took me a bit to place him, but he was Ichabod Crane in Sleepy Hollow (I'm probably the only person that was super into that show).
fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu i watched that show in its entirety and never caught that til you just said it
One of the things that killed me about the drama surrounding this show was the idea that some nerds had that it needed to be less political “Don’t be political” Immediately mentions V for Vendetta and Watchmen
Just reread this thread and there’s some great shit. People reading the book for the first time, sheer childlike joy from everyone after every single episode and most importantly, a bunch of guys enjoying the ride and not killing them selves with theory craft. awesome show, awesome thread
Really hard to watch the LeBron Nike ad with ‘Life on Mars’ and not fire the series up immediately afterwards.
I’m starting my first rewatch. Honestly excited to pick up on all the hints I missed leading up to the last few episodes.
It gets me in so many ways every time. It’s cool. It does him and how he perceives time so well. And it’s a kickass love story.
There was honestly like 4 episodes where after I finished watching them I thought “was that the beat episode of TV I’ve ever seen?”
right there with you, it’s so well done. I am hitching to watch it again but I want to forget a little more before I get back on that train
Everything about the show is so incredibly well woven together. Absolutely every thread is perfectly connected and makes perfect sense when it’s revealed. As I said, I’m doing my first rewatch, but I already know how well the pieces set up for the eventual reveals. Just seems like people who appreciate the genius of the season are fans of the original graphic novel, which is truly unfortunate.
I have friends who don’t have an appreciation for the source material, and they lost interest in the show fairly quickly. They say I overrate it. It could be different among others, but it has been my experience. Edit: My mistake. I meant to say people who are NOT fans of the original graphic novel don’t appreciate the series.
I got him, it’s pretty incredible that some people absolutely do not get it or won’t bother watching/reading. i feel like a weirdo if I bring the show/book up with some of my friends. It’s definitely not for everybody.
Thinking if Watchmen was airing right now with all that’s happening, how wild Twitter would be tonight.
I’m more speaking to the social traction of the show touching on Black Hollywood, racial issues with authority, etc and how social media would be, considering what’s going on across the country.
I don't think that's correct. I've never read the graphic novel and loved this season. And tons of praise I've seen is more about its handling of race issues and doesnt care about the graphic novel context.
Just started a rewatch, this show is so amazing. The singing part at the last supper in the first episode is elite,
My wife, after months of her saying she has no interest in watching this series, says to me "Hey did you know that Watchmen show talks about the Tulsa Massacre? I think Id be into that show" . Whatever, rewatch here we come!
Also is there a good video or something to catch her up on the key points of the graphic novel? She has only seen the movie and didnt really like it. The squid thing will throw her for a loop.
just finished the book, yeah the squid thing can be hard to get. She needs to read the last chapter of the book to really get it
She loved the first episode. She then found Peteypedia on her own and has read the entries for ep 1. Hooked.
A bunch of my employees watched this past few weeks and loved it. I love that it is getting attention.
Finally binged the series this week, finished the final ep this afternoon. Just excellent, don't know why I waited so long.
Loved how they tied in the original story with this sequel yet still made it its own unique story where you didn't necessarily need to read the graphic novel to get it in the end. Although the novel provides a lot of context
