on a true story until the end of ep 5
Wayne’s final scene where he imagines giving the hype speech and everyone applauding was amazing. “We put dope and guns on the table. That’s what we dew.”
This show is too real. My wife and I finished it last night and were pretty much silent until bedtime. Been thinking about it since
Just finished. Amazing. Yeah agree, the FBI dude, after he heard Suiter was shot, said one the cops on trial was gonna testify that he had taken money. Another thing is when it was announced on TV that Jenkins and all were arrested he left the room where all the other detectives were and looked pretty shook.
How do you feel if you’re Gondo. From “the neighborhood” but became police. Still ended up in jail anyway
I would love for them to do multiple seasons of this, but focus on other cities. Finished it last week and haven't stopped thinking about it. Such a great season
A cop in jersey was just found guilty of basically doing the exact same shit. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nj...cers-who-robbed-residents.html?outputType=amp
But only if they stick to mid-Atlantic accents. I’m talking Philly, Pittsburgh, south Jersey. Boston and New York are played out and southern accents are too generic.
finished it at the start of the week. really fantastic miniseries but more depressing than just about anything i've watched. David Simon wrote a blog a couple of weeks ago talking more about Suiter and why they showed him the way they did, btw https://davidsimon.com/sean-suiter/
I don't think I trust someone more than David Simon to attempt to make something as accurate/unbiased as possible.
There is so much happening here. Get Bernthal on the phone. And also, nothing has changed as the show already told us.
